Location: If you work at NYC, then don’t rent Vermella West. Because it has Shuttle to Harrison Path Station for only 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours evening which this shuttle is not on time. Also because of narrow streets and a lot of new Luxury apartments that are built around, always there is heavy traffic. Instead of the Vermella West, lease the Vermella Harrison, Harrison 300, Urby and Harrison Yards which are good candidates in this matter as they are next to the Path station.
Amenities: Comparing to the other luxury apartments, Vermella West has the smallest one. Also, In V.West's clubhouse, there is a small Party room that you can use it for only 3 hours and 20 guests by paying $300 which is expensive, which I know in other building it is cheaper or larger.
Events: Comparing to other building which they have a lot of events such as wine tasting, music, parties,... V. West has few events.
Parking: recently most of the visitor parking is rented to people by the manager property and there are only 10 visitor parking slots for guests of all residents which are not enough and your guests always have a problem. If your guest parks overnight then it will be towed $500.
Elevators: In other Luxury apartments such as V.Harrison or Harrison 300 there are many powerful elevators. At least 6 elevators I saw there. That there are separate elevators for moving and for the recycling room. If an elevator is down then you can use the other one. But in V.west which consists of four big 4 floors buildings, for each big building, there is only one elevator which if that one is down then you need to use stairs. I remember for 3 weeks in a month, the elevator was down and people were needed to use stairs. Also, manager property doesn't care about residents which by sending emails to all residents on Thursday afternoon, informs residents that we know the elevator is down and workers will come next Monday. (it happened a lot of time). So if you have shopping, at the weekend, if you are pregnant, if you are old, if you have a disability, I highly recommend you do not consider the Vermella West because this situation definitely happens at least once a month.
Convenient: Nobody cares about your convenience. Today morning at 9:31 AM we got an email that the water will be shut off between the hours of 9 am- 2 pm. Also, complaining doesn't change anything, they will answer it is what it is.
Apartments' material: although buildings are new, they built in very weak and cheap materials and it seems they just wanted to make something to rent it as soon as possible. Following are some problems that happened in my apartment: 1- the parquet floor became noisy after 3 months. 2- the slope of the kitchen's countertop is toward the living room, mean a drop of water on that will flew on my rug. 3- if you care about noise, do not consider here, because of the air conditioners have a noise like a jet engine. 4- As you walk your apartment shakes. So if you don't rent the fourth floor then you always hear the sound of a neighbor walking upstairs.
Neighbors: After we moved, the leasing office asked us a copy of our Social Security to put it in our document as a background check, which they should had done the backgroud check before you move. So, you should expect that your neighbor is anybody that can pay rent. Last month around 20 cops rushed to our building to arrest one of our gang neighbors. imagine how it could be dangerous for your family if gunfire happens in your building.
Price: for all these drawbacks, Vermella West really doesn't worth its price, which every year they increase the amount of the rent for current residences. it is ridiculous that they give new residences some offers to come in (such as 1-month free lease, waiving amenities fees, $1000 for referring new resident to both parties) but they don't care about the current residence because they know it is inconvenient for a current residence to move.
So, I do NOT...
Read moreI lived here from July 2019 to July 2021. These apartments are expensive for what you get. They're called "luxury," but the materials used are not luxury at all. The paint is cheap and rubbed off/stained very easily. Floors are thin - I always heard my upstairs neighbors walking around, and I could hear them shutting doors or cabinets. Elevator is extremely small and almost always had something wrong with it - not working, broken ceiling, broken lights. What's the point of reserving elevator space for move in/move out if other people can still use it? It was so hard to bring furniture in and out because of the elevator's size, and there is only one elevator per building. The water here was not the cleanest. Faucets, shower, toilet grew mold very easily and fast. The hot water would run out while showering in less than 10 minutes. There's barely any visitor's parking. The clubhouse amenities were always well kept, and the maintenance staff were friendly and very responsive. When I first moved in, the office staff was extremely nice and personable. They answered and resolved questions quickly. Beginning during the pandemic and especially during move out, the office became unresponsive. There were multiple days that I would call, or I would send an email, and I would get no response. A month before my move out, Verizon contacted me stating that a new tenant was trying to schedule a set up service for July 1st. My last day was July 28th. When I called the office asking why a tenant would try to install a service an entire month before my move out, they never got back to me. I called multiple times and left a voicemail - no response. Toward the end, I had to reschedule my move out inspection, so I tried calling the office. Again, no response. I went into the office and spoke to someone who told me to send me an email stating when I would like to reschedule. I sent the email right after I left the office, and again, no response. I called again on the day the inspection was supposed to happen and the staff member rescheduled my inspection. I didn't find out until a few days later, the day of the new inspection, when maintenance called me that the inspection was already completed a few days prior, before I had called again and set up the new appointment. I wasn't present when the inspection happened. Why would you let me reschedule the inspection if it had already occurred? Why was I not notified about the inspection or the results until days later? Finally, on the last day of my lease, I received a call from the office asking when I would be out of the apartment. I had a few items left I needed to remove, and I was planning to remove them that day. The office staff member told me that they rescheduled painters to come that morning, but they would reschedule until the next day. Why were painters hired to paint my apartment BEFORE the end of my lease? I paid for rent and utilities from July 1st to July 28th, so I expected to have the apartment until the end of the 28th. There were no specifications within my lease stating that I had to be out by a certain time. As my lease came to an end, I felt the office staff cared more about getting me out and the new tenants in, instead of caring about taking care of my needs until the end of the lease. The issues I listed prior to speaking of the office staff were annoying but tolerable. I still liked living at Vermella West - but it was way too expensive for what the...
Read moreMany things have changed for the negative since I moved in. For starters, guest parking. Was available in abundance when I first moved in. Now there are about 10 spots which have to be “registered” with the management office. If the office is closed and you park, you risk getting towed. Two, the shuttle service they offer is a joke. More often than not, it’s late and not consistent to their schedule. They say times may vary per traffic/weather, but when it’s constantly inconsistent, you'd think they’d look into alternates. They claim they will look into it but here I am X months later with no remedy. Prior to signing the lease, they were very attentive. Answered with a smile on their face. Melissa was my agent. The female members at the leasing office, now, often have a demeanor where they can’t be bothered or help much if you have a concern and basically reiterate the “rules” or “disclosures” previously given. Proximity to path was a big deal to me and the shuttle service. I find myself taking an Uber way too frequently to compensate for their irregular service times!
I once lost a package there and their hands were wiped clean. How do I live in a place that has cameras and seemingly high end amenities yet this occurs with no care by the bldg mgmt??
I hoped that living in a community, there would be more “events”, which they claimed to offer. In the last six months, they’ve had a handful or less to offer. Other complexes offer weekly food trucks, wine tastings or diff misc events to get the residents together and able to mingle. Not the case here.
In reading these reviews I noticed that they often apologize and request for you to speak to them in person at the office. But when concerns have previously been expressed, no resolution has come.
The complex is pretty, but I’ve lived in less attracted places with better qualities. That is KEY,...
