Unfortunately was so loud, and we had a neighboring guest that ended up talking to us about our service pup... that I forgot to take pics of our food. Let me start by saying that we were here before many years back. At the time I was just vegetarian. I remember it being ok, and my fiancé remembered the burgers being good... so thus why, when we decided to take a ride to NSB today, we went there for a later lunch (2-2:30ish). The "restaurant" is a beach type "shack" that is not the cleanest, needs a great deal of updating and noisy. You walk in and seat yourself, and you'll find menus waiting when you sit. The menu isn't really that extensive, but has a variety of items at least. The waitress came to the table (she was pleasant) pretty quickly and then brought waters with lemon wedges. We then ordered our meals. My fiancé got a bacon cheeseburger, and I got the NSB burger BUT replaced the regular burger patty with their veggie burger patty. The reason I ordered that vs the "veggie burger" choice on the menu, is because being vegan, there was basically nothing I could add to my veggie burger, besides the usual lettuce, tomato and onion. I thought by ordering their NSB burger, which has sautéed mushrooms, green peppers and onions on it, it would give my burger at least more "moisture". My fiancé enjoyed his burger and said it was one of the better he's had, flavor wise. As for mine, their veggie burger wasn't bad...I'd say just, ok. Despite having the sautéed veggies (thank goodness), it was on the dry/plain side. Had there been additional choices to go with the veggie burger (vegan cheese, vegan mayo or alternative vegan sauce choice or even avocado...none of which they have), like most other restaurants offer when they offer a veggie burger, then I'd probably have given 4 stars and a "good" description. The thing is that this place has been there for MANY years. They have a following, thus the 4.6 stars and popularity. I'd definitely call this a beachside eatery, much more than the stretch of calling it a restaurant. The owners never reply, so clearly reviews have no relevance to them at all. I've been to similar type places, and they could care less what you think, and they're stuck in the past, for the most part. The fact they even offer a veggie patty is surprising, to be honest. Their prices are not that low either....yes, I realize prices are high everywhere right now...but $35 for two people (and we got nothing but water with lemons, and the two meals) to me, is a bit high for burgers and fries. Ohhh... their fries.... they were ok, but to me too crispy/overfried, so I ate very few. I write this review mostly for those vegans that may be in that area and end up at this eatery....or may read this and avoid going. If you do have to go, my recommendation, bring some vegan sauce, avocado/guacamole and maybe even some vegan cheese with you (I have done just that before at other similar establishments lol.. hey, you gotta do what you gotta do!) We also parked down the street in public parking, so we didn't have to worry about parking in the VERY small and tight parking lot. Highly recommend you park...
Read moreHow much do you have to drink to think this is a good burger, I think the QP with cheese at Mac Donald’s is better, and I can’t stand MacDonald’s, lol, the view is great, but the cheese burger is subpar, it’s a thick patty with a thin slice of cheese, and we're not talking about quality grass fed beef here, the grilled onions were barley cooked on the grill and were very wet for some reason, the bun tasted like expired Winn-Dixie dumpster hamburger buns, this place is the epitome of location, location, location, if it wasn’t right on the beach, and didn’t serve booze, they’d be out of business in 3 days, obviously I’m not going to sway any of the locals, I think they’ve given up, and just settled for the place they live or moved to, and that’s ok, this is for anyone who’s ok with waiting to go back home for real food or even try that spot Big Mike’s burgers if you’re craving a cheese burger, I haven’t had a burgers in weeks, I took a few bites, ate all the cheese and left the rest, and I was so looking forward to a burger, their fries are mid as well, those are the only things I’ve tried, so I can’t comment on anything else.
Now to be fair I went to read some of the positive reviews, and wouldn’t you know it, for some reason they all mention the view, lol, so if you want to eat on the beach with only ingesting a minimal amount of sand, this is the place, if you don’t believe me, read the reviews yourself, and note each one that mentions the wonderful view, which I have to say is great, but you can just sit on the bench there and not spend around $20 for a below...
Read moreMe and my four friends came across this lovely establishment yesterday evening upon the self seating we mistakenly sat next to a drunken woman who was being kicked out by multiple staff members. As she was being escorted out she mooned our table.Due to an allergy within our party we tried to communicate a severe deathly nut allergy and the waiters response was “what am I supposed to tell the kitchen we have no nuts here” but then proceed to ask us if certain foods had nuts in it #couldvedied. Service was great because she clarified “she was not trying to be bitchy” and brought our drink refills without even having to be asked! Later our food came out and it was quite a surprise that the chicken was raw! She brought out new food but anabelle still had to pay for it! Me and my dear allergic friend attempted to use the restroom and the sinks and toilets were filled with paper and overflowing across the bathroom. We had to walk to a nearby hotel bathroom to relieve ourselves. Overall I would say this was quite entertaining and a great story to carry with us the remainder of our lives!...
