I stayed at this hotel with my two brothers and nephew for a wrestling event that was in the area. We were driving from out of town and when we called to see if we could get an early check in the front desk answered the phone, told us check in is at 1pm and when we tried to ask her something else, she hung up on us. When we arrived, two of the 4 elevators were not working and even the staff waiting for the elevator confirmed that at least one of them always stops working. We took the stairs up to our room and upon arriving, the room was dirty. There was a bone front a chicken wing in the trash, there was hair still in the shower and the sheets on both beds were dirty. I asked my brother to stop by front desk and send someone to clean the bathroom and ask for new sheets since he was going down by the pool.
He left the room and found a cleaning service staff member in our hallway. He came back with her and when we showed her the wing in the trash, she picked it up with her bare hands, no gloves and didn’t place a liner after picking it up. Then I showed her the hair in the shower and at first she feigned not seeing it but then stepped inside the shower with her sneakers on and also picked that up with her bare hands. She turned to me and asked me if that was it and I stated yes, because she obviously was not in the mood to help us. She leaves the room and my brother goes down to the lobby to speak with front desk.
The supervisor of the cleaning staff was sent to our room in regards to our complaint, her name was Rosa. Rosa asked me about the complaints and stated she checked the room herself before we checked in and that it was clean. As I go to show her the problem areas previously mentioned she stated how she doesn’t see anything and I tell her that the woman who came in previously had picked it up with her bare hands and left. Rosa then asked me if I wanted the room cleaned again, I asked if they could at least clean the bathroom.
Rosa then leaves the room and returns with the same woman who had came in before. As I stood on the door, the woman from before asked me with an attitude “you want your bathroom cleaned again?” And I said yes. The woman, whose name I did not get because she did not have her name tag on, came in and cleaned the room while her supervisor watched. When she finished the woman turned to me and asked “is this clean enough for you?”. I went in and inspected the bathroom and it was cleaner. I told them it was fine to be over with this situation as I didn’t appreciate the attitude and just wanted to rest after driving for four hours. The two staff members left and we had to call for clean sheets again that my brother got for our rooms.
Terrible service, I wouldn’t stay here ever again. Try the Fairfield Inn or...
Read moreMy check-in went smoothly, or so I thought. Katherine checked us in, gave us our room keys and explained where the amenities were. Once we arrived at our room, we were in the center room between two rooms which both ad adjoining doors to our room. We were on the 7th floor as my profile states I prefer a room on a high floor away from the elevator., this room fit that but it was awful. There weren't any draperies at the window, Only vertical blinds, which would surely allow the brightness of the morning to come through before I would be ready to see it. There were tracks for the drapes, but none attached. Also, this room did not have a closet, it had a brown clothes rack with hangers and a mini fridge shoved underneath it. I called the front desk, the gentleman answered and I explained no closet, he asked that I come back downstairs, that I could be given a room with a spacious closet. I went down to speak with him, because I feared should I speak to Katherine, I would get a worst room, well he was busy and Katherine politely changed our room to room 3011. When we walked in the room it looked like a crime had taken place, or the exterminator had been there. Every drawer in the dresser and nightstand were open, the cushions up on the chairs and we had the view of a cement wall. I pretty much figured she would give us a worst room if I went back to her, and she did. After going back down again and telling her of this room, she explained the housekeepers leave all the drawers open for inspection, well, i don't feel it's my job to close them, so I listened to her explanation, I guess she could see I was not impressed, she then moved us to the 4th floor. This room was much better although, just slightly above the wall we were looking at below, this time we had a view of the roof of the wall we had on the last room. She gave us breakfast vouchers for our having to brings our bags back and forth several times. I didn't feel the breakfast voucher was appropriate, but my husband told me to leave it alone since we would only be staying one night. I am a Hilton Honors Gold member, and a family member that is on a high tier with Marriott suggested I do more business with Marriott since you are now SPG as well, but this made me rethink. Why was I coming back and forth, why wasn't the bellman sent to move me and my things, he was on duty, maybe it was just this hotel, but in any event, to say the least, I think it could have been done better, and...
Read moreCons: There was general lack of knowledge and care from the hotel front desk and management staff. Upon check-in I inquired about how early then next morning we could get into the conference room we were utilizing. They were unsure and said they would call me in my room to let me know but I never received a call.
Once in my room, I encountered issues connecting to the wifi. I called 3 times for assistance. The first 2 times someone picked up and disconnected the call. The third time someone answered, placed me on hold for approximately 4-5 minutes, then came back on the line and hung up. I went to the front desk and explained what just happened and there was no apology or concern. The gentlemen at the desk simply asked me to try the wifi again on my phone to help ensure that it worked and explained that even though the web page says that certain things are optional you have to select them in order for the wifi to work.
The room was was outdated in my opinion and and not clean. The staff had prepared the room but was lacking attention to detail and some outright cleanliness issues. The toilet paper holder was broken and the roll would fall off when you use it, the clock was off by approximately an hour and 10 minutes from actual time without housekeeping noticing or correcting for the next guest, the floors/corners were dirty, shower head was very dirty, water backed up to my ankles in the bathtub during showers, and the curtains and foot stool in the room had stains/substances on them.
Additionally during my stay the elevator broke.
Pros: The hotel was very close to my work location and relatively close to everything in Clearwater/Tampa. Additionally, we utilized a conference room and the room was in great condition and the staff was extremely responsive and friendly. They were truly on top of everything and the food through the hotel was very good.
Overall I give the hotel a poor rating. I would recommend for conference space as that was fantastic but I do not think I will be staying at the property again after...
