We recently stayed at the Adelaide Inn and even though I hate to write this review, it has to be said. We are 25+ year guests at the Inn and are truly shocked at what we encountered on our last trip there.
Issue # 1 - As with many hotels there are quieter and busier areas. We always ask for a room in the quieter area and did so when this reservation was made months ago. I followed that up with a phone call less than 24 hours before arriving and was told that we were already placed in the requested room. Upon arrival we found out that we had been moved from upstairs in the middle of the property to the first floor in the back of the property. We were also told that the Inn was full and there was nothing that could be done. The front desk person was as confused as we were about why our room was changed. We arranged to switch rooms in the morning. There was a wildfire in the area and there were several firefighters staying at the Inn and unfortunately their trucks were backed up right in front of our room, less than 5' away. At 5 am when they loaded up and started up all the trucks it was so loud our door and window were actually shaking. Oddly enough out requested room was no where near the trucks or had any firefighters staying in the area. The rooms around the trucks that we were put in were mostly occupied by firefighters. So once again, no reasonable explanation why we were moved.
We have nothing but respect for firefighters and this issue was 100% with the Adelaide Inn.
In the morning when we went in to the office to switch rooms, the new desk person went straight into telling me what the rules were and her attitude was truly ridiculous.
Issue # 2 - The property is starting to look quite run down. The photos of the tattered shade by the pool with the tree branch that had grown thru it and the completely worn away artificial turf on the couple of mini golf holes by the pool are just a couple of examples.
Issue # 3 - There are some adopted cats living in the pool area as that is where their food bowls are. The entire pool area smells of cat urine. We heard several guests complain about it by the pool.
Issue # 4 - Gross! There was new and old cat poop in the pathway next to the koi pond by out room. Sitting in the Paso summer sun made the smell and flies very disgusting. More attached photos. GROSS!!!
I have no idea what has happened to the Adelaide Inn. Maybe they were sold?? It used to be owned and managed by a family and there was always a family member in the office. They were very courteous hosts with old school hospitality training and the exact opposite of the rude employee mentioned above.
There are many hotels in Paso now and we will be trying them out on our next trips.
I came across a review I posted on the site about this Inn a few years back. What a difference.

Read moreThe management is much to be desired I had a fifth wheel and was awaiting an RV spot to park it so I stayed at the Adelaide motel as I was told they had an empty lot I could park my RV until the spot became available.. well about a week into my stay after paying over a hundred dollars a night . The manager approached me rather rude stating that no one gave me permission to park my fifth wheel in their empty lot and me without a voice lost it to cancer responded with how did I know you had an empty lot for me to park it there if I wasn't told I could and she responded well I want it moved tomorrow. So the next morning I was running a little late checking out as I did find an RV spot to park my fifth wheel at the lower part of SLO county, so my intentions were to leave, well she comes knocking on my door at a few minutes after check out and I told her I was just gathering up my things that it would only take me a few more minutes So at 15 minutes after check out she's calling and calling and without a voice my electronic one sounds scrambled on a telephone, so I didn't answer it and as I picked up my bags to take them to my truck shes standing in the doorway with two big bulky men to remove me and I said to get look I told you.i wadvrunning a little kate I've paid you alot of money this isn't necessary and she stsrted yelling me to get out of her face or she was going to call the police well mind you im a small 63 yr old woman disabled at that without a voice and I was trying to get through the doorway with my.lugguage and she was right in my way. It just goes to show you that because I don't have a voice she totally didn't take the time to listen to me at all, explain to her that I was running a little late. I think shes on drugs and. Needs to go to go eat a Twinkie and take a nap she obviously has some anger issues. I paid them alot of money to stay the week that I did and I will never go back I've never been treated so rudely in my.life if I was the owners the first thing I would do if they wanted to stay in business would be to fire that rude manager that's...
Read moreI was most impressed by reservation staff who made arrangements via email in arranging a room to accommodate my mobility issues. On Monday, May 9, 2022 at 10:45 PM, I was notified by reservations: “Yes, the Handicapped Full-bed room is available, and I have reserved that for you.”
Staff graciously accommodated me per the following: RESERVATION INFO Confirmation #: AI325919997 Room Type: FULL BED / WHEELCHAIR # of Adults: 1
As comfortable as Room 419 was, the bathroom hardly accommodated one with mobility issues let alone a wheelchair. Though the tub was well equipped with grab bars it was your standard tub and quite difficult to maneuver. Adding to the tub complications, the least amount of water made the tile floor in the bathroom and dressing area quite slippery to which I lost my balance on several occasions. I therefore, was only able to use the tub once during my four-night stay.
In addition, as I was conveniently located on the first floor, the ice and vending machines were located on the second floor. Though I was able to maneuver the stairs for a cold Pepsi and a bucket of ice, one time, I did not have the convenience that I had hoped. One in a wheelchair would not have access by any means. I am aware of a similar setup at the pool area, but that was far enough away to be an inconvenience, as well as a challenge to get to.
I do hope that you will provide this issue your fullest attention for these matters to be remedied. It is important, and perhaps a legality, to provide full wheelchair accessibility for the next guest who may need the accommodations.
This doesn't appear to be a priority to Shaina Knightshead, General Manager Adelaide Inn when she replied to my issue, "When we make updates to our facilities, we include compliance with California Building Code and Title 24...
