I stayed in a suite in a corner room. The furnishings at the Baymont in Monterey Park are pretty comfortable overall. The suite are not as much a suit, as they are a deluxe room, there is no separation between bed and the desk and couch area. In general I enjoyed staying here, it had a free breakfast every morning which is always helpful and the selection was slightly better than the hot breakfast served at most motels and hotels.||The extra large space of this room is good if you will be conducting business or working in your room, by making some simple furniture rearrangements, however the lighting in the room was poor, I brought in my LED White Light Strip for extra lighting.||In general I have no complaints about the rooms contents other than the poor lighting. |It had a work table, two free standing lamps with low watt bulbs, a couch that could be used as a sofa bed, typical other hotel room items.||THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:||1. Way over priced by at least $65||2. No guest laundry||3. Parking under the building is cramped and the worst lit parking of any motel or hotel I have experienced nationally. (Do not stay here if you have any kind of visual impairments and are driving)||4. Connecting Rooms. This suite had a door connecting it to the suite next to it. This allows noise from that room to easily carry into your room, it allows air from that room including virus’s to enter your room, it makes it easier for an unscrupulous guest to ease drop on your room with audio or video.||5. The bathroom had a large window in the shower facing the street and parking entrance, though it was white film covered, due to the lighting inside the room shining towards the shower, it would make for a really interesting silhouette shadow peep-show for any across the street. There were no blinds or curtains so an enormous amount of light came into the bathroom and into the room in the morning. The window also made the bathroom cold. The window could be opened but had no screen. I placed a blackout cloth over the window during my stay at this location.||6. While the food was good, they have a policy that you have to eat breakfast in their little dinning room. In the age of post-covid, having a lot of people in a little area that doesn’t have air filtration wasn’t ideal.||7. The “Business Room” next to the workout room was packed about four feet high with what appeared to be old broken furniture.|8. The floors made really loud noises when walking across some areas of the room. I could hear the guests above me walking once in a while, I could hear the guest in the connecting room walking around and making noise. I could hear the guests in the connecting room talking. I was running two portable air purifiers in the room at either side on high setting and it was barely enough white noise to mask talking and phone conversations. I could hear the connecting room shower almost as loud as the shower in my room.||9. From a Wyndham Diamond Member perspective, this location was like every Wydham I’ve stayed at in California. No thank you for being a member, no curtsy parking, check-in bottle of water, no suite upgrades. If you want those things you pretty much have to leave California or stay with a different chain.||With all things good and bad included, I think the thing that struck me the most was the amazingly high prices to stay at this location. I specifically chose this location to review and stay at because it was the highest priced Wyndham I could find in a fifty mile radius. Price to features, it is a major disappointment. Comfortable for short stays. Anything more than a week and you will have to spend half a day at a laundry-mat which I was told is about 15...

Read moreStayed two nights here while visiting family nearby. We had a double queen room on the 2nd floor. Overall decent hotel for a fair price, no major complaints, but feels dated and somewhat institutional.
Facilities: building and furnishings are clean though show some wear. Hallways are dark—few windows with natural light (the windows on our floor had film covering so you couldn’t see out, which is probably okay because the view looks out onto some kind of electrical company facility. There is a pool but we didn’t learn it was closed until we checked in which was disappointing.
Rooms: surprisingly comfortable beds, decent size room, fridge in room, standard amenities. Room was clean but a bit dated. Bathroom had a shower tub that was good size. Hot water readily available but water pressure from shower rather weak. The window bathroom was sealed and didn’t open. We couldn’t hear guests in adjoining rooms but you could hear foot traffic in hallway.
Parking: parking is in garage under building. Garage is rather dark and empty, slightly creepy. Beware when parking in some sections as the ceiling is low and the power lift gate on our vehicle hit a pipe when it was raising up.
Meals: there are snacks and beverages for purchase in lobby. Breakfast is included—usually scrambled eggs (seems like mass packaged), bacon or sausage, fried potatoes with cheese, and a waffle station. There’s a selection of cold cereal (Fruit loops, Raisin Bran, etc), milk, yogurt, some fresh fruit (apple or banana), and English muffin and bread for toasting, along with usual packaged jam, butter, peanut butter. Quality is okay, typical hotel/motel type breakfast. You are not allowed to take food out of the dining room.
Staff: everyone we encountered (front desk, cleaning, dining room staff) were friendly.
Location: very close to Hwy 60. Costco, Chic-fil-A, Ono Hawaiian bbq, Starbucks, and In-n-Out are just up the road, less than 5 mins away. Also nearby are Albertsons supermarket, CVS, Best Buy, Del Taco. It’s possible to walk to these but would be at least 15-20 minutes. It’s a bit tricky to pull out of the hotel driveway due to the...
