I’ll start with the good. We rented the Dogwood suite for three nights and the bathroom and room itself was beautiful and spacious. The clawfoot tub was incredible, clean and functioned amazing. Really the bathroom was my favorite place in the entire house. The room also had a couple of fans for thermal comfort and a fridge/freezer. Breakfast was also very good and she was very kind.||Now to the not-so-good. Communication was very poor from the start. We emailed them a few times with questions and nobody ever got back to us. First I was told that I could pick up my keys on Friday before 9 PM at the adventure store. At 7:45 pm I got a text saying that I needed to pick up the keys because the store was closing at 8 PM. The keys would be available in their public mailbox just outside the building— that was odd. ||Next, we arrived and made our way up to the room. Everything seemed very clean and tidy, but that evening about midnight, we kept hearing a scratching sound by our belongings. When I turned the light on, I found that a mouse had started to eat through our small bag of chocolates (the only food we had) so I put it in the refrigerator and heard no more sounds that evening. ||The following morning I went to open the curtains, and there was no possible way to do this as ALL the curtains were broken. This was very disheartening because I love natural light and there was a lovely tree outside that we couldn’t even enjoy. You also can’t open the windows for a natural breeze as they are sealed shut. ||At breakfast, I went outside to see the sitting porch as the weather was nice but all the cushions were removed from the furniture and some of it was torn apart or in very poor condition. ||That morning, we went to grab coffee at a café downtown Nelsonville and most of the downtown shops are shuttered and closed. The fountain wasn’t working despite it being August. We did manage to find a café and it was reasonably priced, but it was only one of five stores that existed and were open downtown. So not a very nice downtown vibe.||We later went to the adventure store to inform them that there were mice in the room and they mentioned they would set some traps. Later that evening, we noticed 4 to 5 mice running around the room around 9 PM… we freaked a bit. We put all our belongings in the bathtub. That night, the mice began to eat our shoes… I wish I could tell you we were joking. Even though we were staying three nights, we decided to leave the next morning because we didn’t want our items eaten by mice. ||When we were looking at calling the B&B to get a refund we noticed that they had a pest policy that said they don’t issue refunds due to pests. So overall we are very disappointed. We thought it was going to be a romantic weekend getaway, but ultimately with all the rodents, it turned out to be quite the horror story. We would not recommend this location unless you were totally OK with rodents and potentially some of your belongings getting chewed up.||The only reason we didn’t give it a one star is because of how beautiful that bathroom was and the breakfast was very good. Definitely a highlight in the mess of...

Read moreThe home was lovely and so was the Lilac Room. But I made the mistake of leaving my pillow in the room of the B&B we were staying at. We didn’t realize it until we had driven far enough home that it didn’t make sense to turn back. I called the company and I told him I left it and they said it was no problem to mail it back and that another girl would call me and get my mailing information and so that I could pay for shipping. No problem! She said they ship things back all the time. Around five hours goes by and nobody has called me back so very politely I called again. . At this rate, she said the girl who cleans couldnt find my pillow, but that doesn’t make any sense because it was literally on the bed where I left it. They said they would look again. I called the next morning and they had found it. I waited over a week thinking that maybe they just shipped it as a courtesy to me and they have not shipped it yet. I asked the girl on the phone, again very politely why it had been over a week and nobody had called me back for my information so that they could ship it to me. Her very rude response was,” respectfully ma’am we are not a shipping company.” I explained to her that I understood that and again told her I know it was my fault that I left it and she goes on to say that it was my responsibility to check the room before I left. I GET THAT and I accepted responsibility for that many times but YOUR company said they would ship it. I finally told her that I knew she was getting aggravated and she said she was getting aggravated because I was getting aggravated. I explained to her I was getting aggravated because she was talking over me and wouldn’t let me speak. She kept repeating herself that they are not a shipping company. I told her all I ever needed was for them to call to get my information and that’s why I was calling back again because of their lack of communication. She explained that they had not yet received my pillow back at the office and that it took several people to make that happen, which makes no sense seeing that the rental was literally a half mile from the office. Anyhow, she got my information and said they would ship it. After I hung up, I decided whatever the cost for shipping would be was probably not worth it so I called back and let them know to not even worry about shipping it because at this point I was done with dealing with them and I had no idea if they would actually ship it once they had my card information. All I wanted was...
