The Courtyard by Marriott Morgan Hill, kinda sucks... I ended up staying at the Hilton Hampton Inn... much better options
I am both a Hilton Gold Elite and Marriott Platinum Elite status. I needed to be in Morgan Hill for the day for car repairs and not being from the area, I needed a place to stay during the day to catch a nap and get some work done.
I reached out first to Marriott Courtyard... and it was a nightmare from the start... nobody at the front desk picked up. Finally got through and the front desk person, didn't understand what I was talking about. They transferred me to the manager... but I was disconnected (of course)... I called back, no answer... again... no answer.... again, got the same clerk who again transferred me to the manager but it went to VM... I couldn't even speak to someone who understood my question. What kind of service is this? I mean, I have 30 nights this year and 415,000 points in my register... it's not like I need a room to do a dope deal yeah?
I called the general reservation line and Marriott's response was "we don't have day rates".. Ok, I'm not asking for any discount or a "day rate", just a regular room rate with an extra-early check in... sorry sir, "we don't do that".. like what I'm going to have a party here or something?
So, I called the Hampton Inn and not only was I warmly greeted, when I asked my question, the response was, "let me see if we have availability for an early check-in"... why yes sir, this will not be a problem...
So, here I am in my nice comfortable room at the Hampton Inn.... Check in was a breeze, my room is great and what a refreshing attitude here!
I guess the moral of this story is Marriott cannot think outside the box... Oh, Platinum Elite status.... not worth the price of admission. Thank you Hampton Inn for accommodating my clearly...
Read moreJust as you losing faith in a humanity there are two staff members who went the extra mile here to make sure that my laundry that hadn't been dried in the dryer was dry. This is something they didn't have to do but they did it anyway. They went the extra mile and Diana with her smile helped me get my laundry dry brought it up to my room and got my back on my way. In my recent stays at hotels the staff members have always been all about the hotel all about what we can and cannot do oh we can't do this we can't do that. But out here in Morgan Hill at the courtyard Marriott especially the staff Diana and her counterpart I've got an extra mile to make sure that my knees have been intended to. They allowed me to park my RV out in the back and get my clothes organized it allowed me to come in and out hours they were willing to give me an extra key when I lost my key. Is staff like this that here that makes me believe that when they say they're going to hire people that go the extra mile. It is really true. I believe the courtyard by Marriott has done an excellent job out here in Morgan Hill for the staff and it's resources. Even though they're bistro and bar closed there are tables around for everybody to use. There is a courtyard with tables for people to eat and play. Even though in a busy shopping mall area is nice and quiet during your stay. I really appreciate the extra mile of the stuff is gone here they've done well and above beyond what other people normally do. In a world of do's and don'ts and usually it's a don't these guys have done an extra job to actually do a do. If I was at I had a place to stay and need a place to stay in Morgan Hill the courtyard by Marriott would definitely be my...
Read moreWe are Titanium members having stayed at Marriott hotels and their affiliates all over the world. Granted it is the time of COVID, but like many Marriott hotels these days this hotel management is taking advantage of the situation. They should be delighted to have the business and treat their customers like valued guests. There was no accommodation for the closed restaurant, no bagged or boxed food offered at all. No credit for that. There were no amenities except a bar of soap. No body cream. They said Marriott Corp is demanding no Kleenex - well then put the small packages in each room. If no Kleenex is due to the touch concern of the headquarters, then why glass glasses one of which had an oily fingerprint on the inside. The hotel has been refurbished on the surface but the bathtub/shower is vintage 70s or 80s. And that's not a claw tub. An elevator that needs serving and was full of food debris. Only one person working. We would never come back. We stay at Marriotts for consistency and we understand the COVID cautions, but we are reconsidering moving our hotel needs to another company due to a Marriott in downtown San Jose and then several lousy Courtyards we've bern subjected to. Maybe Courtyard should be moved to its own silo of the Marriott's business structure and noted as problem areas. They are clearly franchises and abuse their customers while baiting them to stay for the Marriott moniker then switching to just another crummy hotel experience. Marriott Corp should|be embarrassed. One last thing, their sign is not visible from most directions. Who owns and manages this place? Maybe the are running...
