Ok, so in being truthful, I know the owner of this place. We were both doing a project to help the homeless. That's how we met. I saw the food she was giving out and asked when she got it from. She told me that she owned an Ecuadorian Restaurant in Newark on New York Ave. I told her then that I would go visit when I could. So, I did. The service was ok. The food was also ok. The steak was a bit tough, and they didn't ask me how I wanted my eggs for the dish, so I got really runny eggs. I had taken two of my Ecuadorian friends with me, and they said it was ok. Apparently, there was way more stuff that they made that was not on the menu. They are supposedly known for their seafood dishes, and the menu we got had no seafood dishes, except soup called encebollada, which had tuna in it. I had asked to speak to the owner from the time I walked in, but no one seemed to want to come talk to me. Finally, as we were finished and were about to pay the bill, the owner came out and greeted us. She was super friendly and made us feel welcomed. Next time, we will be ordering a shrimp dish or something other than what was on the menu. I want to give it another try. If for no other reason, the owner and her family love to help and feed their community, and that in itself is ok in my book, so I will continue...

The waitress with the blonde hair kept rushing me and my boyfriend and was very intense and acting weird toward us. She didn't even serve us after and it felt like tension between us. I stared at her as she rushed for our order and her vibe completely changed. When she saw us get our food, she looked twice at our food? I wasn't sure if she did anything to our food since she kept staring. It was horrible service and she has no waitress etiquette at all. We would never return due to her poor attitude and service. Get a...

I wanted to try something new and came to El Rincon. We shared the encebollada fish soup to start. It was delicious and huge. By the time my main course came I was very full. I ordered some delicious rice with meats and shrimp (chaulafan) and my partner had the badeja (tray) with different meats, rice and beans. The waiter was lovely and taught us about the traditional dishes.

This place was clean, attentive, relaxed vibes, and the food was beyond good. Prices are good too. The amount of food they give per serving outweighs the price. And the food quality is very good. The lomo was tasteful, tender, cleaned well and huge portion. The seafood platter was delicious. They said it was for 2 people but I think it feeds 4. Great experience !
