Happy Family — Restaurant in Montebello

Eating here brings good memories. Coming back as an adult and being able to bring my own opinion, helps me appreciate the place more.

Taste - We ordered the lunch special which included rice and soup. We ordered the egg flower and hot sour soups, they were the right temp and tasted good. Then we ordered the house chow mein and Mongolian beef. The house chow mein was a bit too oily for me but it had 3 different types of protein in there (shrimp, chicken and beef). The protein was cooked through but could’ve used more flavor on it. The Mongolian beef has a great flavor and paired with the green onion was tasty, however some meat pieces were really chewy. The rice was great and paired well with the food. The portions were good for 2 people and enough to spare.

Customer Service - Food came out really quick. Its hard to say about the service because of the language barrier. I had a difficult time trying to find out what was included in the plates but it seemed that, if there was an issue, we could have it fixed. After the initial taking of the order, we didn’t communicate with the server again..

Price - The price I must say is great for the portions. We ordered through the lunch special menu but I’d imagine it’s only a couple more dollars for dinner. The special options are great because it comes with loads of rice and some soup.

In conclusion, great spot for the family to take full advantage of the portions and the menu is large so you can enjoy what you like. I will come back so I can enjoy a different dish! Fortune cookies were a nice surprise for the...

The service is very quick. Restaurant is clean and neat. I could see part of the kitchen from my table and the kitchen was very clean and bright. The food was cooked to order and served piping hot. You can tell the ingredients are very fresh by the delicious aroma and taste. They used the thinner delicious noodles to make the Chow Mein dish tasty and lighter. Service was okay for as close to closing time. Be quick to pay as close to the check amount if you are paying cash. Try to give exact amount, if you can. They seem to consider any over payment to be a tip! Well, anyway, they didn't bring me back my change. I would have left them a tip, but I like to have the choice. Even when they have delicious flavor, last time the experience was bittersweet. I always leave a generous tip in the credit card voucher. This time I was going to leave the tip in cash, therefore the voucher read 0 on the tip line. I understand that the servers make their way of living by means of the tip, we as SATISFIED customers leave. But we are not obliged to leave anything, especially if we don't feel very well treated.
