Update based on owners response: Why should I have to address things at the table, when they were already aware of what the issue was, and when I’m sure they knew they THREW our straws in the table? Shouldn’t you be able to recognize your own behavior? Also, my mom just updated me after they left. She said the lady said “I hope it was nothing I did to make them leave.” Obviously, recognizing her poor behavior and service to say that.
Quite possibly, the WORST customer service I’ve received. My husband and I walked in to get a table for ourselves and the rest of my family for dinner. Saturday evening, around 7:30- not very crowded, decent, but not busy. We greeted the hostess (young, maybe late teens with brassy blonde streaked hair) and asked if we could get a table for 5. She sat us to the left of the restaurant at a table that was adequate size. She sat our menus down, and walked away. As my husband and I approach the table, we come to find straw wrappers, greasy fingerprints, and food all over the table. I went back up there, and the hostess was busy. I approached one of the other waitresses (dark hair, possibly mid-30’s with glasses) and asked if we could get reseated to another table because we got placed at a dirty one. Her immediate response was, “How about I just clean this one for ya?” To which I said, “Whatever works.” No apologies for either the filth, or the inconvenience. By this point, enough time had passed for me to explain what was happening to my mom and dad. My mom pointed to another table and told the waitress that we were going to sit there instead. At this time, said waitress sarcastically blurts out “Well, she decided for everyone, you’re sitting over here.” Now comes the time for us to order drinks, and we all order water, minus my mom who had already ordered a coffee. When she brings the waters out, she passes it out to everyone, and when she gets to my husband and I, she literally and FORCIBLY threw down our straws on the table. At this point, my husband had enough of the customer service (well, lack there of), and walked out of the restaurant. Then, she starts taking orders. My brother, dad and mom order, with my mom being the last one. My mom had specific details to ask for over easy eggs, and for pico de gallo on the side. Not a hard or unreasonable request. She’s taking quite some time to get the order in the device they use, and she said “sorry, I’m writing a LOT of notes here.” She then looks at me, and I said “I’m good.” So she then rudely takes the menus off the table and walks away. At this point, I get up and walk away. I have never gotten up and left a restaurant- however, this, was just completely horrific. You’d think customer service would be top tier in a small, homey town like Mountain Home. The service we received was completely uncalled for. Don’t get a job in CUSTOMER SERVICE, if you can’t provide it,...
Read moreUPDATE: The response to my review from management is absolutely ridiculous from start to finish. And full of falsehoods. The lovely young server that waited on our table was definitely not "worried" about me.... She was sweet and only "worried" about making the Lemon Drop cocktail I ordered several minutes after "the minute [I] sat down." There was no bartender on duty. I don't know who wrote this response but it was certainly not by anyone who was present when I dined, and most definitely not by the lovely young lady who waited on us. Lie if you must to get around the fact that the product your establishment provides is absolutely awful. Good luck with that approach. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I really don't know how this place gets anything over 2 stars. I wanted to give it 3 stars because the young server was trying hard in obviously subprime conditions, but I just couldn't go above 2. I went with friends (local to the area) and ordered a Lemon Drop to start with (-yes, they have a full liquor license). The server let me know it would take awhile because "we always have to look up the recipe and it's complicated." Yup, no bartender on staff. Whaaaahh? Ok. Got it 15 minutes later and it was... warm vodka in a small martini glass with, well, I dunno. Lemon sugar? $9. For lunch I ordered a patty melt.... A patty melt = burger, swiss cheese, grilled onions on rye bread, hold the thousand island, thanks. How can you make a Patty Melt absolutely inedible? And disgusting?? I don't know how that is actually even possible but Savory Layne achieved this miracle somehow! Wow. That said, the waffle fries were fine, I think, though a little soggy-cold. I pooped constantly and runnily the entire next day. Sorry, TMI. The last straw was the men's room: It not only needed a new..... everything, but Really needed a good, all-out cleaning. Hell, I would've settled for a trash can that was not overflowing.... And no, they were not in the middle of a huge rush. Sorry, but be warned and stay AWAY. There's a Wingers a block away, and several fast food joints nearby including Subway and Jack in the Box. All will be a far better experience than this way overpriced, disgusting...
Read moreTitle: A Disheartening Dining Experience at Savory Layne
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
My recent visit to Savory Layne, a supposed steakhouse in Mountain Home, was nothing short of a disappointment. From the moment I stepped in, I was met with a wave of unpleasant odors that set the tone for what was to come.
The food was a major letdown. The steak, a supposed specialty, was overcooked, tough, and lacked any discernible flavor. It was a far cry from what one would expect from a reputable steakhouse. The sides were equally lackluster, showcasing a clear lack of attention to detail and a disregard for quality.
The state of the facility was equally disheartening. Uncleanliness seemed to be a recurring theme. The unpleasant smell that greeted me upon arrival seemed to emanate from every corner of the restaurant. The bathroom was a particular low point; it was dirty, unkempt, and lacked basic hygiene standards. The sinks were stained and hadn't seen a proper cleaning in what appeared to be a long time.
The attitude of the employees was another concerning aspect of my visit. They seemed visibly frustrated and even angry, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere for patrons. It's disheartening to witness such a lack of professionalism in a service-oriented industry.
Overall, my experience at Savory Layne was one I won't soon forget - for all the wrong reasons. I would strongly caution anyone considering dining here to think twice and explore other options in the area. This establishment has a long way to go before it can even hope to meet the standards expected of a...
