We stayed in an accessible room as my husband needs a wheelchair, therefore he needs a roll-in shower and plenty of room to manuever around. The bathroom checked all the boxes. It was clean, functioned well and the best part is the water drained and did not flood the bathroom floor as we've had at other sites. The room itself, however, was really tight, especially getting in and out of the bathroom. He really had to get in just the right spot to get around the door and into the bathroom. Also, the bed and furniture were very tight as the room was not large enough to accomodate both the furniture and a wheelchair. That being said, the only other problem was that the room was not ready when we arrived at check-in time and we had to wait an hour to get in. This was not because of routine housekeeping, they were literally replacing wallpaper in the room when we arrived! The staff did accomodate us with snacks and something off our first night. After that, everything went very well. The breakfast was fantastic and the attendants there were very nice and friendly. It was very well stocked, clean and a good variety of items. The pancake maker is fun and the cakes were tasty. The room was toward the middle to back of the hotel which is a bit tough to navigate carpet down a long hallway in a wc but the room itself was quiet as it's away from PCH and the ice machine. The bed and pillows were exceptional and the overall room itself was clean and well maintained. The pool was out of service as was the gym while we were there but we did not use those amenities anyway. I mean the ocean is right there, just a quick 10 minute drive. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and nice and helpful. The housekeeping staff stays very busy and works very hard maintaining the property. Overall, it was a great stay except for the...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Pacific Coast Hiway in Newport Beach, CA. Everyone from the front desk, breakfast area and room maintenance were professional, helpful, friendly and polite while doing their work. My family was in Newport Beach for important family business and pleasure. I originally planned to stay at a hotel closer to the ocean, but the accommodations fell far short of my expectations. Since other distant family had reservations at Holiday Inn I thought there may be an opportunity for my family (needing 3 rooms over a 1 week period) maybe I’d have some luck. The first person to help us was Katie at the front desk. My wife and I needed a room for a 10 day period, but the hotel was booked full the next day, Saturday. However, she had a room available the night we arrived and all of the remaining days of our Newport stay. In addition, she was able to accommodate my other family who would be arriving several days later. The hotel in Newport Beach clearly promotes a NO SMOKING policy. However, it was obvious room 252 had guests that ignored that policy. The room smelled very bad! My grandchildren were staying in that room only one night, but when I mentioned the smell to a front desk person another room was offered which was free of bad smells. Both grandchildren sleeping in room 252 we’re grateful another room was made available for them. I want to make a very positive shout-out to your front desk staff; Katie, DeShawn, Daisy, and Eric. Also, although I can’t name them specifically the room maid staff and those helping in the dining room were...
Read moreI found this location on line and felt it would be perfect for my brothers and I to stay in as we were visiting from out of state for a funeral. I almost went through Travelocity for a room with two beds. But I thought I would call the phone number of the actual Holiday Inn Express. I had questions to ask. It was a gentleman that answered when I clicked on reservations through their own phone number. Apparently I was sent to a different location and I believe this man lied to me and told me that if I booked through Travelocity I wouldn’t get a room with two beds. So he went ahead and made my reservation and did not tell me I was being charged an additional $40 fee. I just received my statement and saw the $40 charge. The other thing that went wrong was when we arrived at the hotel they could not find my reservation. I was exhausted from the long flight and a few other things along the way. But to get to the hotel and find out I had no reservation after I was already charged close to $1000 it was very frustrating. They finally found my reservation. Somehow he put it under my brothers name. I didn’t appreciate the $40 fee.. But as far as the hotel location the cleanliness, the staff service and the large continental breakfast that had a lot to choose from, I would definitely recommend…. I would love my $40 back though. That was...
