I wanted to take my son who will be senior next year to check out Miami University in Oxford so I booked this motel on Hotwire as I often do. I only ask for 3-star and up hotels so I didn't expect what I got. If there must be a star, I assume they'd have a 1.||||I checked in at the office where I was asked by a less than friendly clerk if I wanted a non-smoking room. When I told him I did, he informed me that there would be a $50 cash deposit required to be refunded at check out. I had no cash, so I opted for the smoking room which doesn't require a deposit. I also had to pay a $15 pet fee which is fine except that the sign on the door says it's $10.||||The location seemed rather seedy, so at first I thought there was a dead roach outside but then I realized the cicadas were out in full force so at least that wasn't a problem. But still, my teenagers aged 16 and 17 would not get out of the car. Based on the look of the place, I was also concerned about the room, so I didn't force them and went in to take a look around first. ||||The room was clean enough, but I peeled back the covers on one of the beds and was greeted by a stain. The other bed had a stain on the mattress which I could see through the sheet. I dared not peel back the sheet for closer inspection. The bathroom was the worst part because the linens that were hanging up were dirty and there appeared to be mold on the ceiling. The shower area just looked nasty.||||I stood there for a long moment trying to determine if I could stay there as night fell because I'd already paid for it, but I could not imagine being in that place in the dark. We went up the street to Butler Inn which I think is also 1-star, but a vast improvement and even though it was only up the street I felt safer. Maybe because the staff was friendlier or the outside was nicer. I'm not sure. I took the key back to the office at Budget and just dropped it off. There are no refunds with Hotwire and there was a No Refund sign posted in the office window, so I didn't even bother talking with anyone. ||||I don't think that this motel should even be on Hotwire because it gives them a bad name. At the very least, it should be 1-star --...
Read moreI stayed at this inn on a business trip. My 1st impression as I drove up I noticed the grounds were clean and nice landscape. Not fancy, but clean and kept up.
I met one of the owners at check-in. She was very nice, we had a small chat, got my key and headed to the room.
Walked into the room and I will say I was surprised. Room was clean, nicely decorated, had a microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, nice TV, closet area with hangers, plenty of towels, small bottles of body wash and shampoo. It didn't look rundown.
I needed and iron & ironing board so I called the desk and within a few minutes the other owner had them at my door. I had a small chat with him as well. Nice guy. He told me the inn was under new management and they've been working on sprucing up the place.
I will say I was a bit reluctant to stay here because of prior reviews I read. I would say anyone looking for a place to stay, this would be a good spot. Pricing is reasonable, area was clean and quiet. I was there for 1 week and the whole time there I didn't hear any ruckus or anything of the sort. If I make it back that way again I would definitely stay there. The only issue I had is I like taking hot showers and the water wasn't as hot as I would've liked it to be. I did ask the owner on that and he said they're working on it. Other than that there were no other issues. I felt safe in the area, the grounds were nicely lit at night and never felt like I was in a sketchy area. Like other places I've stayed.
If you're looking for a place to stay look no further. It's not a 5 star inn but it's good enough to have a descent place to stay. Almost forgot to mention, there's a Wal-Mart supercenter just down down the road for...
Read moreI’m not one to give bad reviews and I wouldn’t of if they would of given me my 75 dollars back, First off they charged me a cleaning fee of 25 dollars because they said we had our dog in my daughters room which we didn’t, She was in our room the whole time but since there was dog hair on the floor they assumed she was in there and they said it took 2 hours to clean up all the hair , Why do you allow dogs and charge 15 dollars a day if there can’t be any hair, They told us not to get the towels dirty, They said why was there hair in the room and I said because my daughter comes in our room that has the dog , So I did what I thought was a good idea and took my shirt and said now you have hair , Then he tells my boyfriend not to sit down in the office because there was too much hair, They have a dog so I don’t understand that,I have attached pictures of the towels they said not to get dirty along with a roach, I would of never given them a bad review but when you call me a liar and recorded us for simply wanting our money , If you are going there with pets make sure...
