Refurbished military barracks which are sparse but spacious for $55/nite. The recent refurbished rooms are $100/nite & look nicer (pic). Still a good price for the area since the TV is large & the room has plenty of places for clothes & things. All rooms have a full-sized apartment fridge (smaller but a full fridge/freezer), smaller microwave, a coffee-maker & desk/chair. Front desk is left "unmanned" at strange times "for lunch" (6:45-7:45pm?) Signage is terrible for the lobby/registration bc there are several signs that don't actually go to the lobby so you can walk around & thru the bldg for a while before you find it. Still would recommend it for it's convenience to Ames & the value. Hard to get a reservation during the summer with all the interns here (purportedly ~1,500 of them from May...
Read moreI stayed in one of the renovated, nice rooms in B19. The rooms are nicer than more expensive hotels I’ve stayed at. I love the overhead rain showerhead and the heated towel rack in the bathroom, it gives a luxurious feel. The rooms are spacious and have a comfortable bed, desk with chair, tv, fridge with a separate freezer (major win), really soft plush carpet, AC, lots of cabinet/hanging and dresser storage, and the TP and Kleenex are thicker than at most hotels I’ve stayed at. 10/10 stay. The staff are responsive, accommodating, and helpful. Room was...
Read moreOk, "Motel 6" style rooms, convenient for a quick night's stay, although internet connection is only available for NASA employees & contractors. Prices range from $75, $85 & $200+ a night. Not sure what the hoopla is about the $200 rooms other than NASA is "competing" with off-base hotel chains. (???). However stay away from the $75 rooms as there are reports of a bed bug...
