We've stayed at this Best Western several times now. It's a great location, near shopping, near restaurants, nice neighborhood, less than two miles to Lowdermilk Park - my favorite area beach. There are two primary buildings, each two stories tall, with outside entrance to the rooms. Plenty of free parking. There is also another building on the property that has larger units (apartment-like). The staff is friendly, and the property is well cared for. ||There are pros and cons which I will share. ||The rooms have been remodeled since my last visit a couple years ago. Each second floor room has a balcony with two chairs and small table, overlooking the tropical courtyard/pool area. Wonderful feature. The first floor rooms also have an outdoor lanai sitting area. It is ground level, so not as private. ||Our room was nice but was sparsely furnished. There are small side tables on each side of the bed, a small "dresser" that holds the flat screen TV, and the small refrigerator. No microwave but one is available where breakfast is prepared. There is one chair and one luggage rack. A small cubby to hang clothes. No desk, no table to put one's "stuff". It would be fine for an overnight, but for us, this was our week long vacation. The only chair was used as a luggage rack. I almost set up the ironing board to use as a surface to put things on. ||There is a coffee maker in the room, which we never used, as well as an ironing board and iron, and blow drying. There were not enough outlets either. With the need for charging devices, and no desk or table, I was setting my phone on the floor near the accessible outlet. ||The bathroom was updated, but I found the layout quirky. When you walk into your hotel room, you walk directly into the sink/vanity area of the bathroom. The sink/vanity are in the open. The toilet and shower area does have a door for privacy. ||The bed was firm and comfortable. We had to ask for more towels almost daily. Soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided. Our room was cleaned daily. ||Breakfast is al fresco, near the pool (pool nearest the office). It was nice sitting near the koi ponds and enjoying the sounds of the garden waterfalls. I'm not sure where one would eat if it were raining. The food offered is pretty typical: scrambled eggs daily, hard boiled eggs, sausage patties, links or bacon, 2 waffle makers, yogurt, mini muffins, regular bread, either bagels or English muffins, package instant oatmeal, 2 or 3 cereal choices, apples, oranges, bananas, variety of juices, tea, coffee, milk. The staff did a great job keeping things supplied and the area clean. The food was fine. Considering the cost of eating breakfast in a restaurant, this was a great amenity to have. ||There are two pools on the premises and two hot tubs. Unfortunately, the pools are not heated. This will likely impact our future decision in coming here again. The water was too cold to go in. We didn't see anyone using the pools. We would have enjoyed being in them every day of our vacation if they were heated. The heat in one of the hot tubs was not working. We did enjoy the other hot tub. Towels are available poolside. As well as lounge chairs, and tables with umbrellas. ||It's a beautiful setting among the palm trees. ||There are bikes to rent on the premises. They are locked up, and by downloading the app, it is easy to rent them. If I recall correctly, it is $10 an hour. The neighborhood behind the hotel is residential (beautiful, expensive homes) and quiet. It is a nice area to ride around. ||The hotel offers a free shuttle service to Lowdermilk Park beach as well as beach chairs to borrow. They make the short round trip at 9am, noon, and 3pm. The times didn't work out for us, so we drove to the beach. The parking there is $5 per hour. During the time we were there, we had no problem parking. I know it can get quite busy at certain times. The hotel shuttle is a nice offering. ||The plusses for us are the beautiful grounds, the location, the price, breakfast, bikes, beach chairs, hot tub (if it works), room balcony, clean, updated rooms. The cons are unheated pool, minimal room furniture, quirky bathroom layout, not enough outlets. I wanted to give it a higher rating, but the unheated pool is a big disappointment for my...

Our experience…
My wife and I decided to stay at this hotel based on TripAdvisor and family recommendations, so we were anticipating a good experience from the start. After checking into our ground floor, pool front suite, I went outside to relax on the patio. To my chagrin, I found that next to our two lounge chairs and table was a very large and loud air conditioning unit which was constantly cycling on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. Additionally, there was a constant stream of children and adults who were walking back and forth in front of our room going to and from the pool area. I knew my anticipated restful and tranquil vacation was in jeopardy when one of the other guests (who was walking to his room from the pool, and seeing me in my repose on the patio) said to me, “You’ll never get any peace and quiet here !”
At that point, I knew that I needed to address the issue with the staff, or find a different hotel. I went to the Front Office, and advised them of my issues with the room, specifically the loud and noisy air conditioner, the ongoing foot traffic in front of our patio and the lack of privacy. I asked first for the same room type on a different floor, but none were available. I was then offered the option to move to the apartment accommodations, initially for an additional cost of $ 20 per night (which is very reasonable for this upgrade) but after I indicated my strong displeasure about my current room and my adamant desire for a quieter and more private room (and if unavailable that we would be checking out the following day), the manager on duty advised me that we could stay in the upgraded room for the duration of our stay (8 nights) at no additional charge.
I was slightly shocked by this, thinking that possibly the upgrade still may not provide the peace, quiet and amenities my wife and I were looking for, but I was wrong. The apartment room was GREAT. It was overlooking the back pool and gardens and was far enough away that the noise level was quite tolerable (we have kids ourselves, so I totally understand the joy, excitement and laughter that comes when they’re at a pool, so that noise was not an issue for us). The unit had a full kitchen (with newer appliances), living room area (with a 4 seat elevated “pub” table and leather sofas) and a separate bedroom that had a very comfortable king-size bed (so comfortable, in fact, both my wife and I woke up a few mornings thinking that we were in our own bed at home!). Both the living room and bedroom had large flat screen TV’s. There was also a screened in lanai/patio accessible through sliding glass doors from both the bedroom and living room. And since we were on the 4th floor, along with the quiet, there was complete privacy.
What started out somewhat nightmarish, quickly turned into the peaceful and relaxing vacation we were looking for. Long we will remember our morning coffee and evening spirits as we sat out on the lanai, feeling the warmth of the Gulf breezes, surround and relax us throughout our stay.
In light of the courteous and accommodating treatment we received from the Management, along with the quality of the rooms and grounds as well as the pleasant, hardworking and helpful staff, I would highly recommend...
