Americas Best Value Inn Mentor/Cleveland — Hotel in Mentor

Been staying for about a week now because I'm here for work. Below is my list of broke or weird things. I won't be staying here again. Every door handle is backwards. When putting in your key you have to lift up and scrape your hand every time or smash your fingers between the handle and card scan box. To close from the inside its really hard lifting up and takes a few tries. Our bathroom door will not close all the way. There is a two inch gap. The toilet seat has been shaved down pointy and weird. The plug is missing from the tub and there is a section falling apart and messily covered in caulking I think? Its gross. No hangers on the hanging rack that uses special hangers. Two of three drawers are broke and fall off the track on your foot. Don't expect to get towels everyday you have to hang dry and reuse. Walk to front desk if you want more. Its been almost a week and I've had to empty my own trash into an outside bin because they will not clean daily. No clean sheets no sweeping nothing. Check in took forever and every person in every room has to have their ID copied. Lady was really rude and the process took over an hour for 4 rooms. The next day everyone ID had to be copied again. Really? And we were threatened about having cameras and sneaking people into our rooms. Co worker had problems getting a replacement key he lost because after the ID thing even they wanted our boss to do it and he's not staying here he's at home in PA. TV is old and many channels are just static. 10.found gross was cloth with stinky brown stuff on it on the shelf above clothes rack. So gross that I touched it. Do they clean between customers? I don't think my bathroom door has ever been cleaned it is dirty and looks like it was recently splattered with dirty water that dried dripping down the door. Staff is rude and don't understand or speak English very well. Then they get mad at you and act like its your fault you aren't speaking their language. Lady was rude to autistic coworker. When he asked why they needed everyones ID. Normally one person out of our eight person crew leaves an ID. "you ID you no room" she said really loud. I'm 25 and short I my room was second after my Autistic friend. "you to young, give ID. Unless you are 21 don't try to stay without parental supervision. Ha. Breakfast is coffee. Only one cup per day per person. Coworker was told "you here before only one cup no more"

Fix and repair the rooms. I didn't know they made pillows so thin. The staff wants to know way to much about you and its just weird. You don't need to interview the people staying here. I went to the snack machine at the front desk after dark and got questioned who I was, what room I was in and where is my ID proof. I don't carry my purse after dark to a snack machine. If you want a better class of people don't run a crappy dirty motel that makes you wonder how many customers slept on these sheets before they got changed. You can't be rude, assume everyone needs threatened about sneaking people in rooms, you need to at least understand English. Clean the rooms really good after each person stays no one wants to find a dirty brown towel and wonder how many people slept on these sheets because its been a week with no change. Cons: Floor was sticky and filthy - we wiped a wet towel across the wood and it came back black Lines of holes across the floor from where the nails were coming up Trash scattered under the bed - we couldn’t figure out why the dog kept trying to crawl under there; upon further investigation, we found an empty Campbell’s soup can, a plastic container with some sort of food still in it, and a few other items Cigarette burn holes in all the comforters and a strong cigarette stench in both of our non-smoking rooms Midget beds were very close to the ground and hard for the older members of our party to get into Flies everywhere - there were 3 flies buzzing in the bathroom when we first came in Someone’s spilled french fries and popcorn in one of the AC units Toilet seat cover missing in one of the rooms Walls were paper-thin so we could hear people coming and going all night long

Pros: Clean, hot water Functional sink, toilet, and shower A good number of electrical outlets Granite countertops Working AC units Parking spots were directly in front of rooms, which made unloading luggage quick and easy Pet-friendly

This place doesn't deserve any stars! Nastiest place I've ever seen! There's no way this room waa cleaned before it was rented to me. There was literal blood on the walls, cum stains on the comforter, hair on the pillows, cigarette burns in the blankets, trash shoved under the beds, and gross stains on the walls. The smells when we walked in punched me in the face. It smelt so bad. Then from seeing what we saw from the room we decided to look in the sheets and there's no way they changed the sheets from the last guest. They were full of dirt and food. Wouldnr surprise me if tjere were bed bugs. So when we took this matter to the front desk, she said she admitted those rooms were dirty and offered us a new room. They weren't as bad but were still disgusting. We wanted a refund but she said we had to do it in the same hour that we checked in but we had went out to dinner first before we actually looked at the room. Wouldn't want anybody staying here.
