I highly recommend this hotel for those wanting clean, safe accommodation near north Manhattan and the Botanical Garden. The staff are courteous and friendly. The hotel is nicely located if you want to walk to the Botanical Garden and Zoo (30 minutes or so). The free breakfast is good, and they have a small gym and a computer you can use, plus Internet is free for the rooms (no extra charge). The rooms are clean and modern. There is a taxi dispatch headquarters just a block from the hotel, so it is easy to get a taxi. Plus, they are within walking distance of the subway to Manhattan. The price is also reasonable for the close proximity to Manhattan. There are some restaurants nearby. The neighborhood is not fancy but I think it's fine for walking around and exploring the interesting ethnic stores and cafes. There is actually a nice view from the rear of the hotel, which I believe overlooks the Botanical Garden treeline. All in all, this is a better value than you get with the hotels in Manhattan. If you like to hike, and want to visit the Botanical Gardens, this is an excellent spot.
The bathrooms are clean and fine, though not much shelf space to put your toiletries. The beddings are fine, though you might want some thicker sheets or a comforter if you feel cold. Getting to Manhattan will take some hiking to the subway a few blocks away, or a $15 taxi ride. That aside, I recommend this hotel, and will look forward to an opportunity to stay there again if I need accommodation in the Bronx. Thanks to the kind staff for hosting us on...
Read moreWe stayed three nights at the Rodeway Inn visiting our son at the Rosehill Campus. Room was small, bathroom small too. Not much counter area. We had two full size beds, blow dryer, safe, and refrigerator. WIFI worked well. Computer downstairs in breakfast area. Room and bedding were clean, however bathroom did have light black mold spots on the shower walls that looked to be easily cleaned. Beds were hard. Both my DH and I prefer softer matresses, and we both woke to sore bodies in the morning. Location is a couple blocks from the Metro North Train Station, which was convenient for our travels. Subway not so close, about 3/4 mile from hotel. We caught a cab to go over to Little Italy, Arthur Avenue area for dinner. Walls were thin, as I could hear doors slamming throughout the night. University and Gardens were walkable from the hotel, 10 minutes away. There is a Duncan Donuts and Shell Gas station directly across the street from hotel. I didn't eat breakfast. My DH ate breakfast one morning and said it wasn't anything to brag about. He chose to skip breakfast the last day. The neighborhood seemed very safe. Police station about 2 blocks down from the hotel. We were comfortable walking in the evening and didn't feel unsafe. My biggest complaint was the doors slamming. I didn't hear alot of people in the hall, but when they were out there, we did hear a muffle of their talking. I would stay here again as it was quite a convenient location for us, but I would...
Read moreAll of the online descriptions were completely modeled on a “pre-covid” setting. Parking was limited 7 cars first come first serve…(not described on line or phone) I was sent to a third party company 200ft away and pay for overnight parking. They stated Breakfast was served between 7am-10am… we found out the next morning that breakfast was in a bag (1 fruit, 1 granola bar, 1 bad of little bite muffins, 1 juice 1 water bottle (I was never told over the phone) so I had to find a place for my family to go eat breakfast. Security of doors ware by far the worst I’ve experienced, cards worked when they wanted and doors were unaligned and hard to close or open. Bathroom was never cleaned or damaged things replaced bathroom curtain had cigarette burns, hairs (stuck to the wall and curtain) inside the bathroom (never cleaned) also the sink did not drain water (in both rooms), room smelled like someone had just finished smoking right before we go there. I brought all these concerns up to the front desk staff (who were very polite) who were unclear on all of their answers and anything I asked they just kept referring me to the manager (Andy Ghandi) who would be back Monday/ Tuesday after a long weekend. Not worth the...
