I have absolutely no idea how this hotel has such a good rating. We haven't even checked out yet but things have become so frustrating that I'm writing a review now before we check out early in the morning... When we first arrived, things were fine and the front desk clerk was nice. We got into our room and saw that the couch had been pulled out into the middle of the room and behind it, the phone jack had been ripped out of the wall. Not a huge deal... We moved the couch back ourselves and notified the front desk so that they knew of the issue and that it was like that previous to our stay. We thought little of it. Then, our AC unit stopped working, told them and they did nothing about it. Still haven't and we cannot sleep because it is so hot in the room. The elevators have been mostly out of use our entire visit. Yesterday, a young woman got stuck in one of the elevators and was yelling for help. We heard her and immediately notified the front desk where there was about four employees standing. Not a single one seemed to care! They casually said, "okay, thank you" and continued chatting and typing on the computer. Things continued to get worse... Last night, my fiance went downstairs to purchase us some sodas. When he got down there, no one was at the front desk. He waited for someone to come and while waiting, a group of kids came into the hotel and stole all they could from the little snack store the hotel has! They shouldn't have even been able to come in since the hotel has an automated lock system and you "must" scan your key to get in any of the doors. Apparently it was disarmed or not working... After all of that was settled, my fiance finally went to head back upstairs and got stuck in the elevator himself! The help button in the elevator didn't even work and he sat there for quite some time until he got lucky and the doors finally opened on their own. I wish I was done writing but sadly, I'm not... Early this evening when we came back from downtown, both of our room keys stopped working. Again, not a big deal, a little annoying but happens in hotels quite frequently. When we went down to get the issue resolved, a few other people were there with the same issue. The front desk clerk was very rude about the whole thing! He told the couple in front of us that he couldn't help them because they didn't have an ID (it was locked in their room) he told them he would lose his job and then finally decided he could help them by confirming their reservation info. This was after he snapped at all of us! After that, I decided it was time to call the customer care line for the hotel chain. No help at all! She offered me no solution to any of our problems and simply "documented" my complaints and said they would be contacting the hotel manager. That's it. I guess their customer care line is more for venting than any sort of resolution. I am in utter disbelief of how this hotel and comany as a...
Read moreLady that checked us in tried to tell me there was no card on file when there was. She also had a poor attitude. She did it to the people in front of me as well, and they had card on file too. This rises suspicion as far as her intentions because she had no trouble pulling the card up on file. You can't book a room online without a credit card so it was suspicious.
The halls were doused with so much perfume it mixed in with the weed smell horribly coming from several rooms. We called two days ahead before booking to make sure the pool was available, and we were told yes. We get there and the general manager had decided to close the pool. From the looks of it, it was not properly being chemically treated as it was merky green. Part of a vacation is being able to enjoy the hotel amenities you are PAYING for.
The fridge in our room did not work properly so we had to throw away our food, wasting more money! The tub in the room is chipping and has been repaired before but needs to be replaced. It was unsanitary because the exposed places are porous which harbors bacteria and it was overall dingy.
The towels in the room were dingy, old and covered in someone else's body hair which is disgusting. When I used the text service to request for more, they never came. We had to buy some.
The beds had no support and was like sleeping on the floor.
I witnessed an employee ignoring a guest twice and then not responding to her when she asked for hot sauce at breakfast. She looked at the table where condiments were and walked away. I'm not sure if the lady every got her request, but it was a poor sight to see.
The overall attitude of the employees was horrible. Only the young gentleman at the front desk in the afternoon was kind and had a sweet disposition.
We will not return to this location to say the least. It was utterly disappointing after spending hours searching for a hotel to take our parents on a short get away. Parents with health conditions I might add. We don't have a lot of money and this place did not provide it's money's worth. We were screwed out of a relaxing stay. Nothing here was relaxing...
Read more1.(Location) the hotel was one of the cheapest in the surrounding area of the french quarters. The hotel is near public transportation and major roadways that take you to anywhere in New Orleans. It is plenty of food options close by as well as Walmart and a couple of shopping centers. 2.( Hotel)The hotel decor is beautiful and down to earth. Its a big hotel with a homely feel to it.I love the different seating areas that you can relax with friends and family or watch tv in. The common areas are spacious and private so you do not feel exposed to everyone. The room was a good size and I love the fact that the sink was outside of the bathroom. It was helpful to me because I was traveling with 2 other women and it helped us get ready quicker that everyone didn't have to occupy the bathroom at one time. The room had a fridge and microwave which was a plus so we could heat up left overs.I LOVE the fact that the lobby had fresh coffee, cookies, and lemon water 24 hours a day. Also they had a little convenience store for other items. 3.(Service)the service was wonderful. Check in and out was very easy. All the front desk staff was very helpful and down to earth. They were very professional and friendly at the same time. They were very informative on recommendations and answering any questions that I had. Talking to them was more like talking to family members. I enjoyed our conversations. Housekeeping was available everyday and supplied us with everything we needed. The hotel felt like you were staying at a relatives house compared to a hotel. The atmosphere was wonderful and pleasant and even the other guests were friendly as well. I usually go for the big hotel chains when I come to New Orleans but this hotel is my favorite by far. I appreciate the welcoming service and will definitely recommend it to anyone going to New Orleans. Cant wait to...
