COCKROACHES - the front desk responded, “Okay,” then paused, like, “What do you want us to do about it.” The only thing they offered was to spray while we were out playing. It didn’t seem like that big of a deal at first where we only found two roaches on the first day.
We didn’t want them to spray. We didn’t want to be exposed to insecticides, and it was obvious they had already sprayed because half of the roaches we saw during our 5-night stay seemed to be dying when we found them. My wife also believed the roaches were in the drainpipes because there was a foul odor coming from the shower, especially when it dried out, and spraying wouldn’t do anything to stop roaches in the drains.
Once we found two cockroaches in my son’s luggage on our 4th day, we spent $80 on anti-cockroach products including Raid, various sizes of plastic bags, Boric acid powder, peppermint oil, and peppermint spray, basically trying any suggestion found online.
We then spent a half a day or more of our vacation going through all of our stuff, inspecting for roaches, vacuuming items, and sealing everything in plastic bags, including putting our luggage in leaf bags. We also washed everything we had that could go in the washing machine.
When we returned home, we spent another half-day inspecting everything before bringing items into our home. All of this has been a huge inconvenience to three families, and it will be even worse if cockroaches end up in any of our homes.
We looked at reviews and only found one other complaint about roaches, so we don’t know if this a problem for many guests. We had a 3-bedroom on the ground floor, at the very end of the building complex in room 1119. We did see a number of reviews indicating Worldmark canceled reservations on short notice indicating no availability, which made us wonder if these were related to cockroach infestations.
We’ve stayed in many Worldmark resorts, and this is the first time we’ve ever seen cockroaches in our room.
This is tragic because this resort is also the newest Worldmark we’ve ever stayed in. Other than the cockroaches, it’s a fantastic resort. Best of all is that they don’t have pushy sales people on site. So check-in is great.
They have a restaurant on site, which offers a breakfast buffet for $18. We did all of our foodstuff in our room to save money. Groceries and restaurants in Moab seemed more expensive than average, but probably reasonable for a tourist-trap, which Moab very much is.
The pool and hot tubs were nice, and the barbecue grills were great and kept very clean. Unfortunately, no grills were available at any of the rooms. They have an RV parking area and bicycle wash station.
Wifi sucks. There is no cell phone reception in this part of town, so you've got to have wifi to make and receive phone calls. And they CHARGE for Wifi. We paid for 5 devices, which is the maximum. We had 6 adults, and if you connect your phone and a computer, that is two of the allowed devices. So we needed many more connections than the 5 max.
Making this even worse, it's not like if no one is using the wifi, you can simply connect. No, five devices are authorized at a time, and if you're not one of them, someone has to log out before you can log in. I don't mean simply log off, but actually remove their device from being authorized. There are no instructions telling you that you need to do this or describing how to do it.
We had to call to find why one person couldn't simply connect when someone else stopped using the wifi. Then we had to make another call to find out how to remove an authorized device.
This means, and this is hard to believe, if someone in your group used the wifi and then leaves the resort, like drives away, that wifi slot is no longer accessible, no matter what, unless they return and remove their device as one of the authorized devices. This is the most asinine tech service I've heard of in today's...
Read moreBe aware COCKROACHES in bldg ONE! (Still. Another reviewer mentioned ROACHES in the same bldg from four months ago) My family stayed here the last days of Feb 2025-first few days of March. Within the first hour in our ground level 3bdrm unit, 1101, we saw a dying COCKROACH. We gave the benefit of the doubt that it came in through the door & wasn't one of many. We noticed the wood flooring was NOT VACUUMED, with many many crumbs and food bits everywhere. The sofa was grimy and stained. Kitchen chairs, the same. We learned there's never just one cockroach when a few hrs later, a baby COCKROACH scurried across the pillow while laying in bed! We quickly went to the front desk & told them there are COCKROACHES in our room. The gal looked unsurprised, unsympathetic & casually said they would spray tmrw while we are out. Let me get this straight...Worldmark protocol is to expect/hope that guests will be ok with sleeping in a resort that has COCKROACHES scurrying on beds & wait till the next day to spray for them & expect guests to be ok with paying money for this experience?! I don't want to stay in a room that has had COCKROACHES, hope that pesticides will get them all, nor even stay in a room with freshly sprayed pesticides. My husband pushed for different rooms. After making it appear to be a huge inconvenience for THEM, the front desk employee said we could move 2 doors down to another ground level unit. We pushed again for staying in a different bldg off of the ground floor. She said that was all that was available. So we helped her think outside the box and suggested a 2 bdrm & 1 bdrm instead. After a lengthy call with her manger, they offered a 3 bdrm on ground floor in another unit. We knew our daughter's would not like this, so we pushed again for 2nd floor accommodations. Finally, and miraculously (sarcasm) accommodations off the ground floor were offered. It was clear that when they say there are no other options, that that isn't the truth. They simply don't want to make things inconvenient for their schedule/arrangements. It seems like they fill up the same ground level rooms while using the 2nd level only when unavoidable. The 2nd level room was much less worn, cleaner and had no cockroaches. Imagine that, cleanliness correlates with whether there are bugs. It was shocking to read another reviewer mention cockroaches & was asked to remain in the unit, which they did, & ended up paying for a huge hassle instead of paying for a vacation. Even sadder, the very next day, we saw new people in our original, cockroach ridden, unit. Sad.
TLDR: This place has had COCKROACHES from even before Winter, & has not eradicated them as of March. Units with COCKROACHES are not thoroughly vacuumed/cleaned, which would discourage bugs. WM Moab expects guests to remain in these units. Shame on WM for this poor treatment & maintenance of their resort. Are you not in the Hospitality industry, or are you running a...
Read moreThis is a 2-star property.
Based on the reviews, I had higher expectations, but it truly is a 2-star property. Wyndham should remove its flag from this hotel because the owners do not want to be associated with it, they don't even put Wyndham in the name of the property. The hotels refuses to provide any Wyndham Rewards benefits, even when guests are staying on Wyndham Rewards points.
The hotel has decent and relatively new facilities, but signs of rust are starting to show throughout the property. With a year of deferred maintenance, this place will become run-down.
My room was ready when I arrived at 4 pm. However, the same cannot be said for the people checking in around me that had been waiting for hours, they were offered popcorn as compensation for the inconvenience.
I used Wyndham points for my stay, but only basic rooms with 1 trundle queen bed were available for redemption. The room was clean, but it felt cheaply furnished and poorly constructed. The appliances were noisy.
I was assigned a first-floor room, which had its pros and cons. It was convenient to come and go, but I could hear my upstairs neighbor walking around every hour on the hour during both nights of my stay. The walls are thin, so it's advisable to request a room on the top floor. Additionally, I heard dripping sounds in my bathroom whenever the upstairs neighbor used theirs. I couldn't find a visible leak, but I suspect it will become apparent soon.
One of the hot tubs wasn't working, and there were lots of kids splashing around in the pools at all times. The hotel should designate 1/3 of the tubs for adults only and ensure they are properly functioning.
Shockingly, the hotel does not offer free Wi-Fi, not even for elite members. They charge $15 for access to 2 devices, and the charge is not included in your folio for you to discuss with the hotel staff. Instead, it is immediately charged to your credit card separate from the folio. This is absurd considering that one of the advertised benefits on the Wyndham website is free Wi-Fi. It's hard to believe that a hotel in this day and age can get away with such a policy.
In summary, the hotel is currently clean, but it will likely disappoint you if you expect what you believe it offers. To call it a resort is laughable, maybe a...
