We're in between how we feel about our stay. While the room was nice and we got to pick the first floor (note that there are no elevators), it definitely wasn't all ideal. When we visit again, we'll be going to the Hampton Inn instead. I've listed all the pros and cons for us and why we personally wouldn't stay there again. We were traveling with 2 adults and 1 toddler for 3 days/2 nights.
PROS: --Newly renovated room was very nice and clean looking. --Really big TV that swivels and the channels were good enough that we had several kid appropriate shows to pick from, like Bluey and the Star Wars movies. --The shower has a mat, so you don't slip, and it was very clean. No mold or mildew buildup on it. --Although online said they were low on rooms, they let us pick first or second floor. --Staff was very friendly!
CONS: --There's no traditional free continental breakfast included. As listed on their website, you get 1 voucher per person for a free breakfast at the Wingers next store (easy walling distance, at least). What the website fails to mention is that you can't get seconds, like you would at a restaurant with an in-house free breakfast. All of their yogurt was expired, and the portions sizes were sad. The fruit tasted old and bland. Even worse is that they expect you to tip! The food we got was clearly the same type of food you would normally get at a hotel, nothing upgraded or restaurant level, and for a meal that is supposed to be included in the cost of your hotel stay, it's frustrating to then be expected to tip. The alternative option is to pick a meal from the Wingers menu, and they'll discount it $7 toward your entire check - not pee person. We opted out of breakfast on our second morning. --We picked a room with 2 queen size beds, and the beds were definitely not queen size. We used to own a queen size bed, and when my boyfriend laid down, his arms didn't go over the sides. When he laid down on the beds here, both of his arms went over the side. They were definitely closer to full-size beds, if not actual full-size beds. --The beds were stiff and not comfortable for us. My boyfriend woke up with shoulder pain. --The mini fridge has no freezer, which was a bummer for us because I had an ice pack I needed to use and was unable to. --There's no safe. It's not a huge inconvenience, but noteable. We find about 50/50 of the hotels we stay at have one. --The complimentary lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bar were very small. Only enough for my boyfriend to use. A lot of places these days have the dispensers in the shower and for hand soap, which we like much more. The bar of soap for washing your body was also meant to be used for your hands. Luckily, we brought our own toiletries. --The shower head is not ideal for someone who needs hard water pressure. I have long, thicker hair, and the shower head was one of those rain styles. I couldn't adjust the setting, so washing my hair took twice as long. It was very soft water pressure, and that style of showerhead means the water comes out widespread, so it takes longer to get all of your hair wet. --The coffee/tea is in the closet in the bathroom. Which isn't awful, but it's a weird place to put it and not the...
Read moreSecond review in my lifetime im writing Stephanie is probably the most unhelpful person you will ever come in contact with while traveling. Avoid her at all costs.. She explained that 5 people were allowed in the room I had rented, and 20 people total were allowed in the pool area. But my 2 guests, because I didn't check in with them, were not allowed in the pool area, ok fine. She then went on to say there was absolutely no way I could add 2 guests to my 3 more night reservation. She said she had never done it before and that it is just absoulutly not possible. She said she couldn't possibly go over every single policy when checking people in (how about the one policy in the only amenity space you offer in the middle of summer?). She then threatened to kick us out of my room. and told us to get out of the lobby. After calling the 800 number she gave me because she decided she was done doing her job, I confirmed that not only is it possible to add people to a reservation, its very common when accommodating travelers, and it would have costed a few dollars more a night. Her and her "manager" that she had on the phone have no business being in the service industry or hospitality industry. They were both anything but accommodating , I can't even explain how unhelpful they were and unwilling to offer any solution at all. Avoid avoid. Youre better off at the sister property across the way so you don't have to deal with this sad example of hospitality. Without these two people im sure the place...
Read moreThe hotel was one of best we've stayed at in a while. The rooms were nothing too special but they were clean and roomy. But be CAREFUL they still have smoking rooms so you need to make sure to state kon smoking if that's your preference. ALL of the staff was awesome! Front desk was so helpful and housekeeping was very friendly. They have a beautiful pool with a waterfall. The thing I appreciated the most was their quality control. After housekeeping did their job the supervisor went around and checked every single room to make sure it was up to the proper standards. Maybe every hotel does that and I just don't see it. But I happened to notice here. There were also many maintenance people out cleaning the pool, checking the sprinklers, doing things that I don't always see get done at other hotels. Rather than offering a continental breakfast here they send you across the parking lot to Wingers, which is a restaurant and alehouse. Either you get a free hot breakfast from the list or a $6 voucher per person off any meal you choose. If you are a truck driver this place is even better for you. They offer a significant truck driver discount and have a large, easily accessible lot in the back...
