This was our second stay with the Melbourne Beach Crowne Plaza Hotel in 2 years. The trip was for pleasure, and visiting with a friend and co-worker in Palm Bay.
I booked this trip in 3 separate reservations, utilizing an annual anniversary night through my IHG credit card, 4 nights with points through my IHG credit card, and 2 additional nights on the end of those.
Upon Check-In, we dealt with Marco, who was welcoming, courteous, and professional. I made him aware of my 3 separate, connecting reservations, and he took care in organizing everything in regard to our entire stay. I worked in the hotel management industry myself, now 20 years ago, but still remember proper etiquette and procedure which Marco exuded every bit of this at check in, and I mentioned that to him as well. He also noted my Platinum member status, and for the first time in my IHG hotel stays, without asking, he graciously upgraded our room reservation from a standard room, to a room in the main, hotel building.
Our stay in the hotel was very comfortable. The bed and pillows were great. The coffee provided in the room for the mini Keurig machine were decaf only; which we did not use, and bought our own K-cups for the stay. We actually utilized the fitness center in the hotel, which was a decent size and pretty well stocked with equipment. We didn't use the pool on this stay, as we visited with a friend locally that had his own pool; although the pool looked very clean from our balcony above. We did visit the hotel bar a few times throughout our stay, and the bartenders were friendly and prompt as well.
I also had the pleasure of meeting with Beth, the Assistant Hotel General Manager, who had texted me to ask how our stay was going. I at first thought that the text message was an automated message, but upon replying to it, I ended up having a brief conversation with Beth. I had one small issue that I spoke with Beth about, and she was quick to reply and resolve the situation for me.
The only real issues during our stay, were, the new parking situation; as opposed to our stay last year. With the construction next-door, and the new valet parking, and/or self parking fee's, coming and going from the hotel was a slight inconvenience. The pedestrian bridge above the road has steep steps which are not accommodating to everyone, but I assume were built decades ago. Crossing the road to avoid the bridge is a little dangerous, and lengthier as a fence was installed during our stay. Also, for people that walk across the road at night from the hotel to the parking lot, is dangerous as well. Not sure if lighting can be added on the underside of the bridge to illuminate people crossing the road at night, but I believe the hotel wants people to use the pedestrian bridge or the valet parking.
And, for me, in the Fitness Center, there was an almost full range of dumbbells, yet there was no pair of 25 pound dumbbells, and there was only one single 50 pound dumbbell. The only piece of equipment missing for me aside from these, was a pullup bar / stand.
Check Out was a quick and pleasant experience. We did have breakfast at the hotel restaurant before checking out, which was a little overpriced, but not completely unexpected for the convenience. Service was relatively quick at the restaurant, although for an omelet and scrambled eggs between our 2 orders seemed a little lengthy, as we were flying home after breakfast and check out and got a little concerned on time to get to the airport.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the services and options at the hotel. We are planning to make an annual visit to Florida to visit with friends and most likely will continue to stay at the Crowne Plaza for these trips! Thank you to everyone that made our stay...
