Wasn’t expecting much, but this was the worst lodging experience of my life. We called to book a non-smoking room after accidentally booking a smoking room online a couple weeks before we showed up. The representative switched us to a non-smoking room with a kitchenette and charged us extra for the upgrade.
When we got there, we were surprised with a smoking room, no kitchenette. Nicotine stains were visibly dripping down the walls, the room reeked of cigs. Asking for a partial refund was like pulling teeth, although the front desk lady was generally pleasant and a great conversationalist. Eventually we decided to just stay with some friends from the group we were in town with, who had an extra bed in their room a few doors down from our original room. We informed the check-in desk of this and requested a refund for our room, which was entirely reasonable given the bait and switch they pulled on us.
The check-in person called the owner several times to ask if she could refund us and informed us that this would not be possible, as we had checked in more than 45 minutes ago, but that they could refund us for the next night, which we had already paid for. I requested that she pull up our receipt so I could prove we didn’t get what we paid for and she pulled up the initial online booking (which she had supposedly changed when we called her weeks prior) and it showed a two-bed smoking unit. Again, we were GIVEN a one-bed smoking unit. I pointed out that the room we had first booked also didn’t match what we were provided, and she stated that the number of beds “didn’t matter” and that the owner flat-out refused to make it right.
So, we paid for a grimy room that was not what we booked and shared another room with friends. This room smelled slightly less like cigarette smoke, which while not ideal, beat the cigar club stench of our first unit.
Scammy, unprofessional management aside, the place is sketchy. We had a couple of strung-out teenagers walk directly into our room and ask for cigarettes at around 10PM. From 2:30 to 5:00AM, an amped-up tweaker lady in the unit below us was screaming at someone/something in her room and slamming dresser drawers. There was a pungent smell of ammonia/urine at certain points of the balcony walkway at all hours.
The only reason this place is still open is that it’s the only motel/hotel in Mollala. I’ve stayed in some dumps, but this place takes the cake. The owner is the short-term lodging version of a slum lord preying on...
Read moreI found this motel by typing in cheap motels in the Oregon City area and I always wanted to explore Molalla so I gave this motel a try. The desk manages are both very kind and very helpful. The rooms are small but very well maintained and very clean. I stay frequently on the weekends at many different motels mostly Best Westerns, LaQuinta, Shilo..etc. I usually have 4 criteria that lets me judge the quality of the motel that is cleanliness, comfort of the bed and bedding, the tv and cable provider and also if the wifi is decent. Well I must say the Stagecoach passes the test on all of those criteria the wifi is probably the best even over the much pricier of hotels/motels! The Directv cable offers plenty of cable channels on a large flat screen tv in each room. The bedding and the bed itself was very comfortable although a hint bring your own pillows for added comfort. And the motel is very clean although the carpeting and furniture is older. The hotel is located across the street from the US Post office and the street is quieter in the evening. I got a room that faced the street and you can park next to your room or the rooms on the other side of the building you can park right up to the room door. The rooms have adjoining doors between rooms but the rooms are fairly soundproofed. As other reviewers have noted it is a little noisy but by later evening it does become very quiet. The on the primisis dining is also nice. The Chinese restaurant actually is rather quaint and has very good food at reasonable prices. I have not explored other restaurants in the area other than the Safeway deli which has plenty of reasonable price foods that can be brought back to the motel. There is a nice sized refrigerator and microwave in each room. Also close by is a wonderful small antique mall with nice offerings. I highly recommend this motel which has allot to offer for a small price nightly! There is no breakfast offered nor does the room have a coffeemaker but if you ask they will supply you with a loaner coffeemaker but you must supply your own coffee or tea. There is coffee to drink in the office by the cup...
