So there's a lot of sub places out there and each of them kind of does their own thing to try and be unique.
Before I get into the two stars, of all the quick order places I've tried, their hot subs are the best and the fries are made to order. Fresh fries are delicious.
Unfortunately, I've had mixed results with service here. On occasion, I've had nice interactions with the employees. They double check my order, make sure I don't forget anything, etc. However, more recently, it's been worse.
My order today was mixed up with another and it was a mixed bag of several orders. Some sandwiches were mine, others weren't. I drive back and show them the sandwiches I received don't match my order receipt. No biggie. I get that this stuff happens sometimes.
Instead of offering to remake the order, they say "Oh, you the one who got the wrong sandwiches," and hand me the original order I had placed which, at this point, had been sitting out for half an hour. I ask if they could remake the sandwiches as they're no longer warm and one of them responds, "well the meat is still warm, you can feel it".
Okay, yes, the meat was lukewarm but the rest of the sandwich was room temperature and the sandwiches aren't exactly kept at a safe storage temperature. This wasn't a picky thing but more of a "food safety" thing for me. They stared at me for a minute and I eventually just decided to leave since there wasn't any movement to resolving the problem...
Thankfully, the cook stepped in and offered to remake the meal. The remake was good. Great even! The food is always good it's just sometimes I don't get the right food.
The consistency of this kind of mistake makes me think it might be particular employees or perhaps a particular way they handle packing the sandwiches in each order.
Unfortunately, I can't leave 3+ stars on a restaurant that is about fast food but frequently mixes up my order, doesn't offer to replace after a mistake, and ultimately takes 40 minutes for me to leave with the correct sandwich (even if they...
Read moreI've driven by Penn Station East Coast Subs for years and honestly never thought to stop and try it mostly due to the fact that they never looked busy (so how good could it be?). Finally after all these years I decided it was a worth a shot. It looked like not many people were there but it was PACKED inside. It wasn't until we parked that I realized the parking lot view from the road isn't great so I shouldn't have judged that book by it's cover. The ordering process felt a little off, mostly due to me being a total newbie, but the worker was very helpful. They brought our food to us too which was really nice! When I took the first bite, I instantly hated myself for waiting for long to eat here! It was beyond delicious. I got a cold Italian and the balance of bread to meat to toppings was perfect. My husband got a tuna which he said was really good, not too fishy, and didn't taste like it was straight from a can. And then our son got a chicken parm which was good (didn't knock our socks off but it was good) but was a little too saucy. Overall - LOVE PENN STATION EAST COAST SUBS! I can't...
