I will edit the review if needed but as a solo traveler, I highly appreciate being designated a QUIET room away from loud children and families. I don't care to hear your children, run and scream, I am on vacation too- and want peace and quiet. As a Chicagoan I get plenty of noise at home. So I am not sure if that was intentional but if it was, thank you. Most parents can't comprehend that the world doesn't want to hear their children whom they deem to be so adorable...I don't. I do my best to get away from them which is hard in a budget hotel, but it can be equally as tough in an expensive resort as well so I took my chances.
Update: looks like I left just in time as a family with young kids of course- was assigned 2 ajoining rooms right across the hall from me. Their doors were opening and closing repeatedly for at least 45 minutes straight at 10:45pm on a Weds night....looks like trying to keep solo travelers away and in a quiet area (if one should exist) wasn't all that intentional, but i will say it wasn't for the majority of my stay and it only became disruptive on my final night there. Breakfast was decent but hard to get too as you have so many inconsiderate people that stay at these places including teenagers that cant see beyond their nose when it comes to other people or being respectful. I only had breakfast once in a 5 day stay, as I don't care to listen to a group of 16 year olds make a tik tok on what they had for breakfast (true story, the first morning I went down, I grabbed anything that wasn't monopolized by a group of teenagers hovering over the waffle station-to go and ate it in my room) staff was nice and very accommodating so well done to them for that, pool was okay for budget hotel, what made it great, is there was no one in it. Overall 3.8/5. Could be alot better, but I have stayed in Waaaaayy worse along the same price point. Won't be returning to sandusky- but if I was, I would look for a different place next time. Primarily due to seeking an establishment that knows each individual person has their own set of needs and trying to accommodate those. The rest of the world should not be disrupted during thrir vacation because you decided...
Read moreWe booked a queen suite, and the room is nice and spacious to work in. Unfortunately, there is construction happening with furniture movers constantly in and out of the hallways, which is not conducive to our quiet enjoyment at the property.||The most uncomfortable situation was when a construction worker walked into our hotel room with his access key at 7:58 a.m. without knocking first, and my wife was in the room by herself. We asked to check out a day early and requested a refund from the general manager Nicole T. She stated that because it was 1 hour and 40 minutes past the checkout time, she could not provide a refund. We asked for an exception considering the circumstances (including the guy opening up our hotel room door) and the fact that we did not feel comfortable with all of the construction and smells, so Nicole called the area manager Connie.||Connie was given all of the details of the uncomfortable situation including the fact that the construction worker, Brian, accessed and opened the door to our room without knocking first. Instead of providing a refund for the remaining night, Connie stated that our request was late (i.e., 1:40 p.m.) No apologies were forthcoming nor were there reasonable considerations provided from the managers. Additionally, Nicole had the audacity to say that my wife was fully dressed, insinuating that Brian opening up our hotel door was therefore acceptable. This hotel is decent- looking but beware that the managers do not have the guests’ best interests nor do they appropriately address SAFETY concerns.||I witnessed a construction worker yelling at Nicole this morning, stating that guests should not be staying at the hotel while they are moving furniture and working. Apparently profit comes before safety. HUGE LIABILITIES...
Read moreMy wife booked our room through Expedia but then wound up getting covid the day before our reservation. We contacted Expedia but they said they were within 48 hours of the reservation so no changes or cancellation was allowed, but we could contact the hotel for an override. We asked Expedia if they could contact the hotel, which they did. I called the hotel as well. They were unwilling to work with us and provide the override, insisting they were "in a contract" and that we were "in a contract". I explained that Expedia was willing to change the reservation -- we just wanted to bump it back a week. Expedia said that they could make the change without any penalty, but the hotel had to approve. The individual at the front desk (Friday, September 15, 7:30pm) refused to provide the approval, insisting they would be penalized and that it's a risk one takes when booking a room. We are trying to do the right thing and not spread germs around, and the hotel representative was unwilling to work with us. I pleaded with the hotel front desk representative but they continued to refuse. It's disappointing that they chose to hide behind "policy" rather than helping out a customer. They could've approved the change. Expedia was willing to make the change, without penalty, but the hotel representative refused to allow it. That's disappointing and poor customer service. We will take our business elsewhere.
The Expedia rep and supervisor, on the other hand, were awesome. Very friendly and professional, and I appreciate the help they gave, despite the hotel being unwilling to help us. Expedia offered a $50 voucher as a goodwill effort since we lost the entire $123.99...
