Georgios Banquets, Quality Inn & Suites Conference Centre — Hotel in Orland Township

My brother had his reception in the Starview room earlier this month. To say what Georgios provided was a disappointment is an understatement. Upon arriving at the facility (20 minutes after the cocktail hour started), it was humid and almost 90 degrees INSIDE. I first had to finish the set up that Georgios failed to complete- filling vases, lighting candles, turning on multiple lights for the decor, and fix the covering of the stage for the bridal party. I then started searching for a manager to better understand how things could be so unorganized. They claim the power went out, but had a generator to use as backup. The backup did NOT power the A/C. You would think, since Georgios has been in business for so long that they could at least provide fans to help offset the heat. Nope! Couldn’t even handle that. They let 200 plus people sit in a room and sweat all night long. They provided a staff of 3 servers to serve 200 people! Guests were continuously getting up to cool off outside and needed to bring their own water pitchers to the bar in order to get water during dinner service. The groom even asked for a refill and never got it. The service lacked all night long as dinner plates sat on tables for the duration of the night as well as empty bottles and used cups. (Literally to the point you were not able to put your drink down).They were also supposed to replenish the sweet table (mind you this was not set up properly to begin with and they charge $3 per person when they provided NONE of the sweets or decor). Numerous times throughout the night I had to take the time to search for someone that worked there and ask for it. All for a response of “yes we will get to it”. They simply didn’t have the staff to keep up. I tried to find a manager to explain the issues, but I was told this all had to be pushed back until the next day to speak with someone (Mr. Georgio) So what good does that do? You have an event that has thousands of dollars put into it and months and months of planning, but if something goes wrong there’s nothing Georgios can do until the day after the event?! To top it all off. The woman’s bathroom was a disaster- the hand dryers did not work. I asked multiple staff members (even had a guest go to the front desk) for hand towels. It is against health code to not provide this. The towels NEVER came and all night long there were puddles of water in the bathroom (pretty great for Georgios as all of us had long dresses and basically mopped their floor for them). Mr. Georgio stands behind this and offers NO resolution for the lack of service provided. Just a few smug responses. I wonder if it was his daughters wedding if he would have acted differently?? Their website states they offer “rare suburban luxury”.... WOW that could not be farther from the truth. There was NOTHING luxurious that Georgios provided. Be very cautious if you choose to host anything at this venue and be prepared to suffer while the Georgio family makes promises and completely under deliver. Side note- they take a 20% gratuity charge and provide one of the worst services I have ever experienced and then keep the gratuity to themselves. They apparently DO NOT tip that to the servers who worked. It is kept as another way for them to up their bottom line. Despicable to say the least. I couldn’t believe the poor service and the lack of management at a venue of this size. Nothing was done to better the situation and no resolutions were ever provided. Please spend your money...

Georgio's is an amazing place to have any banquet or professional event that you can think of or name. I recently received a school safety award at their location and it was phenomenal. Let's keep in mind that I have did a ton of different photography events such as weddings and anniversaries and professional events here but this was the first time I was ever a recipient of their amazing service. The event was the Archbishop James P Lyke African-American male image award and there were at least 700 people for this event and the place had room for everyone. The location had spaces for the recipients of the award to get prepared and take pictures not to mention the main lobby where other people could still take pictures and check in. The entire experience was amazing and I'm sure if you checked out reviews from other people who were there they were also say the same thing. Ask for the food it was pretty well seasoned. The rainbow sherbet was world class. I know that sounds interesting but that rainbow sherbet was everything. This all around experience was one...
