Folks, let me tell you about a little hidden gem that's got the whole town of Oak Island buzzing with excitement - Shagger Jacks! Now, this place might not be on your radar just yet, but mark my words, it'll soon be your go-to spot for some good ol' fashioned family fun and mouthwatering seafood.
First off, let me give you the scoop on the atmosphere. As soon as you step foot into Shagger Jacks, you're greeted with a warm and welcoming vibe that'll make you feel right at home. The staff is as friendly as can be, ready to serve up some smiles along with your food. And speaking of food, oh boy, prepare to have your taste buds do a happy dance!
Now, let's talk about the menu. Shagger Jacks knows their seafood like the back of their hand. From the moment you crack open that menu, you'll be reeling in excitement! The shrimp, my friends, are so fresh and juicy, they practically swim right onto your plate. And if you're feeling adventurous, give their famous crab cakes a whirl. These little bundles of joy are jam-packed with flavor that'll make your taste buds high-five each other!
But wait, there's more! Shagger Jacks isn't just about seafood, they've got a little somethin' for everyone. Their burgers will make your mouth water with every bite, and their chicken tenders are so crispy, they'll have you clucking with delight. And I can't forget to mention their salads, perfect for those looking to lighten things up a bit. It's like they've got a magical wand that turns every dish into a taste explosion!
Now, let's talk about the ambiance. Shagger Jacks has got it all - a laid-back beachy vibe mixed with a sprinkle of excitement. Picture this: you're sitting at a table, toes in the sand, sipping on a cold beverage, and listening to live music. It's like a vacation for your soul, my friends! And let me tell you, the sunsets here are something straight out of a postcard. They're so breathtaking, you'll want to write a love poem to the sky.
But what really sets Shagger Jacks apart is the corny dad jokes they sprinkle throughout the experience. The servers here are not only friendly but funny too! They'll have you chuckling with their groan-worthy jokes that make you roll your eyes and laugh at the same time. It's like they've mixed up a secret potion of good food, great service, and dad jokes that'll leave you grinning from ear to ear.
So, my friends, if you find yourself in Oak Island, North Carolina, be sure to swing by Shagger Jacks. It's the kind of place that'll make you feel like you're at a family reunion, where the food is scrumptious, the atmosphere is inviting, and the jokes are as cheesy as they come. Trust me, you won't regret it!
And that's all she wrote, folks. I'm Kirk Herbstriet, signing off with a belly full of laughter and a heart full of Shagger...
Read moreOur family was treated very poorly upon arrival. We were putting masks on in the parking lot and an employee (possibly the owner) came towards us forcefully telling us to put our masks on. After we got to the host desk we were given a lecture on the importance of wearing a mask while we all had them on. Let me add that the employees were mostly wearing their masks under their chins and not doing the exact thing that he was lecturing about. The man/employee giving the lecture was coming up close to two of the girls in our family waving fingers in our faces. Other patrons were looking over wondering why were were being spoken to the way that we were. Once seated we were told that they did not offer crab legs, when that was what we came for. Multiple online menus and websites state that they do have them. We were told that they haven’t had them in years. It was overall a disappointing experience and after being embarrassed so badly we decided to pay for our sodas and go elsewhere. Our waitress at the table was a sweetheart and we gave her tip and went down the road to Pirates deck were they had crab legs and the sweetest employees! I am not one to leave bad reviews often, and like to give grace where I can. I do recognize that businesses are suffering right now and there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding COVID 19. However, we were treated in a way that was uncalled for and the restaurant lost 6 people’s worth of business because of it. Now is the time to love people and show kindness and that was not shown tonight. If he would have asked kindly and not like he did we would have been quicker putting on our masks. We had every intention to follow the guidelines, we just didn’t realize that we needed to put them on in our cars prior to walking into the...
Read moreWaited an hour to be seated, which we were happy to do but because of this we ordered appetizers right away out of hunger. We had one menu to share for 7 people which was annoying. We asked our waitress if the calamari was big enough to share and she said yes and so we ordered that with some fried pickles. Not only did they never arrive but when we asked if they were coming (30 mins after ordering) she asked " you had appatizers?" (This was also after forgetting our bar drinks and telling my dad they don't serve a beer clearly listed on the menu. They did have it she was just way under trained and uninformed) So we said nevermind assuming our food was almost ready, it wasn't. She never apologized for forgetting our appetizers or for the long wait on food but avoided us like the plague instead. When we finally saw her again it was nothing but attitude. Our food came after over an hour of being there but it was cold like it had been sitting out all that time and my sons meal was missing the fries. We asked for a manager but instead we were offered an "extra" (old) crab dip except my moms allergic to shellfish. when a Mangaer finally came to the table she said she had no idea we were having such bad service, as a server myself I know our waitress should have alerted her MUCH sooner.
We were on vacation for one night and we ended up having to grab fast food on the way back to our condo since we wasted our entire night there and nothing else was open. We saw other servers being great with their tables and getting their food much quicker than us. Our server ended up telling us it was her first night as we were leaving. I get it, being new is hard but management and the other team members shouldn't have let her get so weeded and give us such a...
