This isn't the place you want to stay. We were told that there was no smoking in the rooms, which was fine for us because we don't smoke. However, when we opened the door, the smell of smoke hit you like a ton of bricks. So, we go & have someone to come in the room. He said that he didn't smell anything. We then told him to make a note that we smelled it so we wouldn't be charged. Then I go into the bathroom & find 2 dirty washcloths hanging on the shower. I go back to the office a 2nd time. The man at the desk said, "I just work the desk." I said find someone who does the cleaning. He then proceeded to go in the back room & called his mom. She came out & said there couldn't be any dirty washcloths. I then said, "Follow me." I took her to the room & showed her where they were. This is strike 2. Strike 3 was the handicapped parking which I have a placard to park in. There is only 1 place & you can see it's in the front. I parked and got out to head to my room. They came out and said that I couldn't park there. I tried to explain to them that legally I could because I had a placard. Their reason was that it was where people came into the office. There was no parking close to my room. In fact there's more rooms than the parking period. The rooms weren't very clean & thankfully, I brought my own pillow because I'm not sure how old the ones there were. I did test the smoke detector & it worked. The sliding glass window not only was it unlocked it was open, too. Thankfully, the city and the event center were absolutely beautiful. This was my firat and my last time I ever stay there. If I could have left and found another place,...
Read moreClean, Safe, and Friendly Stay at the Murray Inn & Art Gallery If you're looking for clean, this is definitely a place you can trust for an overnight stay. The front desk staff is super friendly, and my room came equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, and a heating/air unit (which thankfully works—haha!). There’s also a small table with two chairs if you want to bring dinner back to the room, plus a coffee maker, plenty of drawer and closet space, and even a luggage holder. Just note: there aren’t any hangers provided, so if you like to hang up clothes, you’ll want to bring your own. Now, this next part isn’t a complaint—just a tip for travelers with different sleep preferences. If you’re like me and love to sleep in complete darkness, this might not be your best fit. The entire complex is brightly lit for safety, which is great (A+ for security!), but it does mean light shines through the door even with the shades pulled. The window blackout curtains work pretty well, but the door could use an extra blackout panel for those of us who like total darkness. If you’re someone who enjoys a little light at night, though, this will be perfect for you. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, and if they add blackout curtains over the doors, I’d happily stay again. Otherwise, I’d still recommend it to travelers who don’t mind a bit of light...
Read moreIn town while having my motorcycle modified with a sidecar, I had the absolute pleasure of staying with the owners, Helian and Paul, at the Murray Inn and Art Gallery. Very helpful and accomodating, they made me feel more a guest in their home, rather than simply a customer at the Inn. Very reasonably priced, the Inn has a charm that is lacking in the glitz, glass & chrome of the 'modern' hotel chain franchises.
The facility is an older motor lodge style, that is looks nice from the start. After a warm welcome, I was assigned a very pleasant, large room with TV, small fridge, & microwave. The room was spotless, with a comfortably firm bed & multiple pillows, desk & chairs, and a small but adequate bathroom. Every morning, a nice selection of breakfast options was provided, including fresh fruit, cereals, breads, cream cheeses, & more. The house wifi is good & local 5G effective. Paul and Helian have made and continue to make improvements & updates to keep this attractive motel a great place to spend a while.
Oh, and before I forget, Helian (as well as being a charming & friendly hostess) is quite an accomplished artist whose works are displayed...
