As a parent you go above and beyond for your children. As a gift for my daughter's 8th birthday I wanted to surprise her with a weekend getaway at a luxurious hotel with a pool. This location in particular was suggested by my sister who previously attended a banquet that was held at this hotel. My check in experience was uneasy due to a funding issue. The young lady at the desk advised me that the security deposit would only be accepted my card not cash. My experience at other hotels were different. The deposit was optional, card or cash. She didn't even try to see if any exceptions could be made. She gave a long stare between myself and the computer and sat my card and I.D on the counter. Once that situation was finally handled and we got to the room, it was ordinary. $546.00 must have been for the location of the hotel. (1) There were coffee beans and nacho chips on our floor under one of our beds from a previous stay. (2) On the patio half of the patio was flooded with water and a few cigarette buds so we could only stand on one side of the patio. (3) It was very humid in our room. The central air was not very central. There was only one vent that produced quality air when it wanted to dispite being at the lowest degree allowed which was 65 degrees. (4) Their smart TV operatored with delays. Luckily I brought my game system with us in order for us to enjoy the television at a normal speed. (5) I asked one of the house keepers if we needed to be cleared from the room in order for it to be serviced but she pretended not to speak English while telling me in English that she doesn't speak english...lol (6) This last statement over rules the entire stay and I'm saddened to even report this but not one of us were comfortable at this hotel. And yes I'm speaking on racism. My niece and daughter gave two Caucasian girls a compliment on their dresses and they were completely ignored. I was in the pool with my two daughters. We were playing Marco polo in the pool and while we were laughing having fun...everyone was staring at us like we did something wrong. We also decided to take a walk around the premises and the stares we experienced were so vulgar. It made us feel like we didn't belong there which is so disappointing bc I spent the same amount of money as they spent to enjoy a weekend there and we weren't even comfortable. In conclusion the total experience was extremely disappointing. Yes the location itself is beautiful. We love nature but the actual hotel, from the staff to the guests made us feel very unwelcomed. It's disgusting to even digest the thought that racism still exists after so many centuries. We really felt out of place the entire stay and I couldn't wait to go home. I can only be grateful that my 8 year old is too young to understand the environment she was surrounded by so she didn't suffer emotionally or mentally from this experience. On that note alone MISSON ACCOMPLISHED bc the stay was for her and her birthday. But as for myself and the my other children who are old enough to understand what happened it was a very life altering experience and I will never allow them to go through that again. Never. I wouldn't even rate this hotel a one star. And I definitely wouldn't have my wedding here, since that was a conversation prior to my experience from a...

I stayed at the Marriott Park Ridge this weekend for a wedding. I reserved the room for one night. Upon check in, staff at the concierge desk was not overly friendly, but went about going through the motions checking me in while still having conversations with one another. The room, which overlooked the indoor pool, was standard and clean enough. The tissues in the room had weird blue stains on them, possibly a cleaning product that leaked inside. The air was incredibly loud but would turn off intermittently to maintain the temperature. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were clean.

I checked out the following day on the app. Easy enough or so I thought. Before leaving, I went up to the concierge and said, "I checked out on the app. Is there anything else that I need to do?" The concierge was polite and confirmed that that was it, and I was on my way. Two days later, I had a missed call from the hotel, but no voicemail. I thought this was odd but thought maybe it was a follow up survey. I checked my e-mail and saw I had two more receipts from the Park Ridge. I looked at the dates on it, and I realized they charged my for TWO NIGHTS instead of one. I went back to the app and my stay was not even listed anymore. I called up, gave my information, and the concierge, very matter-of-factly, said that what happened was I left the Privacy sign on my door, housekeeping could not get in, and so they charged me for a second night. He did not offer to fix the situation, nor did he offer an apology; it seemed that I was simply expected to accept that this was a $200+ charge that I was supposed to eat. I firmly explained that I had checked out on the app, so the hotel was aware that I was no longer a guest at their hotel. I told him that I am not paying for this charge. He sighed and asked me to hold on, came back on the phone and said that he would send me a new receipt with a charge for only one night.

While in the end I was only charged for one night, I hate how this was handled. If I checked out on the hotel's app, WHY was I held responsible for paying another night? Why was I not even given an apology? Why did I have to continue to explain myself to the hotel in order to get refunded for a second night when I was already back home because I had already checked out? Does the hotel not even have cameras in the hallway where they could clearly see me leaving with my bags and never returned because I had already checked out? Why is there even an option for me to check out on the app if clearly I am supposed to do it in person, as not to confuse the staff? Now I have to keep an eye on my credit card statement to ensure that I received the refund and, if not, I will have to dispute it. This is a headache that I, as a guest of Marriott, never asked for. I don't usually stay at Marriott hotels because I think they're generally underwhelming, and this issue is really not going to convince me otherwise.

TL; DR: Clean enough with standard rooms, apathetic staff that might charge you for an additional night's stay even after you've...

This hotel was just awful.

We spent over $200 for one night, and it was HORRIBLE. The rooms have low ceilings and there were cracks, stains, and chips in the paint and on the dressers. The very first light that you turn on when you walk into the room flickers on and off like it’s haunted. I thought we were staying at a Marriott, not a motel 6.

My big issue though was the pool. It was AWFUL. we called ahead to make sure that the pool and hot tub were open because that was 98% of the reason we were going on vacation. When we got there, the pool was packed wall to wall in this tiny little thing with at least a dozen tweens that were playing with 3 of the lifeguard’s buoy in the water. On the outside pool, there was a Hispanic family of 30 with 3 coolers, a wagon with life vests and pool toys for their kids, and a giant speaker blasting bad bunny. Them and their kids took up the majority of the outdoor pool. How is there not a limit on what you’re allowed to bring to the deck area? It’s a public area and for $200 a night, I felt like I was staying at a municipal pool in Harlem.

And the hot tub? The family’s kids kept periodically yelling, “I have to use the bathroom!” The ran out of the pool, into the hot tub, and back out of the hot tub. My family and I were disgusted. We tried coming back later and the family was there for the entire day with all the kids.

My friend and I even tried feeling the hot tub, and it was COLD. We asked an employee why it was cold and he said they had fixed it earlier in the day and it was still “heating up” from that. We come back the next day, and the hot tub water is gray and opaque, like a bathtub, and it has caution tape around the whole thing. What the actual hell?? Next time I pay over 200 dollars for a single night at a Marriott, I’ll keep in mind that I’m paying for a dirty, filthy, over-crowded cesspool reminiscent of a municipal public pool in east New York.

There’s also the towels at the pool area—as you can see in the photos, they were stained and brown. These are NEW towels! They were rolled up and ready to take. It was so bad, I literally saw guests wrapping themselves in towels with yellow stains up the back. How the hell???

The plastic entry to the outdoor pool from the indoor pool was a different level of nasty, stained from the chlorine and brown from age. It smelled like a fish tank. The water outside was filled with bugs—spiders, dragonflies, regular flies (those giant black ones) and they were just floating around in the water. The pool was also SALTY. how is a chlorinated pool salty????

They also let the people who were blasting music at the pool to bring their speakers wherever they wanted. They were at the bar, the outdoor seating, all public places, with Spanish music on the loudest setting. I have no words.

God, save yourself and never visit this crappy hotel. Shame on them for wasting our money...
