I was looking for an affordable place to stay, that was also comfortable, & clean. It met those features. I also liked the fact that WI-FI was available at no additional charge. While I didn't need 2 beds in my room, I can't complain that the queen bed rooms are the lowest priced rooms. I was fortunate that the hotel was near a few stores, that I needed to stop by for supplies, that I left at home. I chose to supply my own towels & soap, as I use a lot of soap, & most hotels & motels wouldn't provide me with enough that I need. I left the clean towels for the next guest to use, as I used my own towels. The beds were comfortable for my preference (beds weren't firm at all, as I dislike firm matresses). I stayed 4 nights with the first 2 nights to explore the Milwaukee area. The last 2 nights were primarily for attending Pridefest in Downtown Milwaukee.
I took advantage of the continental breakfast, & I normally don't eat breakfast, as I normally sleep until noon. For a budget hotel, I expected the basics, cereal (what looked to be Cap'n Crunch & corn flakes), yogurt, toast, bagels, & apples for food, & milk (not sure what kind), coffee, & apple & orange juices for drinks. Like someone else posted in another review, some premade waffles & even premade pancakes would be nice as an addition too, if it were ever available. I can't complain about what they offer, as I heard from other people who stayed at higher priced hotels, that some higher priced hotels either offered less options for breakfast, or didn't offer breakfast at all.
Wi-Fi was a pain to setup initially, but it turned out that the problem was my laptop that I brought on the trip. I had to reformat the drive, as I bought it used, & was setup by the previous owner. Once that problem was solved, it detected the Wi-Fi. I don't know if this was at my end, or the hotel's end, but I found that after a certain amount of inactivity, I would be logged off the server, & would have to log back in.
My overall only complaint was in the bathroom. Since the floor was all tile, it could have helped if a floor mat were available when getting out of the shower or bath tub (to prevent slipping). Also, a vinyl or plastic shower curtain would have been better than the cloth shower curtain for keeping water from getting all over the floor. I was fortunate that I had an extra towel for wiping up the floor. While not totally possible to prevent the floor from getting wet, but having a shower curtain that repels water would help.
Despite being far from downtown Milwaukee for my intended visit, at least the hotel was along I-894/43, that I could get to Downtown Milwaukee within minutes. If you don't like noisy interstates, this place isn't for you, as this hotel is a block or 2 from I-894/43. That didn't bother me at all, as I've lived near interstates for years. I also liked that this place is located in a safer part of Milwaukee, compared to other hotels & motels (mostly independents) in the same price range, in shadier parts of Milwaukee. An added bonus for me was with my cellphone service. I'm on T-Mobile, & T-Mobile must have their antennas on the hotel next door, that I had that strong of a signal, & fast downloads on my phone.
Despite a couple of small complaints, I still recommend this hotel to anyone that is on a budget. I'm already saving up for my next trip to Milwaukee, & especially for a trip there next year for the same event, same...
Read moreAfter searching for hotels online while I was in Milwaukee, this one seemed very affordable and nice by the photos they had posted on their site. The rooms looked well-kept, clean and wonderful. It was also a plus that there was a pool. However, when I got to the hotel, it was not at all like the photos they have up. The pool looked dirty. When you first walk into the hotel and hotel hallways, there is an extremely disturbing smell all throughout the first and second floors. It smelled so disturbing and disgusting that I nearly gagged and had to hold my breath while walking through them. The third floor doesn’t smell bad at all. I recommend anyone staying at this hotel request a third floor room unless you want to feel sick everytime you walk through the first and second floor. When I got into my room on the third floor, the room looked a bit out of place. It wasn’t very well decorated or put together. The beds were not very comfortable, but they sufficed considering I was only staying one night. When I parked in the back, I felt extremely uncomfortable because people were staring at me through their windows and pointing as I was walking through the door. I think they use the first floor as an apartment or something? It was very awkward and unwelcoming for me and my boyfriend. The staff barely know how to speak English. As I was walking upstairs a man came up to me and gave me a weird look. He tried explaining where I needed to go. I wasn’t understanding what he was saying. Keep in mind, I didn’t even ask this man for help. He took it upon himself to walk up to me and ask me where I was going. He was a bit rude and made absolutely no sense. If I wanted help getting around the hotel, I would have asked. The breakfast room looks a lot different than the photos they have posted on their site. They offer cereal, milk (from a coffee pot), apples, bagels, and a few other things. The cereal was yummy and my boyfriend seemed to like the bagels. I have no complaints about the breakfast aside from the fact that they should offer more. Bacon, sausage, or even eggs. But that’s just a thought. The elevator is a bit shaky and I didn’t feel very safe using it. Aside from the repulsive smells in the first and second hallways, my stay was alright. I’ve stayed at many Motel 6’s and I truly feel that staying at a Motel 6 would’ve been better than the experience I had at this hotel. While I was checking out, everything went fast and smoothly. I definitely will not be staying at this hotel ever again and would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone, ever. Just keep in mind that the photos they have posted on their site are extremely misleading and are nothing like...
Read moreEvery time I have been here, there has been issues. The front desk guy Goldem is halfway decent, and the manager is too. Decent hotel, for the price, but there is no pool. And if you have a dog, they charge $30 extra a day, the dog can only stay 3 days max, and they also charge an extra $100 deposit for the dog, service or not, and try to charge the $30 a day for service dogs. My first stay here was a struggle, on top of having to explain why I have a service dog(which, by the way, they are allowed to ask what he does, not what's wrong with me) then having to explain seizures were not fits of hysteria, but a medical condition, he's not an ESA, he's a Service Animal. In the front lobby, I had to explain all this and write it down, and i was still charged an extra $60, and had to put the extra $100 deposit. There were 10 different incidents with the room door not working, 5 of those incidents it took 30+ minutes to get into my room. I almost had a seizure in the hallway twice because of this. And my most recent stay, the manager at 8 a.m. decided to harass me about my dog, who is service, to the point of following me all the way down the hall and into my room to then tell me he was keeping my deposit due to pet hair and the dog can't sleep on the bed. On the morning of me checking out, at 8a.m. I always clean a room right away when I get in, and twice a day while I'm staying, and clean it right before check out. I wipe everything down, I pull off the sheets and put towels together, I sweep and take my garbage to the larger ones outside. Every hotel. Every time. And this was no exception, even with his behavior. I got my whole deposit back, and he didn't apologize, but told me the way I did it was right, that most people with dogs don't care and leave rooms disgusting. Still, no excuse. The room had actual candy boxes and receipts under both beds, mold in the fridge and I had to sweep because there was debris on the floor, right when I checked in. I had to have the remote checked out 4 different times. The ice machine didn't work at all, no one knew why. Just hope they learn how to...
