Taqwa’s deserves all of the love! If you haven’t been, you NEED to go. My husband and I came here for his birthday and I know we will be back soon to try more items on their menu. Located in Greenfield, about 10ish minutes from downtown, an absolute Mediterranean gem! Everything we ordered is below. I can’t say enough good things about Taqwa’s — delicious food and impeccable service. This is officially in my top 3 favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. Our bill was $80 and we got so much food: Arayes (my favorite) Mint Tea Turkish Coffee Hummus Zaatar and Manakish Cheese (Sean’s favorite) Falafel Tabbouleh Dawalee When you go, let me know! I think you’re going to love it. #milwaukeedigest #milwaukeefoodie #mediterraneanfood #mediterranean #falafel #tabouleh #arayes #milwaukee #414milwaukee #taqwas #wheretoeatinmilwaukee #milwaukeedatenight

Taqwa's Bakery and Restaurant in Greenfield, Wisconsin, we found this gem on our way to Milwaukee, and I can't believe we didn't know about this place before! I really wish we hadn't eaten beforehand because everything looked so good. The falafel were some of the best we've ever had, and the Manakish? Amazing! So fluffy and delicious! I can't wait to go back and enjoy a meal there for breakfast or dinner. If you're in the area, you definitely need to check it out! #mke #milwaukee #mkefoodie #falafel #taqwa

We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the cleanliness of the restaurant, the trays of dessert when we walked in were so inviting. We got the seating we had requested and enjoyed our appetizers.

We ordered Hummus. Soft drinks and thought the presentation of the hummus was beautiful. It wasn't the freshest hummus I've had (it had a slight lingering smell of an old refrigerator as an aftertaste), but they had seasoned it very nicely.

My partner ordered the grilled half chicken platter which he enjoyed, the meat was tender, the rice was so fragrant it was heady and he really loved the quality of the meat. I've had rice in other middle eastern restaurants that isn't cooked completely so to keep the grains of rice separate, but that was not the case here at all. I was actually very impressed there wasn't even a slight hint of a raw bite, it was perfectly cooked and amazingly fragrant. I could have just eaten the rice by itself.

His order came with Tabbouleh which he had opted for instead of the salad because I love Tabbouleh and haven't had it in years. He took a few bites and told me it was too sour for him so I laughed and told him Tabbouleh is supposed to be sour and that's what I like about it and as I took my first bite of it, I understood what he meant. It had way too much lemon and salt. The parsley was super fresh and washed really well and I was really looking forward to it. I tried to lift it out of the liquid so I would just get the top and maybe by draining it would be better (because the parsley was so perfect!) but that didn't work and I couldn't enjoy it, I was so disappointed.

I ordered the Sawani Kufta platter in the tomato sauce. I loved my rice, this has become literally my favorite middle eastern rice in the Midwest. My Kufta though was another story. What I was assuming would be neatly formed patties arranged in a savory tomato sauce was instead a big disc sunken on the bottom of the serving pot with burnt potato coins swimming in tomato sauce above. Worst of all, the meat wasn't tender at all. It was like a hockey puck that I had to break through to get on my plate. I still gave it a chance and broke it off in small sections to eat with my fragrant rice and sauce. The meat that was used for the Kufta had so much gristle that every other bite was exercise for my jaw until I realized I couldn't chew through it. I just continued eating the rice and sauce because it was so so good. I thought after taking it home I would heat it up more and it would be more palatable, nope. I honestly have never come across ground red meat with that much gristle in any restaurant I have ever dined at.

If it seemed as though our server cared, we would have told her, but after she spilled my cola on the table (almost getting my white clothing), and not coming back to clean it up until I approached her to do so, I really didn't have much hope. She was on the phone on her airpod from the moment we stepped in to the middle of our dining experience and she was in no hurry to help us. We initially were the only diners at the restaurant until right after our appetizer was served and she didn't pick up speed with more diners to tend to. I know I would be way more attentive and careful (and apologetic) if I had spilled a drink on a table if I was hosting. She didn't seem to care that she was our host, she had this "eat if you want to eat" attitude.

There was a man that came at the end of our meal that seemed a lot more attentive and caring but by that point we had finished our meal and were just looking for our check so we could leave. If you are reading this and want to have good service, he seemed to know what he was doing. He introduced himself to us as Irfan. I really wished he had come a little sooner, we would have told him about our experience but by the time he came we didn't have the bandwidth to let him know and we just wanted to leave.

I really had high hopes for Taqwa's after eating food catered by them at events over the past few months. Quality control should be a priority for dine-in...

An Absolute Culinary Paradise – Taqwa’s is My New Favorite Spot in Milwaukee! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I can’t say enough amazing things about Taqwa’s Bakery & Restaurant in Greenfield, WI – it’s hands down the best Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dining experience I’ve ever had! From the moment I stepped inside this hidden gem at 4651 S 27th St, I was transported to a warm, inviting oasis that feels like a luxurious Bedouin tent with its stunning decor, cozy lighting, and impeccable cleanliness. The ambiance is so welcoming and elegant, making it the perfect place for a romantic date, family gathering, or even a solo treat. And as a women-owned business, it adds that extra layer of heart and authenticity that you can truly feel in every detail.

The food? Oh my goodness, where do I even start? Everything is made with such love and fresh, high-quality ingredients that burst with flavor – it’s like tasting tradition in every bite! I started with the creamy hummus and falafel, which were perfection: the hummus is silky smooth with just the right tang from tahini and lemon, and the falafel is crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, seasoned to absolute bliss. For my main, I went with the Chicken Shish Tawook platter – marinated chicken that’s charbroiled to juicy, tender perfection, served with seasoned rice, grilled veggies, and a fresh side salad. It was so flavorful and generous in portion; I couldn’t stop raving about it! Don’t even get me started on the manakish and cheese pies baked fresh in their stone oven – they’re like warm, fluffy hugs from the Middle East. And the vegetarian options? Out of this world – the spinach fatayer and foul moudamas are healthy, delicious, and incredibly satisfying.

The service is another highlight – our server was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making sure we had everything we needed without ever hovering. They even recommended the refreshing lemon mint smoothie, which was the ideal cool-down after all those amazing flavors. Prices are super affordable for the quality (entrees around $10-25, but worth every penny), and they offer halal, vegan, and gluten-free choices, plus a kids’ menu that’s thoughtful and tasty. The desserts sealed the deal: the baklava is flaky, nutty heaven, and pairing it with Turkish coffee was pure magic – rich, aromatic, and the perfect end to an unforgettable meal.

If you’re in the Greenfield or Milwaukee area, do yourself a favor and visit Taqwa’s immediately! It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of culture, community, and culinary excellence. Taqwa’s, you’ve won my heart and my taste buds – 10/10, would (and will) recommend to everyone! Thank you for making my dining dreams come...

I never recommend this place.

I don't think I've ever been to another restaurant in America with such rude employees.

We came to this place on the recommendation of a friend. The buffet costs $30 per person. The place was quite crowded. They took us to a rather overwhelming table for two, where it was crammed between huge tables. No employee came to us and explained how the system would work. I guess everyone in the place was Muslim. Since we are in the month of Ramadan, everyone stood up at the same time to get their food to break their fast. So we waited in a long line for food.

Apart from the fact that none of the employees took care of us, another thing that surprised me was that the plates, spoons and forks and glasses were plastic. Everything was so sloppy.

At the end of the meal, an employee finally came to us and we asked for tea. We expected a traditional mediterranean tea, but ordinary teabags arrived.

But what really bothered us was the final. When we went to the cashier to pay the bill, we realized that an automatic gratuity of 18% was added to the bill. When we said that we were not served and that we did not want to pay for it, the cashier got very rude and angry. Then another employee came and asked us who we thought cleared the tables. It bothered us that we had to pay an 18% service charge for the mediocre food we ate from the ridiculous plates at a ridiculous table.

Moreover, after a little research I did on google, I learned that we didn't have to pay this automatic gratuity, even though the cashier told us that "this is how it works". I guess the reason he got so rude was because he knew we didn't have to pay for it. He acted aggressively and wanted to get us out of there immediately.

We will never go back...
