I needed a quick place to crash for my layover.. I called around and Fairfield had availability and a shuttle from JFK. So I hopped in the van (no candy was needed to entice me) and off I went There check in process was quick and easy, I didn't care for the security deposit.... Whatever I guess?? The lobby is confusing, you have to go down 6-7 stairs or take an elevator down 6-8 feet to just get to a landing, then a 20' walk to the elevators again to go to your room.. odd design, but it's fine. The room I was assigned was a king room right across from the elevator and the ice machine (lucky me) I honestly didn't care, I was dead tired and just wanted to eat something and sleep. I liked the walk in shower (I wish more hotels did this) the bed was a little too hard for me. And like all hotel rooms... You have that cuck chair in the corner. You know the one! Just off the side, it's never comfortable I mean... Who sits there other than to 'watch' My view was a ladder, a dumpster and a gas station. The sounds of sirens from emergency vehicles and police were my bedtime serenade...aaahhhh the sound of sirens all night *chef's kiss* The HVAC unit in the room had me so confused. I got in and the heat was on and set to 71 degrees. I put it to 69 and cool, it went to 58 degrees and just... Stayed there! The room never got cold, and it never got warm. Just stayed at 58 all night until I woke up to find my room at 65. So I guess I slept in the fridge all night and never knew it?? That's cool *Sidenote* there is nothing really to eat nearby, the lobby has snacks and the toiletries they sell. And they only had magnum condoms... Which cracked me up. I checked out the fitness room on the first floor, it was pretty legit. There was an elliptical, treadmill, rollers, and dumbbells up to 50#. It was clean and you can tell that not many people use it. I didn't have my phone to take any pictures. This was an ok stay, would I stay again? Sure if I'm ever passing through JFK.

So I stayed at the Fairfield near JFK. Location? Pretty good, you can practically smell the jet fuel from your window, which I guess is a selling point if you’re into that whole “planes, trains and automobiles” vibe. The rooms? Clean. Of course they’re clean. It’s a hotel. That’s the bare minimum baseline, folks. It’s like bragging your restaurant serves food that’s not moldy. Here’s the rub: the staff are sweet but when you ask them anything about the surrounding area you get the blank look of a cat watching a magic trick. “Where’s the nearest decent bar?” Crickets. “Any good pizza?” More crickets. I’ve had better local intel from the back of an Uber. The hotel shop? Snacks, water, toothpaste. No wine, no beer. This is JFK for crying out loud — people are flying in from everywhere stressed out of their minds. A bottle of cabernet wouldn’t kill anybody. And the breakfast buffet, let’s just say calling it “buffet” is like calling a hot dog a “five-course meal.” Upgrade it, throw in some actual flavor, maybe a waffle station with a little razzmatazz. You’re competing with airline food, guys that’s not a high bar. So yeah, location good, rooms clean, but a hotel’s gotta go beyond the “we vacuumed” standard. Get the staff some neighborhood flashcards, stock the shop with adult beverages, and pump some life into breakfast. Until then? Solid three stars.

My Go-To hotel when in New York. This is a comfortable Smoke- Free hotel that is newly renovated and ideal for a short overnight or 2 day stay near the airport. The staff is phenomenal and the rooms are very clean, modern, simple and comfy. They offer a small continental breakfast buffet that starts at 6:00 a.m, they have a bar, gym and computer/ printer station.

The poor reviews and the neighborhood really had me on the fence about my stay here. I decided to trust the majority of the positive recent reviews. I am a Mariott Bonvoy member so I have had my share of stays at the cousin properties of Fairfield. This stay matched my positive experience. I was able to check in 2 hours ahead of the 3:00 pm check in time which was wonderful after an exhausting commute in New York City. I was able to rest comfortably on the 4th floor. 417 was a very nice room. This hotel property measured up to the Smoke Free standard. I did not ever smell 1 cigarette or any substance. My room was well ventilated, they use a nice fresh air freshener throughout the halls and the air conditioner unit was adequate. The new blue carpets are gorgeous, the bathrooms are stunning with the glass walk in showers. The bed was comfortable and foam pillows were o.k. The smart television allowed for person streaming from my private accounts which I love. Mini Fridge, safe and ironing board came in handy. My favorite part of the room is the wooden cubicle space to organize my personal items. Perfect upgrades to this property. The hospitality staff were all professional and helpful. Whatever I needed they delivered. Blanket, new iron. The male housekeeping staff was a nice gentleman and the woman working the continental breakfast as well. Jasmine at the front desk is exceptional and a professional !

I will admit the noise from the Conduit and Rockaway Blvd is aggravating however it was not that bad. They need to purchase new pillows. How is it that they’re always flat ? The heating and A/C units should have been upgraded along with the aesthetics of the rooms. The units are outdated and loud. Making the temperature difficult to sustain and hard to rest with all of the background noise and malfunctioning.

The continental breakfast bar really needs work. I didn’t enjoy any of the items. Cold cereal, hot Oatmeal, apples, oranges, yogurt, microwave Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. I didn’t enjoy the coffee. If they can fix the options they will gain more...

After a very long flight from the UK my son and I were checked in at the desk at around 8:30pm by two young gentlemen. They were very professional and welcoming. They informed me of the restaurant opening hours, the check out time, the breakfast time, and were overall fun and friendly towards me and my son. The bell boy was very gracious and helped me with my bags, also offered my son some coloring crayons and books. This young man is a great asset to the Fairfield Inn JFK, he was very helpful, friendly, and cheered my son up after a long day of travel. I wish I got his name, he had glasses and was working the night of Monday 23rd. When I arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 we were welcomed by a friendly young lady with blondish hair, we ordered and she advised us to collect the food in around 15 mins, and that she would phone the room. She was also very helpful and welcoming towards us. When we collected the food I was quite happy with the portion sizes and the quality of the food it was tasty and served piping hot. In the morning we had breakfast at 7:30 and had a great experience with these ladies as they helped us make waffles and were fun and playful towards my son. The breakfast was quite plentiful, they had everything anyone might want in the morning. All served fresh. Over all we had a great experience at this hotel. Although the hotel itself is quite standard, the young staff running this place were fantastic. So warm and friendly which is exactly what jet lagged, over exhausted guests are seeking. I didn't see any management, I guess these young people are professional and reliable. They made our stay as great one and we'll certainly be back. I might also add that the cleaner the following morning, a nice tall gentleman, helped me with my suitcase to the lobby. Which I was very grateful for. I will certainly be back, the next time we're in town....
