I booked this place off of the Wyndham site. My wife checked in early afternoon after her meeting then went shopping while waiting for me to drive down from Flagstaff with the kids. She never actually checked the room. We got back to the hotel about 8:30pm ready to go to bed. When we got into the room we tried to settle in, but my wife kept finding issues that eventually led to us not even being able to stay the night. We went back up to the front desk to see if there was a more suitable room. None were available so we told the front desk clerk we wanted to cancel our stay so we could go somewhere else. After showing the pictures to him he agreed that we shouldn't have to stay, but he would be unable to credit the room back. He said that would have to be done by the manager the next day. I called the next day to try and get a credit back and the manager (Andy) refused to do anything about it saying that the room was adequate. I contacted Wyndham about the room and they gave me a Customer Service number and said that they would try to get the manager to resolve it with me. They have to give him 14 days to respond. He sent out an invoice after they contacted him, which I then found out that he DOUBLE charged me for the room I didn’t even stay in. After about a week I finally got the second charge credited but could not get any response about the credit for the original reservation. At the end of the 2 weeks I called Wyndham back to see if they could start working on getting something done. This prompted him to finally call me. I returned his call and he was unprofessional and argumentative throughout the conversation. He eventually offered me half my money back, but when I did not accept his offer he started to belittle my own house saying it was no better and threatened me stating not to make him mad. Figuring that I would not accept anything except a full refund, he eventually hung up on me. I immediately called Wyndham and they finally were able to get me squared up by sending me a live check. For your safety and peace of mind, I would stay far away from this property. There are much nicer properties in the area for the same or less money. Wyndham finally took care of it, but it took forever and a ton of frustration.

Where to start, First the air was off when my brother got in, took 24 hours to get the room cool so the first night it was sweltering. We asked for a room on the 1st floor and was told 2nd floor was better and couldnt accommodate us even tho we both had trouble doing steps. Then the first night the homeless were emptying trash bags and seperating recycables to cash in, in the parking lot. The rooms tv controller wouldnt work so we couldnt watch tv and the worlds worst choices of stations so it didnt matter. Went to hang clothes but there was no hangers and it lacked a dresser but had maybe two drawers under the television. There was no alarm clock in the room so if you programmed the microwave then you had a clock. There was dust and dirt and items on top of the shelf over the hangers. The sink comes out so far its difficult to get to the shower to start the water unless you are in it and like either hot or cold water hitting you before you can adjust. We stayed 7 days and housekeeping which states they come every 3 days, never came wven after complaining directly to the front office and to the housekeeping women. We got one bar of soap, one bottle of shampoo and one towel when we went to the office. Every evening a car alarm went off almost all night long, homeless came on and off the property frequently and sat off on the corners mostly. People in 119 had a domestic the second night screaming and fighting for an extended period of time. Tried to call the office but the phone didnt work. When we went to get ice its in the office along with items to buy and the free continental breakfast. We went twice and there was only coffee. When i went for ice and soda, the woman behind the counter had to turn some switch on to the ice machine and made my purchase the entire time arguing in hindu on the phone. Location is wonderful to the airport. If you want a no frills place for the night, with a no care from management hotel. Beds were firm and came with 3 pillows and a decorative longer one. No comforter just sheets and a very thin blanket. Bathroom had two wash clothes, one large towel and two smaller. You also got travel size shampoo, moisterizer and soap.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Phoenix Airport/Downtown. After a last-minute cancellation from another Wyndham property, I was left with no choice but to book a room at this location. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had expected, especially considering the price paid for one night. Here are the issues I encountered during my stay: 1. Room Condition: The room was in poor condition for the price I paid. The furniture was outdated and dirty, and there were noticeable gaps between the vanity and wall. Additionally, there was an item hanging behind the bathroom mirror, and the doorknob had exposed holes, indicating neglect and poor maintenance. The sink had cracks and no sink stopper. There was someone else's hair on the sink and on the toilet. The water did not get hot just luke warm. 2. Missing Amenities: There were no washcloths and no soap provided in the bathroom. Additionally, there was no iron and ironing board, which are typically expected amenities in a hotel room. The refrigerator, microwave and safe were outdate and discolored. 3. Poor Bed Quality: The mattress was old, uncomfortable, and felt worn down, as we could feel the springs through it. The pillows were equally disappointing—flat, old, and of very poor quality. We resorted to using our t-shirts for additional pillow protection. 4. Breakfast: The breakfast selection was minimal, offering only coffee and juice. I was expecting more variety, especially given the price paid for the stay. 5. Deposit: A $40 deposit was required, which was not communicated clearly at the time of booking, and it felt like an unnecessary additional charge. 6. The photos on the website are not an accurate depiction of the rooms. They do not have any carpet in the rooms and the bedding did not have the bottom orange throw blanket. While the desk clerk apologized for the hotel’s shortcomings, this did not make up for the overall disappointing experience. The cost for one night was $178 I believe that this hotel does not meet the standard of service expected from a Wyndham property.

I am so utterly beyond upset! I'm so very disgusted at the hotel staff that was there tonight/early morning. The front desk clerks name was Juan, wouldn't give me the first initial of his last name, so I do hope that there is NO other worker there by that name b/c I will make it my business to report this horrible, rude, disrespectful human being! I am so upset right now just writing this at 1:27 a.m my time in California. I will do everything to find out who the manager is at this location and then I am going to call corporate to make sure this sorry person will NEVER be able to treat another customer the way he did my son ever again. My son is coming home for the summer from college in PA. I had scheduled I mean made a reservation the prior week while at work with an Andy of Howard Johnson at the time of my call. I called to verify their shuttle service b/c I was booking my sons stay online for the special price offer but upon checking their shuttle service Andy said that I could book with him & he'd give me the same online value price...cool no problem so I made the reservations for my son b/c his layover was there in Phoenix before his return to Ontario airport in the morning. So long story short my son gets there to check in & Juan says the system went down but yet he still asked for his confirmation # but then says they been down so he couldn't even pull up the reservation then he proceeded to tell my son that he can stay there but he would have to pay in cash (this whole time my son has me on speaker so I hear everything and I am also talking to Juan as well) so my son says mom it's an ATM right here so I say ok well get the money from the ATM. Juan then tells my son (with me listening) that he couldn't give us the rate Andy had given me which was what my reservation was for and it's more. I was not accepting to that b/c now it's way after midnight and my son is tired just wanting to check in his room so he can make his early morning flight home. So Juan is mouthing me really bad my son didn't like it told him not too talk to me talk to him I just told my son to get the card from the front desk and his name I will call the manager in the morning. Juan is now swearing at my son taking his jacket off in gesture to fight my son. Now I'm going freaking crazy b/c I'm in California and felt helpless b/c my son is there and I'm only on the phone my son walks over a block to Hilton Gardens hotel after midnight almost 1:00 am (now mind you a shuttle dropped him off at Howard) I was so extremely upset and emotional I called the shuttle service number back to see if they knew who the manager was for Howard Johnson this guy Juan's behavior was very upsetting extremely unwarranted and had my child in a bad situation. I will make sure he is taken care of no matter how many people I have to go through to get my sanity back from putting my child in a tough situation. It was uncalled for and all I had asked him was for him to give me the same price that my confirmation/reservation was for. He was having a rough day I guess I understand that working and dealing with the public you have to always remain professional I am employed with the County of Los Angeles and his conduct was very unacceptable and I wish I were able to sue him or something I never want to put my son in any situation like that again this was a terrible horrible experience for him and his first time ever staying at a room a lone and to have to endure a "grown man" of that caliber. I called Hilton Garden hotel in tears for them to please have something available for my son being out there like that and me helpless to where I couldn't fully protect my child the clerk there helped me out and I explained the whole story to her that had just happened to him. Juan God will get...
