Cons: Customer service is strangely absent. When trying to reach their Minnesota branch, we're consistently sent to voicemail, which is always full. Emails, if responded to, are heavily delayed in response. Calls to their corporate office are well received and attentive, but even they can't seem to reach the local branch. Local customer service requires a severe overhaul. When we have been successful in reaching Vallen, we were told by both sales and customer service that they were terribly busy and have been swamped. We even attempted to place a large order, but after three weeks and multiple chased confirmations of receipt, we still don't have a price on a widely stocked carbide insert. Attempts to set up an account with Vallen have been a significant struggle. Despite being a debt-free, privately owned, multi-million dollar business with an MRO spend of nearly 7-figures, we've tried for 3 weeks, immediately responding to any requests, yet still somehow remain unsuccessful. Pros: Past use of their services demonstrated highly competitive pricing in most areas of safety, abrasives, cutting tools, and misc common parts.
Despite having a past relationship with Vallen, I'm highly disappointed in where they've gone. I have to have a dependable source for materials and Vallen has struck out in all fields after giving them considerable time and communication, far more than any company deserves.
