The only problem that I had with my stat at the Wingate Wyndham was the bathroom.
The sink is outside of the bathroom, which I don’t like only because if you had to do a number two and if you have a condition with your hands, sometimes it’s hard to just use one hand. You might have to switch over and use the other hand too, now you got debris on your hands and you have to touch the door knob to get to the sink which I don’t like.
But the worst thing of all was that the caulking had mildew on it and a lot of it…or unless the caulking was just cracked and missing in those places (looked disgusting), and not only the caulking in the surround on the wall, but the soap dish as well. The bathtub definitely needs to be resurfaced because I would not want to have taken a bath in it and or bathe a child in it, if I had one. The freezer was a disservice as it was caked with ice. (Suggestion) housekeepers…take hot towels to place in freezer to thaw the ice quickly. And, the only other thing that I did take notice was the hall carpets are stained in various places (middle). New carpeting should ensue.
Other than that, I recommend this place because there was absolutely NO BEDBUGS!!! 🥰
There was no manner of body fluids on the sheets and or pillows. I know because me and my roommate used my bedbug flashlight and goggles to inspect the bed thoroughly, and there was no manner of stains on the sheets, or on the covers, or the mattress itself, no stains whatsoever that could be see physically and or via illumination of the bedbug flashlight shining on the bed.🥰
The price was very affordable. It was very quiet. I got a great nights sleep. The bed was very comfortable as to were the pillows. There was a nice sized TV in the room and the room smelled fresh and clean. The air conditioner maintained the room at a steady temperature. There was no noise heard in the room from the pool and we were right across from it.
I really enjoyed myself at the Wingate by Wyndham South Bend, Indiana, and I look forward in the future of staying there again. ✔️I recommend this place to anyone wishing to have a great night sleep. This is the hotel to come to. The pool was very cold, but I can live with that, however, it would be nice to have a hot Jacuzzi to get into after a dip in a freezing cold indoor pool, and please put a clock on the wall so we’ll know what time it is. We were there later in the evening and we knew the pool closed at 10, but we didn’t have a super great enjoyment because we were constantly wondering if it was past 10 o’clock already, because we didn’t want to be the guest that didn’t follow the rules. So hopefully by the next time we come to visit, which would be this time in the next three or four years in September, I will request room 305 and see if those changes have been made (new mold free caulking and new or stained free hall carpets); and also if there’s a clock in the pool room and hopefully there will be a hot water (working) Jacuzzi there to warm ourselves up after coming out of a frigid cold pool.
✔️I’m looking forward to my next stay! I...
Read moreFirst of all I want to point out that our family alone has participated in more than 20 of these stay to play tournaments and not once were we ever charged the security deposit.
That being said, this hotel SCAMS guests. Do not stay here or fall for it. All the recent reviews of it being poorly kept up are correct. Freezing cold pool, hallways and gathering areas were not heated. We got cold sitting in a lounge area while we were wearing hoodies, jackets and long pants.
When we arrived with our 10U hockey team, at least 4 rooms had either a broken TV, heater or faucets. The heater in our room was so loud I had to shut it off at night. When we returned home each family in our group had a $100 charge for that deposit. We were told it was due to our kids causing damage and being unruly at 2am. We had games no later than 8am each of the next mornings we stayed there. We were not out running the halls and banging on doors. We were in bed by 11 at the latest with many of us turning in by 8pm each night. Even so there was not ONE time when the employees came up to ANY of our parents to inform us of our kids being inappropriate. We did not damage anything. When we asked for proof of the damage none was given. They claim to have sent the proof to Hockey Time (the tournament organizer). We have not heard back as of yet - 2 weeks later. Shame on Hockey Time for Choosing this hotel. We have filed multiple reports with the BBB and the States Attorney Generals office. Choice Hotels was also called and we were told they would review the relationship they have with this private owner. NOTE - this hotel has several pending litigations that are unsettled.
The scam is the blanket $100 extra surcharge they put on many of the guests. They use teams code of conduct forms, without proof, as an excuse to charge their guests more than the agreed amount.
Be well aware of...
Read moreWe stayed at The Clover Hotel for a stay-to-play hockey tournament in South Bend, and was disappointed with the cleanliness and quality of the hotel. The pool water was too cold so none of the kids wanted to swim. If the pool is the highlight of your stay, do not stay here unless you bring a wet suit There were multiple red flags that this hotel is not well maintained. But the bombshell was the $100 charge, that after reading the reviews, EVERY hockey team that stayed at the hotel that weekend were hit with the charge for unruly behavior and supposed destruction of property. Not once were any of the parents approached about our kids' behavior. Believe me, if my kids were being unruly and disruptive I would have put a stop to it; and there was no evidence from the hotel of the damages caused by the kids. The hotel was in disrepair (as I said, there were red flags) so the damage may have existed for years before we ever set foot in their lobby. The name on the comment on the bill for the person responsible for the damages is no one from our group. If you had a name, why wouldn't you verify it's someone staying at your hotel? Unless you don't care about donating $100 to this hotel or dealing with your credit card company, then by all means, enjoy the cold pool water and dirty bathrooms with toilet seat covers that don't stay up (for men). The only positive was that the hotel staff were friendly, professional, and accommodating. It's unfortunate that this review may reflect poorly on them instead of the hotel's management and owners
Adding to the review to respond to the owner. We called the hotel directly for a refund of the $100, and were told there was nothing they could do about it. The only recourse was to challenge it through the credit...
