Was I’m Morgan Hill today visiting a friend....... After I left I was feeling like some good Mexican food so I broke out the ol phone and did me a Yelp search. As usual a ton of Mexican restaurants popped up. As I scanned the places this one caught my eye, with a lot of reviews and a solid rating. I started looking at posted pictures and was blown away by what they have to offer and how delicious it looks. As I walked in I noted that they have 2 seating areas with the cooking area in the middle. then I hit a wall!!! Of patrons that is. Seriously ever table was taken and there were what looked to me like 50 people in line!! “Well maybe not that many, but it’s my review and I can embellish it anyway I want laugh out loud” the line move quickly..... that is until I got to the front, I asked the nice lady a lot of questions trying to figure out what to order cuz, well it all looked so darn good. I ended up ordering a carnitas super burrito, a sope Alpastor and a fried “ filleted Fried fish taco” oh yay and a coke from da dispenser. The burrito with big chunks of meat, avocado cheese and sour cream to name just a few ingredients in it, was very good “I added 3 different home made salsa to it along with fresh lime and a hot bell type pepper to it. (From the condiment bar) now usually I like to try the salsas and end up finding one that I like, not so at this place. They were all hella GOOD! The Sope shell was thicker than what I’m used to eating but the Alpastor “with pineapple” OH MY GOSH, SOOOOO INCREDIBLY GOOD. The fish taco was also a pleasant surprise, I was expecting small pieces of fish, instead I got a real “big” piece of Fried filleted fish. Actually that alone was a meal in itself please see pictures. The flavor, like the rest of the food I ordered was very good. Total cost of the meal was $22.56 including 2 sodas. “What?.... you didn’t think I ate that all by myself did you?” My only complaint is because they were so busy, they could not bust the tables or Empty the full trash. So -1 on the stars, otherwise I would have definitely given them 5 stars. “This place is a gem and I hope they stay in business for many years to come....
Read moreI questioned my dietary choices after I ate here. This place does veggie breakfast burritos different. My veggie burrito came with one tiny piece of ham. I had never had a veggie burrito with meat before and honestly, it was pretty good. I took the piece of ham out, but I think it gave my veggie burrito the flavor it needed. What if I just kept that little piece of ham there? Or what if next time I just order a burrito with meat in it? Would my taste buds be overwhelmed by all that flavor? For a second, I thought about adding meat into my vegetarian diet, but then remembered the film, Game Changers, on Netflix. As long as that film stays ingrained in my head, meat will not be making a comeback into my diet anytime soon. It was a nice try by this little piece of ham. Buddying up with some veggies would be the way to sneak into my diet. Unfortunately, for this piece of ham, I got eyes like a hawk. I wouldn't be surprised if I have 20/5 vision. The optician would have to make a new category for me and I'd be the only one there. I don't read, but if I did, I could do it with minimal lighting. Driving in the dark while it's raining is too easy for me. Okay, I'm done flexing on my eyesight. This 99% veggie burrito was really good. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because I feel like hard core vegetarians would want their veggie burrito to be...
Read moreWe decided to see the fireworks show in Morgan Hill this year. So, for dinner, we tried to find a new place to eat.
This restaurant, having only been open for a few months now, is a small, order at the counter location in a strip mall, nestled between Baskin Robins and Sally's Beauty Salon. Everything has the feeling of "new" here, including the tables, chairs, counters and menus hanging above their cooktop.
We had dinner there with another family, so we totaled 12 and were able to move around tables and sit together in the small space.
While I think their chips could be thinner and crispier, the rest of the food was excellent. I tried had the tacos - shrimp and alpastor (marinated pork with pineapple). The alpastor was my favorite and the shrimp tacos were very good and on the spicy side. I took bits of the kids' bean and cheese burritos, which were great too.
As for the staff, they were happy and helpful while being patient as we mulled over the menu. In fact, we lingered a little while there talking with our friends, so they delivered a platter of churros filled with gooey goodness, just to be nice.
It is right off 101 and I'll be making it a regular pit stop as we travel south out of...
