Having made the (poor) decision to leave LATE on Thursday night for a weekend trip down to Orlando, we found ourselves getting very tired about an hour into driving. We made the decision to pull off and find a hotel. Being in a VERY rural part of Georgia, I had a realistic expectation of modest to poor accommodations being available. While I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the politeness of the young woman who checked us in (after midnight!)... - the same can't be said for the other proprietors of this quaint old roadside motor court.||||When we got up the next morning to check out, there was a hand-written note taped to the door stating the staff was out on property assisting a guest or performing maintainence. There was also the suggestion to "HONK THE HORN" to alert the staff... In the early morning hours??? I did NOT feel like enduring a confrontation with an angry guest over this.||||Being that I was considerate to the sleeping needs of other guests, we placed the room key in the drop box and decided to contact the hotel later to request the receipt. I have to say that I have NEVER, EVER experienced such an ordeal just to obtain a receipt (for travel reimbursement) in all my years in professional and recreational travel. The "owner's son" said they don't accomodate phone requests for receipts. I simply asked if a receipt could be emailed or faxed to my office. I was told that I would need to go out of my way and fax a copy of my ID with a written request for the receipt. I felt this was over the top, as I was able to verify ANY of the registration information provided when we checked in, or the information ON my ID which they copied at check in. I understand the desire to protect the identity and confidentiality of guests... but their response was EXTREME! Really, extreme.||||I certainly hope the owners and staff will contemplate the inconvenience and realistic inabilities of the average traveler (their target clientel) to comply with fax requests for receipts. Faxing is an outdated technology and is costly when having to to pay for the service, per page, at a business center or office supply. Having the ability to e-mail such documentation would be more technologically accessable for the average person's abilities. Adding a business email account (they stated they didn't have the ability to email) would make much more sense.||||It's also very inconsiderate to expect guests to "HONK THE HORN" to summon assistance, or go searching the property to find staff members - wherever they may be. This is NOT safe... also NOT good customer service at all! It is very inconsiderate to the guests who are still trying to sleep. I attempted to relay this rationale to the "owner's son", but he was unwilling to acknowledge my suggestions for improvement and became VERY hostile and argumentative. He put his "mother" on the phone (yup, mom... THAT indeed happened) who spoke very little English. This further hindered my simple request for a receipt. Fed up with the escalated conversation, I returned to work this morning and faxed down the documentation requested. Again, something the average person doesn't have convenient access to. The receipt was faxed back (very poor resolution - I couldn't read the room rates, taxes, and total) within the hour.||||I will say the room was CLEAN, and fairly modernized, given the area and size of the tiny rural south Georgia town. Lots of construction crews werestaying there, plethora of muddy work boots outside almost every door. At the late hour we checked in there was no noise or disturbances outside. It's a motor court, so the only "view" is a parking lot.||||Honestly, the ONLY downside was the rudeness and hostility of the owners...
Read moreBased on last Wednesday's Fire (04/06/2016) @ this hotel, I would be very worried for anyone that might be attempting to book a room at this Hotel Property for the next 90-days or so. When I returned to my room on that Wednesday, they said there had been a fire on the backside of the property at 10:00 A.M on Wednesday (04/06/016). Health concerns for inhaling the fire retardant remnants (major odor) are still a big issue for this hotel. You would be booking this room at your own risk. Until the fire occurred, this was a pretty decent place to stay........however, it would not be at this point.....The fire only occurred in 2 rooms and did not spread any further, however, the "horrible fire smell" still exits throughout the entire hotel property.......There are probably 28 to 30 rooms that make up this hotel. Very concerned.....is why I am writing...
Read moreBeen here two weeks and I can say the post about roaches in unfounded. Down here for work, and even though I have had cheaper offers I am staying here.
The owner is polite, and for the money for a hotel room ( $36 a night ) you can't beat it. For one person, it is a good deal. There are cabins and houses for rent cheaper in the area, but for a hotel experience, it can't be beat. No problems, and when I get in from work, the bed is made and the place is cleaned.
My ONLY issue, which is why I dropped it from 4 and a half stars to 3, is the wifi. He told me the wifi was good, no problems. However this isn't the case. It's slow when it works and half the time it DOESN'T WORK! Might not be a big issue for some, but my phone data is maxed out and half the time I can't use my laptop. Fix this and it's and easy...
