Stopped by, for a second time because it was decent last time we came through McGregor. Will not go back again. I asked for a buffalo chicken sandwich with Ranch, without fries. I wanted a side salad, instead, and had no problem paying extra for for it. When my sandwich came, I asked about my salad. She said, "oh,you can get that at the salad bar." Had I been told earlier, I would have cancelled it knowing I had to go to the salad bar myself (we just came in from hiking a nearby state park, and I wasn't very presentable. Had I know I had to get up, I would not have ordered the salad). And the fact she asked me what dressing I wanted on my salad when I ordered made me wonder why she asked, if she knew I was supposed to go to the salad bar myself?? When we rang out, the person cancelling the salad seemed so put out he had to cancel a salad. He didn't ask how things were with our meal...nothing. The sandwich was brought with a small soup bowl of ranch. I kind of questioned that, but when I could not eat the sandwich because it was soaked in so much buffalo sauce, I was happy to be able to cut the sanwhich and dunk each bite in ranch to kill the taste of so much sauce. Moving on to my husband's meal. He ordered an omelette that was supposed to come with hash browns, or fried potatoes (thin poptaoes grilled, not fried.). History meal was delivered and the omlete was so small, and no hash browns. He asked if the menu had said hash browns with the meal, just in case he was mistaken. She said, "yes, but I just didn't think you wanted them.". ???? She never asked him about them, so I guess the menu is at the waitress' discretion? She only came to our table when it was time to get the check and take the plates. Needless to say, was not as good as the first and definitely uncaring staff. Saddened because we really liked this...
Read moreThe food was good, but the waitress was atrocious. Worse service ever had. Drove an hour to go to this place. Waitress was extremely rude. I already called and spoke with a manager, and I received an apology, but I wanted to make others aware. Took forever to place drink orders for two of our party members. When she did come over, she made it clear she did not want to. Made eye contact and waved to try and get get some refills. She pointedly turned away to another table. We needed the check split up. When we asked if she wanted us to tell her how, she said she had already taken care of it. Then she proceeded to bring one check. We were still eating dessert and talking, and she told us we needed to leave because they had a reservation for the table we were at, and the other party was there, but about 15 minutes later, the table we had been at was still empty. Also, of note, in observing the behavior of the waitress towards us versus two tables next to ours. A table of three men and a single male diner at another. They all received much more attentive and friendlier service. The table that had three men... she asked if their check needed to be split, have them options about dessert(do you want ice cream? Do you want vanilla or maybe swirl?) We certainly did not receive the same level of service. Of note, there were three women our party. Could be the waitress just doesn't like The young lady at the cash register couldn't figure out how to split the check, and finally, in frustration, one of our party members just paid the entire thing. I, personally, will never go back. The food is decent, but the horrendous service after an hour drive left a VERY bad taste...
Read moreWe were hungry and driving through town when we came upon this place. There were a lot of cars in the parking—usually signaling a good restaurant. We were unfortunately disappointed. We ordered nephew chicken that came with two sides. My daughter wasn’t very hungry, so I ordered a baked potato and mashed potatoes as our sides. We didn’t want the buffet as it appeared to be there for hours. We were served cornbread muffins which would have tasted good had they not been burnt. While we were waiting for our meal, the waitress went to buffet and spooned mashed potatoes into 2 bowls. These were the mashed potatoes we were served. The mashed potatoes were cold and flavorless. I was afraid to eat them and worried about temperatures of the rest of the buffet since they were cold. The chicken was good, but I didn’t have a side to eat it with. I told the waitress about the cold potatoes, and she didn’t say anything. The meal came with dessert cake and ice cream. We waited about 15 minutes after finishing our meal for the waitress to come back, but she was busy filling multiple to-go boxes with buffet food. When she finally came around, we asked for the cake to go since we had a train to catch. She said she would have to charge us for the cake since we were taking it. I then asked to be reimbursed. She said she would ask the manager whom I never saw. We had to leave due catching a train so we just put the amount of meal on the table and left. If you see this place while driving through town just pass it by unless you like cold mushy...
