I’ve ordered here twice, the food has been a wonderful experience each time, the father or boss seams very attentive as well and always on top of things from the times I’ve walked in, it’s nice to see a family take pride in what they do and seeing them operate it’s very inspiring , the only thing that made me a bit nervous is maybe they’re not used to too many black folks walking in, I’m a shy person too and that’s okay because sometimes I don’t say hi when I mean to. I said hi and kinda got a blank stare and that made me a bit nervous. I was asked for a phone number and name after saying my name a few times they asked for my phone , I’m sure this was just to make sure I didn’t take anyone else order you know, then I said Thank you and didn’t get anything back either which makes us feel unwelcome despite spending a large amount of money there twice now I think I’ll just stick to take out and avoid dine in until I’m sure or feel confident enough to do so, I’ve never felt like this anywhere else oriental so idk it could be me but a few other comments of other coloured folks brought this up. Just shoot a hi back and don’t stare at us blankly. I promise we don’t bite. If I’m mis judging ofc I’m so sorry 😭🙏 thank you...
Read moreFood is not bad but the reason I give 3 stars because the honesty. I saw the menu has Soup dumpling and Har Gow. I asked the owner of the restaurant when he came to take the order if the soup dumpling is frozen or they made it in house?
The owner told me that they made it and it’s frozen because they have to keep in frozen. I repeat my question again if they buy frozen soup dumpling or they make it in the restaurant. He is remain same answer. I order 2 baskets of Soup Dumpling and 2 baskets of Har Gow. When they drop the basket in front of me I open to check if it’s premade frozen or made in house then I realized the guy was lying to me. Frozen premade dim sum I can buy at Asian grocery store. I even know the supplier.
Don’t lie to your customer. Take proud of what you do. You dim sum is frozen premade that you bought from vendor not make in house.
I personally made soup dumpling to sell at the restaurant before. I never have to freeze my soup dumpling for storage. I make it freshly on dairy basis. You look down on your customer thinking that your customer will not notice this. Let me be clear. The premade store bought soup dumpling that use machine produce will have the pattern on the dough...
Read moreWow. i stumbled across Szechuan Fan as it was close to the Hyatt Place hotel where I was staying for the annual Battery Show in Novi, Michigan. What a gem! i don’t think i have had better Chinese food outside China, Hong Kong or Vancouver. Very unassuming location and decor and they don’t serve beer or wine but the food is delicious and the menu was diverse. lots of dishes that Americans may not find familiar but also the classics of “American Chinese” dishes (says so right on the menu Lol). Delightful couple that own it and they were so gracious. I originally ordered take out but decided to stay and eat at the restaurant and watch dishes come out to other tables. i wish i was staying another night- would definitely go back to try more things like the garlic stir fry pea shoots!. if you are vegetarian, you will be very happy - lots of options. Great job Szechuan Fan team! if you are at the Battery Show this week and need a place for a fast meal, head across the street you won’t be sorry. Maybe call. and see if...
