Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mountain View Silicon Valley, an IHG Hotel — Hotel in Mountain View

As of Nov 2023 Hotel Fairchild (in the process of being rebranded as an IHG Holiday Inn) is pretty good value for silicon valley. Renovations are almost complete so the rooms feel new, but some of the common facilities aren't there yet. As such, I think there's still a construction discount currently built into the price and it will go up, but it was remarkably cheap (USD$130 for some off-peak nights) for an expensive area and generously proportioned and refreshed room.

The big thing to consider is the road noise from the 101. Despite obvious efforts to reduce the noise (two sets of windows, both double glazed) I could still hear the constant thrum of the traffic and the occasional hoon or large truck hurtling down the highway. Ask for a room towards the rear of the hotel. I could also hear my neighbors, but I've never been in hotel in the Bay area where that wasn't the case.

It's perfectly placed for Google Mountain View or Sunnyvale. Even 20min walking distance from Google's new Bay View campus. Also walking distance to NASA Moffet airfield. Also walkable (half an hour?) to Castro St and downtown MTV. But it feels a bit middle of nowhere. There's one mexican supermarket and fast food place around the corner, but not much else going on.

Parking felt nice and safe underground. Staff were pleasant and efficient.

Bring some light blocking masking tape for all the flashing LED lights on the roof and sink area that you can't turn off (again, another US hotel constant annoyance)! But love the quite effective light...

HORRIBLE STAY!!! ||My friend booked a room. We put her card on file... but we decided to pay with mine. So they charged her card anyways... then charged me $245.32 ($50)over than the price. ||Eileen, the manager, overcharged, and double charged. Let me just put this out there… After we told Eileen that we were going to use my card she then charged my friends card. They then charged ariel’s card as well— AFTER we left. Wow. ||||We called afterwards, Eileen was unhelpful. Defensive. Prim, her boss, was rude too. He hung up on us. He told one of my friends that the extra charges on the original price, was to see if I had money on the card. So you’re telling me you have to charge me $50 to see if I have $190 in my bank? Also they did not tell me this either. |||| Oh yeah did I mention that they charge my friend as well? The hotel was under her name. So she had to give them a credit card with her name on it but we paid with mine. Make sense? So they then charged her after we walked out. When we spoke with him he said that they will reverse her charges completely… But they didn’t tell her. So because of that she overdrafted her account and has to pay out-of-pocket The overdraft fees. We will both be Reporting to our banks about this Friday so they can get investigated. They told me they have no intention of refunding me the 50+ dollars...
