Friendly front desk employee. And that's about it as far as positive things......we stay in different motels a lot due to my husband's job so I see a lot of different motels with a lot of differences and I try to only harp on the big things if I see something wrong since every motel is different. We booked 2 seperate rooms. The first one we went to the sink was extremely stopped up to where you couldn't use it at all so we went to a different room. The next room the sink was very slow to where you could use it but not long enough to brush your teeth or it as well wouldn't drain. The second thing we noticed was the disgusting crumbs on the couch and the musty nasty smell coming from what we figured out was the carpet area behind the beds so when we slept all we could smell was must. Possibly it was flooded at one point in that room? Idk. Had we been staying any longer than we did we would've asked to switch rooms yet again but not so sure that would have worked. Next the air conditioner that was from the 80s in the window stopped working 3 different times to where we couldn't get it to turn back on. My husband "fixed it" each time for a short time. It was miserably hot in there. The cable didn't work at all the first day. The carpet was sticky in both rooms. The dust was an inch thick and the walls were filthy, due to me having a toddler, I personally took the time to dust the whole room and wipe down most of the walls which just needed a simple water and rag wipe down, although after one swipe my rag was black or brown depending the wall. And lastly at 10:15 the cleaning lady came banging on my door as we were getting ready to get all of our stuff out by checkout time which is 11. I opened it and she said "oh you all aren't out of here yet?" And I responded "no ma'am we will probably take all the way up to the actual checkout time". She said "well I guess I can give you all some more time!"........ok then........20 minutes later she comes back banging on the door and says"you all still aren't done?", to which I responded "no we aren't and we still have a few more minutes left technically and I will be using those few minutes" she responded to that by rolling her eyes at me and turning around and walking away never said a thing. Needless to say sometimes motels just don't work out for people and this is one of the few for us. We definitely won't...
Read moreBEDBUGS AND DIRTY
Not more than a few minutes after I laid down, I felt something crawling on my ear. A bedbug had crawled up the pillow. I used my phone light to search around and it took just a few seconds to find another one crawling on the floor between the two beds. I googled a pic just to be sure before calling the desk.
He was nonchalant when I told him, didn't seem the least bit surprised and just said come to the desk and I'll give you another room. He gave me keys for the other side of the hotel. The new room had food under the bed (fruit loops, I think, crumbs and scraps), an empty juice bottle on the floor, someone's sleeping mask, and a fair amount of dust and dinginess including beetle carcasses on the floor, but after inspecting for quite some time, no bedbugs.
I very much get the feeling that they were aware of the bedbug issue already, obviously haven't handled it yet, and I don't feel that it is ethical or honest behavior to put paying guests in a position to potentially infest their homes. I didn't find it an acceptable solution to be rented a filthy room instead, but I was too exhausted to fight them for a refund so I could try to rent a room elsewhere. I had planned to take my time and have a slow morning but checked out at 4 am instead, as I was rested enough to drive.
Pool, hot tub, and hot breakfast are all advertised on the listing but are not provided. There is a good deal of signage posted in lobby, near elevators, and hallways detailing a variety of offenses that guests will be charged for, like not taking out our own trash.

Read morePretty good for the price ($66). Breakfast was good enough - waffle maker was the main attraction. Then there was sausage, yogurt, 2% milk and cereal (frosted flakes or raisin bran). More than satisfactory. The room itself again was nice, absolutely no real complaints. Very comfortable pillows and bed, good temperature control, accessible outlets, what more can you ask for, especially remembering it only cost $66. My only complaint is that the night shift front desk receptionist woman seemed rude/annoyed, like she didn't care about anything, including her job. I asked her for a couple things that night - any ibuprofen/special aid kit that might have asperin or anything? blank, dumb stare, after giving me the stink eye the whole walk over to the desk "...nope". Forgot my toothpaste, asked her if they happened to have a any for guests, while she looked at me as if my entire existence is an insult to her. "... No...". In general, she clearly hates her job, and treats guests like poorly. Not going to judge the hotel based on one bad employee as the others were professional, kind, and accommodating. There is a public hot tub - I didn't get to try it out. Also a public ATM. The location is nice - 24/7 Shell station right down the street. Was able to ask for a late checkout and left at noon. Cheap, comfortable room, full from good breakfast, no issues that impacted the mood/opinion of the place at all. 4/5 because of the rude 3rd shift receptionist (working Friday night 6-8-18/Saturday morning 6-9-18) who was happy to not help us with any...
