I was traveling for business and did not pick this hotel. I was attending a conference in the area and couldn't get a room there. I am very satisfied with my stay at Tru!
Check in was easy! I am coming from a non profit so there was extra steps with booking and the whole process was a breeze! (We have ran into snags with other hotels) The front desk clerk was nice and I am terrible with names. She was informative and gave me the rundown about parking, ice, hours of the pool and such, and where to find breakfast. The lobby was really cute. Lots of room to hang out. There is a little snack bar to purchase snacks and drinks. They have a pool and sadly no hot tub but that is ok.
It wouldn't let me put the photos in any kind of order but I did include some photos.
Getting into the room was easy. They do offer a digital key option but I was not really wanting to add another app and what not to only have it for 2 days. The room was clean :) It smelled good. The bathroom was stocked and clean. The mini fridge was on and cold (some hotels you need to turn it on), the room temp was ok. I felt like it was warm because I came in after being out in the heat. I went to adjust to cool it down and was only able to turn it to 68 degrees and now lower! I was annoyed at first (because I was so hot) but the room did cool down quickly and I was comfortable! It even felt cold at times.
Once checked in and settled, I did run to Walmart. There are plenty of options for grocery, food, and fun.
Got back to the room and began to relax finally! I turned on the TV and saw it said "Welcome Jessica" I thought that was very cool! It made me feel special! There are plenty of options of things to watch. The bed was soft and comfortable. I liked that there were a few different options of firmness with the pillows. The noise level is typical to other hotels. You could hear people in the halls but I feel that is pretty normal.
Time to get up and shower. I thought it was nice that they have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available already and it smelled pretty good. I am not really a fan of lemon so I did not use their products. The water pressure was perfect. You can also adjust the pressure on the shower head as well. It was a smart move to eliminate the shower curtain and have the glass door. Hooks are close by to hang your towel on the grab it when you get out. I did not use it but there is a hair dryer in there.
Plenty of outlets, there is USB outlets as well. Lots of lighting. Great door security to make you feel safe while in your room.
Breakfast was really yummy! Everything was fresh and stocked. I thought I took a picture of this but I didn't.
Check out was quick and easy. I am terrible with names but the front desk clerk was nice as well.
I would stay here again for sure! It was a...
Read moreThis experience was a solid 2 1/2 stars. The hotel is very trendy as another reviewer stated. And while it is a pet friendly hotel it is well maintained and smells clean. The room we were in was spacious and able to accommodate three our pets and service dog.
Drawbacks- Checkin was not seamless as the front desk was unmanned for about 15 minutes. Another guest asked if I was waiting for the girl and I said I guess. She responded that I should check outside as she may be on a cigarette break. Unfortunately no one was outside. Eventually a young lady name Emily checked us in. She was nice for the most part but can appear overwhelmed running the entire hotel alone. I don’t envy her situation. I had to call her and front desk a few times during our stay because the room did not have blackout blinds which made me apprehensive to do anything as it faced an adjacent hotel and I was concerned someone could see into our room. Later on that night our ac went out and the room became very hot fast. We attempted to adjust the ac multiple ways but it just would not cool the room down.
If you’re not a picky eater then you’d enjoy the breakfast. I want to say it’s all probably all microwaveable or frozen food that’s put out, but for the price point it was decent. Our first day of breakfast they ran out of syrup, which I’d never experienced at a hotel before, especially one with 80 rooms. Then the cleaner was so scared of our dogs she refused to come in and clean the room. As a capable adult I made the beds and gave her the trash in the cans and asked her to give us new soaps as they were empty.
The same day my husband told me he heard screaming and crying as he walked by the office door. He said he thought maybe someone was fired as he saw the checkin gal wiping tears away from her eyes. Then earlier in the morning around 1 or 2 am he heard screams in the hallway that sounding like a horror show. I’m not sure if this hotel is near to a hunted mansion tour but he said it sounded gut wrenching.
The location is ideal as it 3 miles from the Walmart and other food options and only 15 minutes from Cedar Point.
Overall the stay was ok as we have had worst stays. As stated, the facility is very cleans d trendy. The workers here work hard as we always saw someone sweeping or mopping the common areas. My suggestion is for the hotel to be better staffed so that the could attend to it’s guests properly Va having all the responsibilities on one person...
Read more"You get what you pay for," as the saying goes. I recently drove cross-country, from Chicago to West Viginia, and stayed at a couple less-expensive hotels (Days Inn), and promised myself that I would not subject myself to a lower quality stay than I deserved (--as a Hilton Honors member). I was glad to have booked a room at Tru (a Hilton hotel) on my way back. There is a HUGE difference, and it's well worth it! The outside look of the hotel is modern and not like traditional places like Days Inn, Red Roof or Holiday Inn. The INSIDE is even more welcoming--the lobby has some super-cool nooks and places to relax and do computer work... free coffee... free games in the lobby. And the reception clerk (both arriving as well as the site manager, Mike, when I checked out) couldn't have been friendlier, personable and professional. GREAT JOB, guys! The room itself was excellent, with a very, very comfortable bed and plenty of soft, cushy pillows. The desk workspace was perfect... mini-fridge that was plenty cold... large TV mounted on the wall (not free-standing on the dresser). But the best part of my room was the shower--the nozzle was high enough that even a tall guy like me (6'4") could fit under it, and the water pressure was outstanding. The 'look' of the shower was super-cool: all-glass, walk-in. Possibly the best hotel shower I've ever experienced. I also should say something about the free breakfast. It's advertised as a 'bagel bar', but it's actually everything you'd hope it would be--HOT scrambled eggs, endless bacon, a cauldron of oatmeal (w all the fixins), a selection of breads (incl bagels, duh), yogurt, bananas and other fruit, four different juices and (best of all) a state-of-the-are pancake machine (--TWO of them, so no waiting) where you wave your hand in front of the sensor and then it magically makes two pancakes and deposits them on your plate at the other end (--no mess, touchless, super-cool). The kind lady who was working the breakfast bar was super attentive, too... restocking, wiping, emptying the trash, replenishing the coffee bar, cleaning. OUTSTANDING. It may cost a couple bucks more than staying at a hotel across the street, but I highly recommend you book your room at the Tru hotel if you're passing through Sandusky OH. It's totally worth it, and you'll be...
