☆☆ update Stayed again February 2023. STAFF IS EVEN FRIENDLIER THAN BEFORE. ON POINT with the IHG ideals and know the tiers of members. Though everyone is treated amazingly and with warm friendly faces, Diamond members at this particular hotel are treated better than some of IHG hotels higher end establishments. As always the Managers Javier and Craig and all of their staff know how to keep their guests with as little worry as possible and strive to make the hotel seems as homey as possible. This hotel has the greatest clean smell every day all day. They take great pride in shampooed carpets and hallways, mopped floors, sanitized areas and hot coffee always ready in the lobby. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AND ITS AMAZING STAFF WHEN STAYING IN PALM DESERT. NO STRESS NO FUSS AND GREAT BREAKFAST.☆☆☆♡ I am grateful to the staff and management at this hotel for stellar service and above and beyond genuine concern for providing a stay that made it feel homey and safe. I had a longer stay off and on for 2 months while waiting for house remodeling phases and I cannot express enough how amazing the staff is. With the exception of one manager, each and every employee is the epitome of what hotel service should be everywhere. The front desk agents are genuine and friendly and take steps to ensure you have as little trouble and as many comforts and welcoming as they can give. IHG is the parent company of Holiday Inn and they have a handbook perfect collection of workers in this location. Craig, Justin, Alicia are the most professional, patient and thoughtful front desk handlers. They reinforce the standards of IHG and make this my go to place in any time of an out of home stay. The Assistant Manager and Manager of the hotel support their staff 200 percent and give them the means to deliver the service they do. The housekeepers are warm, friendly and always laughing and accommodating. It is easy to see they enjoy their workplace and their peers. The hotel itself is immaculate and highly sterilized. The breakfast in the morning hours is all you can eat and amazing. Pancake machine, lots of pastries, eggs, proteins, hot cinnamon rolls and service that rivals that of many cafes. I was sad to see that the majority of breakfast diners did not tip the workers who never stopped for 3 hours in cleaning, restocking, refreshing the food and dining areas. They accommodate special requests and take great pride in starting their guests out with a strong breakfast and a snack for the road. The laundry facility was spotless...even behind the washer where all the hoses are and the trim around the floor and the ceiling as well as the vents...dust free. One dollar to wash one dollar to dry...by far the cheapest coin laundry I have seen out of dozens of hotels. I highly recommend this place and recommend no other in this valley as the service, true cleanliness, and personal interaction with staff is beyond words and above comparison. I thank all of the staff, as well as do my children. My son has a Cardiological lifelong condition and this hotel made him feel 100 percent safe during the pandemic. My only issue honestly was with one staff member who worked the morning desk and consistently had a bad attitude or a sour look on her face. My interactions and the ones I observed between her and the other guests consistently seemed like a bother to her. Her manner of speaking was always condescending and irritated and had no patience for people. Her tone towards people was maddening to me and often times I and my children would avoid the morning desk unless necessary. However everyone has tough periods. I always hope to see a turn around in attitude when I return to a hotel. But one sour face didn't tarnish the facts that this hotel is top tier in service and accommodation and value. 10 out of 5 stars and IHG needs to recognize the value of the staff they have here in Palm Desert. They are the...
Read moreI now have mixed feelings after this third stay here. Prior to this stay, I didn't have mixed feelings and felt like we found our go to hotel for when we visit this area several times a year but now I am not so sure. This was the worst stay out of our three stays. We usually always feel welcomed by friendly and professional staff upon arriving but not this time. I can't say any of that for this recent check in. The gal seem like she didn't want to be there and took it out on everyone else. Ok so she must of been having a bad day, moving on to entering our room. Upon entering our room, there were so called orange and brown stains on the counters and an area on the wall. U could see what had been dusted, what hadn't without touching anything. And there was hair on the bedding before even touching it. Great. So I dropped our luggage and turned TV on for my daughter (which the TV was very slanted so I hope it wasn't going to fall off the wall) and went back to the front desk (dreading it cuz I didn't want to deal with the lady I did at check in) and asked if we could be moved and she said third floor. No, we can deal with this room for one night. My daughter doesn't handle elevators well so I try to avoid them. Went back to the room and started on wiping everything down as i normally do when we first arrive. Guess what, all those orange and brown so called stains wiped right up and off the wall. What the heck! Room was definitely not cleaned. Room was much cleaner when we checked out than it was upon arrival! I pulled the bedding (only one thin comforter on bed no top sheet just fitted) and there was a ton of stuffing coming out of it as it had large holes in it. Who the heck puts a torn up comforter on a bed for guest to use? Would the housekeeper do that at her own home? I would hope not. And hair on sheet after pulling comforter back as well. Same with other bed, hair. At least that bed had a decent comforter. Neither of them were the cleanest so I am glad we had some blankets in the car. I did go right back out to the front desk dreading I would have to deal with the lady again (its not pleasant to deal with unpleasant unprofessional people) and I mentioned it to her and boy did she seem I inconvenienced her asking for the comforter to be swapt out and why. I even showed her a photo of it. NOw I know not to ask anything else rest of the night. We are now already late for GLOW at the zoo because of all these issues. I have never had such a bad experience at a hotel before especially at this level of a hotel. I set the a/c at 66 as the room was hot and stuffy. When we returned 3 hours later the room said 72 yet the thermometer set to 66. Great. Its going to be a hot night. I went to my car and got the fan out that I always carry with us. So the a/c is the pits there. It was a very hot long night and we woke up to the room being 78 despite temp set to 66. Granted the a/c has never worked correctly in all three of our stays but not this bad. The lady in the breakfast room was nice - finally a nice professional staff person! She was so aware of her surroundings and always making sure to be out of everyones way while she did her work. I still can't say anything nice about the front desk people despite being different ones the morning of check out. What the heck. What happened to the friendly, welcoming, professional hotel staff. The lady we ran into cleaning rooms was really nice and I was hoping she wasn't the one that did a horrible job on our room. Anyway, we manually checked out and that was a mistake. Should of done the digital check out and avoided the front desk staff. Not a great way to start the day but I definitely choose to not let it affect our day. Not worth it. So will I be back? IDK. I really like the location and had two great stays but what was good about this stay? Parking was easy as usual. Good water pressure and water...
Read moreI stayed here for two nights as a solo traveler and I was very pleasantly surprised. I was in Palm Springs to attend an aviation expo at the airport. Everyone has their own criteria for rating a given motel, and this one definitely exceeded my expectations. One is room lighting. And for me, size does matter--the room was indeed large, and the lighting was excellent. And speaking of size, the flat screen TV was a bit small, considering the viewing distance from the bed. Very comfortable bed, however, and the room was modern and exceptionally clean. The internet service was fast and worked well, and the room had a microwave and decent size fridge. The HVAC isn't central, but the room unit worked well and was quiet on the low settings. The blackout drapes were effective.
Fresh baked cookies are served in the lobby every day at 6:00 P.M., and boy, were they good! It's the small stuff like that that'll keep me coming back--I'm not hard to please. They also have a nice PC and printer in the lobby. I didn't use any of the other amenities such as the workout room or pool. I've been bringing my swimsuit to motels for many years, and have yet to use it. I'll let everyone know when I do.
The included breakfast was far above average, for included breakfasts. Very nice, helpful service staff. Great variety too, including two kinds of eggs, bacon, nice fruit assortment, yogurt, and numerous other selections such as make-your-own pancakes. But the machine was entirely too technical for me, but consider this: I have trouble with a can opener. On my second morning, checkout morning, I had to leave prior to when breakfast was served. When I whined and sniveled about that, the lady at the desk made sure I got a few basics before I left, which was a wonderful gesture she didn't have to do. But I dunno; maybe it was just to get rid of me; I can be a real pain. One thing's for sure: I wake up starved, and not having ever missed a meal in my life, I didn't wanna break my record.
Another reviewer mentioned room renovations. Well, construction is going on there now, and there was quite a loud racket in the lobby. I'll bet you didn't know that jackhammers can be used indoors. I was given a room as far away from the construction as possible, so the noise level was acceptable (and it did end around 6:00 P.M.). I didn't downgrade my rating because of that, as I realize it's a transitory thing. But if it's going on when you check in, don't fail to ask for a room far away from the noise.
I get to Palm Springs a couple times a year. I'll definitely be staying here again.
Room Tip: If the construction's still going on, be sure to request a room far...
