I booked a reservation a year in advance to stay at the Mentor Home Inn in Mentor, Ohio from April 6-9, 2024 as part of my stay to see the total solar eclipse, and then confirmed the reservation by phone on Saturday, March 30 a week before I planned to start my stay there. But when I arrived at Mentor Home Inn on Saturday, April 6 the woman who was working there could not find my reservation. I told her that I not only made the reservation a year in advance but that I confirmed it with an employee of Mentor Home Inn just a week before. This woman told me she still couldn't fine the reservation but that I could make the reservation on the spot, but that I would have to pay about double what I would have paid had she been able to call up the reservation that I made in advance. I told her I didn't think it was fair that I should have to pay the higher price to stay there since I made the reservation in advance. She went into the back room, made me wait several minutes, and actually called the police on me, who arrived a short time later. Apparently the woman thought I told her I wasn't going to pay the higher price to stay there even though I never told her that. I explained the situation to the police, and after they talked to the woman they all told me I either had to pay the higher price to stay there or I could not stay there. So at that point, not wanting to keep a bad situation going, I agreed to pay the higher price, but I felt totally ripped off and screwed by this, since I know I made the reservation in advance but it was by their mistake losing my reservation that I had to pay the higher price to stay there. But this wasn't the only terrible situation I encountered while I stayed there. When I arrived back at Mentor Home Inn on Monday night, April 8, the last night of my stay there, I could not get back into my room since the badge they gave to me that I used to unlock the door to my room didn't work. I went to the front office, and after several minutes the woman there went to my room but couldn't open the door as well using another badge. After about 15 minutes of waiting another woman employee was finally able to get a badge that opened the door, but it turned out the reason the badges didn't work before was because the batteries in the sensor that was supposed to unlock the door when a badge was tapped to it were dead. I was stunned by this since I felt someone who worked there should have known about this in advance. Only after several more minutes did one of the women come to my room, and eventually put new batteries into the sensor so that the badge would work to open the door, and the entire situation that night took about half an hour. As a result of these two terrible experiences during my stay at the Mentor Home Inn, I would definitely recommend that anyone who plans to stay in the Cleveland area and looks for a place to stay should NOT stay at this place. Anyone who stays at this place is going to encounter extremely poor customer service similar to the extremely poor customer service I encountered during my three-day stay there. The employees there don't know what they are doing, and anyone who stays here is going to get ripped off and pay a much higher price to stay there then they should. I am sorry that I feel this way but these are the situations I encountered at the Mentor Home Inn, and in all honesty I felt the employees there showed me terrible, horrible, and extremely poor customer service with a complete lack of ethics, values, morals, respect, responsibility, professionalism, class, consideration, conscience, integrity, and character towards me during...
Read moreDon't stay here. We booked weeks before through a 3rd party site.
We booked for 3 people. We were given 2 towels and had to argue for a 3rd towel.
2.Everything is broken.
Room smells bad. Like cigarettes and dill pickles.
Bedding and towels are worn out.
Curtains have holes in it.
AC makes horrible noises.
The bath tub has cigarette burns on it.
Microwave TouchPad buttons don't work.
The manual lock on the door is broken.
The floors are dirty. Like, we wore sandals in there because they were gross. There are piles of garbage under the beds.
Toilette is not bolted to floor. There is no shampoo, conditioner, lotion, makeup remover provided. Only 1 bar of soap and 1 washing, but, that rag is also for drying your hands as well I guess.
They make you BUY towels for the pool.
Television has bad spots in it. Like 2"x2" black spots.
The neighboring room had a DV going on and hotel said to just call the police. Police came twice in one night.
There are dog friendly rooms, we paid extra for one. Unfortunately there was dog feces everywhere in the uncut grass. Likely from the weekly or monthly customers.
Yes, its one of those places. Overall, it's a complete dump.
We thought it would be alright because we had a music festival to go to and would only be sleeping here and the hotel is walkable to the venue.
Not worth it. I hope this review helps someone save a headache as we booked this over a...
Read moreMy room wasn't cleaned well at all, I told the employee, they said they had heard that a few times that day. I was NOT offered a discount, I had already situated all my gear, so I didn't wanna change rooms and showered (noticed black, long hair on the shower walls, im blonde 🤢, toe nail clippings and pieces of dorittos on the floor) sheets were clean tho... I used a was cloth to scrub the bathroom floor and it was ruined when I was done, black and brown nastiness... But I got the room online for about 65$, they ask 115$ per room at the desk inside (not worth 115 a night) They offer smoking rooms. I have never seen a motel without carpet before, what happened there that now they have faux hard wood floors? My room smelled like a jar of dill pickles exploded inside... the door needed to be slammed to close and lock all the way. But somehow the key card never gave me any issues, first time that's ever happened!!! Was a plus not being locked out for a few mins every time I tried to get back in. The refrigerator barely worked, had to crank it all the way up to get my water cold for the morning. But when your out hiking and the alternative is to illegally dispurse camp, this place had hot water and a comfy bed (oh the heat didn't work, just blew chilly air all night)... it was better than possibly getting caught camping where your not...
