After waiting for about 15 minutes, we asked the bouncer how much longer it might take and he said they were at capacity but if we wanted to pay him $20 a head we could get in. Read more"The Rock" is my favorite stop when I'm down in Newport (about once a month). A real Pub, every hour has it's set of regulars. I recommend their soups (chicken or meatball, usually) and their Reuben sandwich. Mostly, I enjoy a Magners a bite of something, read the paper and chat with whoever is nearby. I've only ever been there when it's quiet (usually on a Tuesday night because reasons) and the bartenders seem like decent people. I've had the reuben (good), vegetable chicken soup (better), and wings (pass). All in all, I go back because it's reliable for a drink and a bite.
