AmericInn by Wyndham Mounds View Minneapolis — Hotel in Mounds View

If there was more Stars to give I would give them in a heartbeat. My fiance And I are a couple of hotel goer's and we love our staycations, so we have stayed at quite a few hotels and motels around MN... With that being said i MUST say that this AmericInn hotel by Wyndham/The Mermaid entertainment and event Center here in Mounds View, MN is by far with no comparison THE BEST HOTEL that we have seen around this area. After checking into our room we ordered some food from room service that was made at The Mermaid and then brought over to our room. This place goes above and beyond with their AMAZING attitudes and their customer service. Joe brought over our food and we didn't hear him knock so he walked back over to The Mermaid and then contacted us, and from most places we would of gotten attitude and probably would of had to walk over and get our food ourselfs. NOT HERE, Joe was amazing and even though he was very busy over at The Mermaid, Joe insisted that it was ok and that he would be over shortly with it food again. LET ME TELL YA, the food we ordered was the best we had both had in a good while. I have been on a mission to find the place around here that has amazing cheese curds and till we can here I had not found anything even remotely close too amazing. THE CHEESE CURDS AND ONION RINGS HERE LITERALLY JUST BECAME #1 IN MY BOOK ARE A MUST HAVE IF YOU EVER STOP BY HERE. after eating we went exploring and checked out the gaming room that was here with so many different cool games to try out. We stopped my the bar where the bartender Sky poured us up a couple of perfectly mixed drinks. From the bar we mosied down to check out the bowling, where we happened to run into Joe (the one that brought our food) again who was running the bowling. Joe was so prompted with helping us get all checked in and shooed up and ready for bowling even With how busy it was. I'm also a person that's full of questions about places we stay, and Joe was happy to answer all my questions I had with a smile on his face. Joe was very knowledgeable and beyond helpful with everything. I know that when I plan my next event that it is going to be here and I'll be requesting Joe to be the one that helps. SHOUT OUT TO YOU JOE FOR BEING AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ROCK STAR AT YOUR JOB HERE! YOU SIR HAVE GREAT POTENTIAL WITH WHAT YOU DO!|Now this morning we went down for the continental breakfast... YUMMM! They just only have waffles but there were eggs and bacon and sausage gravy and biscuits just to name a few. There were plenty of people down there when we went and normally that means that all the good stuff is gone except the waffles. To my extatic surprise there was still plenty of the eggs and stuff. We owe a big THANK YOU to Tammy who was the one running all over the place keeping all in line and cleaned up and stocked. She could tell when someone needed help with something and Tammy, dawning the most inviting and lovely smile ever was right there to see what she could do for us and what she could help with. Thank you so much Tammy for sharing your kindness with us while we were there!! I really can't say enough about how wonderful this stay has been here. 100% without a doubt we will be coming back here.. When I booked our reservation I requested a main floor room. My husband has severe back and hip pain making it hard for him to walk, stand even sit. I did not explain this in the request, didn't think I needed to. Unfortunately, on arrival we find that we are booked into room 315. We gave it a try. Very difficult. Long walk to get to the elevator, hard for him standing in the elevator and another long walk down the hall to the room. I left him sitting on the bed and returned to the front desk. I explained our problem in more detail than the simple request for a main floor room during the initial request while booking. The registering agent at the front desk looked and found there were NO rooms available on the main floor. I explained that I had made this request when booking the room. She then reached out the to General Manager who was available in house. After explaining to him the importance of needing a main floor room and that I had requested it when booking he began to review the possibilities of switching rooms. He found that I had indeed made this request at the time of booking. That made me feel better about my pursuit of a main floor room. After a few minutes of his searching for a room that would be a good switch he did manage to give us a room on the main floor. He was soft spoken and fully understanding of our need. He was very reassuring and a great example of leadership. The room was super clean and well supplied with amenities. Another wonderful thing was the breakfast. It had the usual foods found in a hotel breakfast with the exception of the quality. The quality of these foods went way above and beyond the normal. EVERYTHING was fresh. Hot when it was suppose to be hot and cold where it should be cold. EVERYTHING!!! The hostess was on top of making sure everything was well supplied and fresh. Tables were cleaned foods and coffee replenished. She literally ran her butt off doing this with a smile on her face. We did give her a tip each morning for her dedication to her job. REMINDER: Giving the food prep/server a generous tip should be automatic at a hotel IF the quality of food and service is demonstrated to be above and beyond, as it was at this hotel. As well as leaving a tip to housekeeping for a well cleaned and supplied room. Show your appreciation to people who do a good job serving YOU. Stayed at AmericInn Mounds View, MN for a week. The place is nice, clean, with friendly staff. Great location for travelers, easy access on and off the highway, many businesses, such as restaurants, food places, coffee shop, gas station, and more, are located on Mounds View Blvd (Hwy 8). ||The room was clean, bed very comfortable with comfortable bed linens. Bathroom towels were very white, and of very good quality. Water pressure in shower was decent. Television station options were adequate. Free, hot breakfast was modest and decent (some other Americinns in other cities have a bigger selection, but this one was adequate for our needs, given the reasonable price for the room). Love the make your own waffles!||Window in the room can be opened a tiny bit, which was nice to be able to do; though when smokers stood underneath the window (the room was on the second floor) secondhand smoke came into the room. The good news is there were not many smokers doing that; however, ideally a designated smoking area would be created, and located 40 - 50 feet from the building.||Except for guests who let their doors slam shut, the place was nice a quiet. We've stayed at the Mounds View AmericInn many times in the past, as well as others in other cities; and we will plan to return to the Mounds View AmericInn in the future - it's a very good value...
