Gen Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Montvale

We recently celebrated my wife’s birthday with a group of 18 guests, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Organizing a large party can be stressful, but the staff handled everything smoothly and made sure we felt welcome and well taken care of.

We started with a sushi boat for appetizers, and it was an immediate hit with everyone. The presentation was stunning—plentiful rolls, fresh sashimi, and a beautiful arrangement that got everyone’s cameras out before the chopsticks came in. The variety was impressive, and the fish tasted fresh and high-quality.

For the main course, we all enjoyed hibachi, which brought great energy to the night. Each dish was cooked perfectly to order, and the portions were generous.

The service throughout the evening was excellent—attentive, organized, and patient with such a large group. Timing was smooth, drinks stayed full, and everything came out hot and fresh.

Overall, it was a truly enjoyable evening that made my wife’s birthday feel special. Great food, great company, and great hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!! Went for dinner to celebrate a family members birthday it was Monday 12/30/24 and we presented a 15% off coupon that would be applied to the entire check, with exception to holidays and weekends, with an expiration date of 12/31/24. They refused to apply the 15% coupon because they said it was a holiday with no other explanation. The wait staff was extremely rude and unprofessional especially when we would ask for something they would immediately make faces and start talking in their language to each other out loud before they even left the table. I have been here before many times to celebrate different occasions, first time ever trying to use a coupon, but NEVER AGAIN will I be eating here!!!! Extremely uncomfortable experience. Happy...

Terrible customer service. They gave me the bill and I gave my card. 2 copies of the bill were on either side of the leather binder. I noticed the bill was 88 and I was charged 91 so I politely said excuse me why was I charged 91 if the bill was 88 and I took it out of the binder to show. Instead of the man explaining there was a convenience fee of 3% (which is totally fine especially after COVID) he instead banged on the table to where the leather binder was. When I tell you he BANGED the table three times and walked away. I then saw that the convenience fee notice was in the binder where the bill had been covering at first. Absolutely disgusting behavior in any establishment to paying customers. Will never be going back. Plenty of other BETTER sushi...
