What a great hotel. I stay in a lot of hotels, but they Hyatt place has everything you are looking for. Very modern room with an amazing shower and a really cool sliding bathroom door. Seems like a silly thing to comment about but it was a great addition. Quiet rooms, super comfortable bed, all the towels you will need. It’s really the amenities though that sell this hotel for me. Ultra cool artsy lobby, very friendly and helpful staff. Two bars, one that closes at 10pm but also another that stays open until 2:30am, which almost never happens at hotels. It’s really nice to have a place you can kick back and relax with a drink at where you don’t have to drive… your room is right upstairs! And I am a nightowl, so being open late absolutely works for me. Also a free REAL (not continental) breakfast that includes eggs, sausage, pancakes, fruits, cereals, etc. Another great thing I noticed is that not only is this hotel quiet, even though there were multiple events going on at the hotel, but I also didn’t have a housekeeper banging on my door at 6am. If I was going to find one thing that I didn’t like… and it is hard to do at this venue, it’s that I didn’t see any USA Todays in the lobby. That’s a personal thing that I look forward to. But really, with such a fantastic place all around, I can spend the $2 and buy one at the gas station down the road, lol. The hotel was very clean and nice and the staff was good as well. There was/is an issue however with management or ownership. I was hanging out in the lobby bar/restaurant area(where they also serve breakfast) with a friend who was also staying at the hotel. It was around 4pm, there was us and one other group in the area. We had brought our own drinks and snacks into the area and after about 20 minutes, were told by staff we couldn't eat or drink our own stuff in the bar/restaurant area. We apologized as we were not aware and said we would move to the actual lobby part of the area, clearly separate from the bar/restaurant. The staff then said we couldn't do that in that area either due to management or ownership telling them they can't allow it. The staff were nice and apologetic about it and I understand they were just doing their jobs. However, can anyone honestly say they've ever been told they can't hang out and drink and eat their own stuff in a hotel lobby? I used to have a job that required travel to various states every few days for months at a time so I was frequently in hotels of varying brands and quality(including many other Hyatt hotels) and I was never told I can't eat or drink my own food in the lobby. Now my son plays travel sports so I have been in quite a few hotels in Michigan and have never been told this either. It makes no sense and needs to be fixed.
