I highly encourage you to participate in the awesome California Mid-State Fair.
It is held annually in Paso Robles in July. The admission fee is affordable. Additionally, you can buy cheaper tickets in advance or use coupons in your mailbox to save more money.
The atmosphere at the Fair is very lively and fascinating with many shops and great food stands. Moreover, there are some livestock and other animals you can see as well.
The amusement rides and music stages create a cheerful ambiance. It is a fun place and suitable for the whole family, particularly for kids.
We came to the Fair after lunch. Our two-ticket coupon included two lemonades with two hot dogs on a stick or two cheese sticks. They were all great. However, we still had room for something else before we left.
We're glad that we tried the Jalapeño cheese Pretzel. It was the best pretzel I’ve ever had.
Generally, a pretzel is a little bit chewy and has a hard texture. But this freshly-baked pretzel was very soft with fresh ingredients that were incredibly delicious. We highly recommend it. Don't miss out because you can’t find it outside of the Fair.
The unlimited ride tickets are a great deal if you want to try everything out. There are two options:
Unlimited Ride Wristband with Front of the Line Access $75
Unlimited Ride Wristband $55
Or you can buy 10 Digital Game/Ride Credits for $15.
Also, we discovered an Unlimited Daily Refills Soda stand called Wild Bills that is excellent for drinking and saving money. Unfortunately, we found this place as we were leaving the Fair.
This brings to mind, pets and outside food or beverages are not allowed. Exception: Service animals. Each person may bring up to 2 unopened plastic water bottles or an empty reusable plastic water bottle.
Sometimes one day is not enough to see and eat everything. I wish they could sell a two-day pass without having to buy a...
Read moreThe Mid-State Fair is a once a year deal. So… Plan ahead to be there at right time Typically it is the last couple weeks of July. Check their website to be sure. Now of my details. As the fair is huge, at least for our area, not Enormous like LA County fair. There is something for everyone and I will not be covering all of the possibilities. I love to go to the sheep dog trials which are typically the first Sunday of the Fair. These dogs, mostly border collies, are incredible. For me it is a not to be missed event. They can move those sheep around and through gates and do it all with only a few commands. Incredible. Next I will say this is an agricultural area and there are sheep, goats, pigs, cows chickens and much more on display. Next I go to see the floral and plant displays. It is best to do this during the first few days of the fair as flowers don’t last forever. The succulents and cactus displays are very cool. Next it is off to see the photographic and paintings prize winners. The Art is all over the map and there are always some things I like and some things I don’t understand. There is always a scarecrow competition and these can be very clever. Next I go off to the crafts area to see everything including but not limited to decorated cakes, cookies, jams, jellies, quilts, embroidery, and handicrafts of all styles. Stuff made by kids and stuff made by professionals and all in between, Well I have seen enough now and it is getting late. So I will be back again for the fair next year. Check schedules and there are always some fabulous performers. Food of all those fair type - deep fried anything. Commercial exhibits of all the things you did not know you needed. A midway to win a teddy bear and take a ride on the hammerhead or carousel. There is something for everyone at ‘The Biggest Little...
Read moreI was just at the Paso Robles Mid State fair last night and I was extremely disappointed with the service. Upon entry I was told that water bottles were not to be admitted, which is not highly advertised on the website. I offered to dump the water and purchase water inside by they said no and to leave it by the entrance security tables. I complied, but they failed to mention that they would be thrown away. I am Super disappointed with the management and conduct of officials at the Midstate fair. When I was politely inquiring about my water bottle when leaving I was shooed away, shrugged off with the response of “I don’t know” from the information desk and finally yelled at by a entrance security employee. This was just the icing on the cake. I should have been informed that my options were to take my water bottle back to my car or it was to be left by the desk and THROWN OUT. This omitted information would have changed my choice. I am a disabled wheel chair user. Purchasing from venders is extremely difficult for me to navigate. I really needed my water bottle. The 2024 Paso Robles mid-state made be feel disabled. The fair was extremely disheartening, I used to bring my kids here, but unfortunately that tradition has ended. I will not be bringing my grandchildren here. And frankly I cannot afford it. Each bottle of water is 9 dollars in the 100+ degree heat, essentially a monopolistic, disgusting corporate slob practice. I used to really enjoy the fair experience, this has changed that. I know other people who are starting to feel the same way and probably will not be...
