EDIT: 8/15/2025 I meant to let ya'll know that they WILL HOLD an extra $100 for incidentals on your credit card. I read over everything on the website & I didn't see that mentioned anywhere on the site. Best Western correct me if I'm wrong. Also B. W. thank you for taking the time to read my review. I really do hope that you implement these changes!
Me & my daughter decided to visit Wisconsin for my birthday & actually wanted to stay in Racine Wisconsin however the hotel prices were not what I was looking for so we ended up going to Milwaukee to stay at a hotel & just did our sightseeing & going to the beach in Racine. We came on Thursday 8/7/2025 & checked out 8/9/2025. The goal was to spend my birthday out of town 8/8 & to have fun. We did on both fronts! 😄 Best Western is not too far away from the highway & it is right across the street from Milwaukee's Airport. Even with that being the case I never once heard an airplane take off or land or fly overhead so that is a positive. We had a double bed mobility room so our room was on the first floor. Although there were grab bars in the bathroom and a little bench in the tub I would have thought for a mobility type room that you could just walk right into the shower & not have to lift your leg up to get into the tub to take your shower. With that being said the room was well cleaned, well stocked, the bathroom was a little small for my liking but that was okay. There was a microwave & a little refrigerator/freezer that kept everything really cold or frozen which was a plus. One of our beds was a little bit firmer than the other bed. The one my daughter was sleeping in it seemed to sink at her weight and she is way lighter than me but I noticed how she was sunk in towards the middle of her body. The service of the front end staff was great! But I gave the 3 stars 🌟 for the rest of the service i.e. the breakfast that we only went to one time (Saturday) during our Thursday, Friday, Saturday; the breakfast was lacking. The eggs seemed to have a lot of liquid at the bottom of the pan & they weren't really hot at all. Maybe cover them up? The potatoes were hard. You could hear how hard they were just by scooping them up and if they fell back into the pan they made a noise. It would have been nice to have some directions on how to actually use the waffle maker because one side of our waffle was way darker than the other side because we didn't know we were supposed to flip the waffle maker. Also there was a problem with a lot of gnats being in the enclosed booth area. So much so that we moved our stuff to the very back behind those booths so that we could have open air space just in case anymore gnats were flying around which we did see a few more. The pool & whirlpool was very nice HOWEVER please tell your employees that the doors that enclose the pool area (the ones in the hallway that connect to other rooms) keep them closed. I was all the way down by door 6 & every time we left it was like a sauna in the hallway. The one time we came back & the door was closed leading to the pool, it was so much cooler. I could tell the door was closed before I even looked down the hall! Other than that we enjoyed our stay. OH & washing & drying your clothes is $2 each AND their is a gym close by the pool area. I only saw ONE ice machine on the 1st floor which was also by the gym. If they had more on the 1st floor I was...
Read moreAll I can say it DON’T stay here!! During our stay, my family and I experienced multiple serious issues that made our visit extremely stressful and unsafe:
Broken AC and Mini-Fridge: The air conditioning in my daughters room was not working, and the mini-fridge was completely non-functional. As a breastfeeding mother, she relies on a working refrigerator to safely store expressed breast milk. This failure was distressing and unacceptable. When we reported these issues to the front desk, the staff dismissed our concerns and simply said it was “a good thing” that the adjoining room’s (my room) fridge worked. No solution or replacement was offered. They had to use my fridge next door and adjust their air conditioning just to cool our own room. Also there is a light right outside the window that shines directly in the window not at the ground and it was only a few feet from the window that was extremely bright all night even with the blinds drawn.
Lack of Response and Accountability: We were told that corporate would be contacted about issuing a refund for our room, but we have not received any communication or resolution.
Serious Safety Incident at the Pool: While attempting to use the hotel pool with our two young children (an eight-month-old and a two-year-old), we had to leave after only a few minutes due to unsafe and uncontrolled conditions. The pool was overcrowded with unsupervised children jumping in and out recklessly, nearly causing my eight-month-old to drown. We immediately notified hotel staff about the unsafe situation, but we were told that there was “nothing they could do” because it was “swim at your own risk.” This response was completely inadequate given the severity of the safety risk to children. A hotel has a duty to maintain safe conditions on its property, especially in an area like a swimming pool.
Lost Engagement Ring and Privacy Breach: After we checked out, my daughter realized that Ishe had accidentally left her engagement ring on the bathroom counter. We contacted the hotel immediately and followed their instructions to send a UPS label so the ring could be shipped back. Instead, we received someone else’s wedding ring. When we called to report the mistake, we were told we would need to pay for another label to return the ring, which we refused. And I told them when they sent me a return label I would gladly send it back. And what ended up happening is the other owner sent me a label to send hers back. And she had hers back in teo days and we waited almost another week and half before your staff resturned our and that was only after i repeatedly called and complained and even was hung up several times. In doing all the they made matters even worse, the hotel shared my personal contact information with the owner of the other ring, who texted me directly. This is a clear violation of privacy and data protection and completely...
Read moreMy domestic partner and I have stayed here several times in the past six years (six plus for her). It had been a couple years (due to COVID) since the last time we did, and we noticed a degradation in the hotel's condition. This time we stayed here the night before our flight and the night after returning. Room-wise, both rooms door latches have seen better days and don't close as securely as they should, and the ac/heater cover in the first night stay room was partially pulled off the unit. The second night stay room the water for the tub/shower didn't hold a consistent temperature, fluctuating from a bit too hot to a bit too cool despite the control handle position not being changed (thinking the mixing valve is worn out), and I could feel cold air intrusion from around the base of the window frame. Looking at the rest of the hotel, the elevator was broken both nights we stayed (four day gap between both nights), which though inconvenient wasn't major for (both able bodied). Looking closely much of the wall paper is starting to peel, has been marred and/or scratched, and in the pool area you can see where there's increasing water vapor and expansion/contraction damage and rusting around the tops of the support columns and beams along the walkways. Some has been roughly patched and painted over, but a lot not. Similar damage (and missing paneling) can be noticed along the base of the overhead greenhouse dome. The night of the second stay the pool area temp dropped quite noticeably between the time of our check in (after 5pm) and about three hours later. Not sure if that's the cycle the heating system is running on, or it's having issues. Was still quite chilly the next morning as we walked through the area for breakfast. Though there used to be a full hot breakfast at the restaurant (buffet was free with night stay), it's now a free continental due to COVID. Asked the desk staff and they don't know if the hot breakfast will ever come back. The sleep and park ease with the airport nearly and free shuttle service is a real positive. Some renovation work has been done to the facility; the lobby area itself looks quite nice and they've done some work on the room bathrooms to make them look more upscale/modern, as well as more modern room decorations too. When looked at as a whole though, it seems half-hearted, like they're trying for maybe good enough to get by. As my domestic partner stated earlier this morning on our way to breakfast, the hotel has good bones and it's been nice in the past, but really needs some work get it back to where it once was. With other hotels also offering shuttle service, the next time we take a trip and fly out of Milwaukee, we'll check out the other options and give them a try before coming back to this particular Best Western.
