1 star, nothing else but poor customer service This past weekend we rented the presidential suite at this supposed Marriott hotel and right from the beginning,I was unimpressed We called nearly 3 hours before check in (4:00) and asked if they could accommodate early check in,even if just by an hour, they said the previous guests checked out late(noon) and would do the best they could.Nice enough.husband and I arrived at 3:10 and were told our room would be an another 25-30 minutes.it ended up being ready 10 minutes before 4:00 thing is,the presidential suite I assume is the largest room you have, you know as a staff that it will probably take the longest to clean and that your guest just paid the most $$ to rent it...wouldn’t it be the priority of your housekeeping staff to clean it first ,especially on a day that it is booked again and when a guest has expressed interest in having earlier access to it...yet they looked at me like I was crazy for being annoyed Hotel has weird plug in mini fridges(1 on each floor) where they keep ice in bags and at 8:00 at night not only was our fridge empty but so was the 7th and 6th floor below me...When I called the front desk they told me not to bother continuing floor hoping as they were all empty they hadn’t filled them up yet.again.odd. most guests in the evening may like a cocktail or are settling in to enjoy their room and ICE at a hotel should be stocked in your dorm room fridges presidential suite had NO USB ports NONE.not in the nightstands, the lamps,no alarm clocks .we were all floored.it’s 2021,isn’t it like basic hotel decorating 101 to include USB ports to charge phones.the holiday inn has them! When I called down to the front desk the woman who answered assured me they were in the nightstands...we searched every single one...the night stands themselves weren’t plugged into anything so unless they were battery operated, you can’t supply power without having POWER,so I asked if they had any that other guests may have left behind in the lost and found that I could use, they said I could come down and borrow one, which had their name clearly written on it,leading me to believe this had happened before ...they loan this out all the time, they know they don’t have USB ports and when I said that to the woman she said rudely”well some of the rooms do”..totally makes sense I said”that some rooms have it but the freaking presidential suite which should be the best you offer does not.. We also had a few annoying instances where we called down for washcloths and they said they didn’t have any clean ones ,we placed a room service order ,they forgot it And so when I was downstairs getting this magical cell port charger I asked to speak with a manager, the clerk motioned to a man standing next to her who when I told him that I was disappointed in my stay and customer service in the hotel and who would I talk to about that?corporate?literally just looked at me and said “corporate” No “I’m sorry to hear that ma’m my name is __,tell me more so I can try and remedy the situation” or “hold one moment let me get their # for you” It was the most bizarre guest services response I’ve ever had, I expect better from a Burger King...like as a manager wouldn’t you want to investigate a poor stay with your guest?? I went back down hours later and checked out ...asked the front desk clerk if the manager who couldn’t have cared less About a complaint, had someone over him that I could speak to and she said that he was the general manager Adam(?).I told her”is that standard practice for a GM to stand there like a bump on a log when a guest who spent nearly $1k on 2 nights of rooms had a subpar experience ,she told me”well you were really angry and he was trying to defuse the situation” I hadn’t cursed ,I hadn’t yelled and I’m wondering where he was trained that he learned to diffuse a situation by ignoring it This whole weekend was wild and made me sad that even as locals we will...
Read moreI've been meaning to write this review for a while because I travel for work and stay at the Karol Hotel often when I do. This hotel is literally my dream hotel when it comes to travel. The entrance and pull-in when you arrive is pure luxury, bright, welcoming and there's always some kind of welcome cocktail that's offered to you at check-in. I love the staff (one of my favorite things about staying here). They are so kind and always aim to please. They will call you a Lyft if you're going to a nearby corporate biz and if there's anything you need in-room (within reason), they'll make sure to deliver it to you. Normally I eat at the main level restaurant or bar but the room service food is just as good. I'm a big fan of the Karol Salad--so yummy! If you're thinking about staying at the Karol and comparing to other nearby hotels, there's no comparison! I love how easy it is to get downtown from this hotel and nearby, walking distance you have The Bakery Cafe (for mostly coffee and desserts), Starbucks, Panera, Hacienda Grande, an Indian restaurant and a Mediterranean lunch spot, which I must say are all good. I love that there are so many options nearby, which is great when I'm busy and don't have a lot of time to travel far. Also, if you like to exercise, the gym is perfect with enough machines and equipemtn to get you the sweat you need. One day I was given a run map by staff of a 20-30 min run/jogging path suggested by the hotel in Feather Sound (the high end neighborhood situated right behind the hotel). It was a beautiful run and I so appreciated the map for guidance. I highly recommend the Karol!!! It feels very much like a boutique hotel but is run efficiently like a large hotel. ||Rooms: ALWAYS nice and always clean. The bathrooms are large and the showers have 2 nice shower head options. Beds are comfortable and there is great cable for watching movies/news.||Food/Drink: While I haven't eaten or had drinks at Vantage Rooftop Bar yet, I can speak to the restaurant and bar which are great. I love having a typical egg breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. For dinner, choose the salmon entree! The Karol Salad is another one of my favorites!||Ammenities: There's a small pool if you want to catch some sun and a beautiful run path in Feather Sound neighborhood (just ask hotel staff). Plentiful parking which is steps from the hotel. ||Walkability: The hotel is off a major road called Ulmerton which is quite busy but what I like about it is that nearby walking distance (on the same side of the street) you have plenty of food and drink options: Starbucks, Bakery Cafe, Pizza Hut, Hacienda Grande, Panera, and Mediterranean and Indian restaurants (which I can remember the names of). I walk to all of these. A ride to downtown St. Pete will take anywhere between 15-20 minutes. If you're looking for somewhere to go, I recommend the Salvador...
Read moreI’d like to start off by saying I do not like leaving bad reviews I am the furthest thing from a Karen but I just have to share my experience. I was super excited to plan my hubbys birthday dinner at the Karol hotels K club restaurant. I met with the manager Chris who is very nice by the way . To talk about options . We discussed how it would be about 25-30 people an how everyone would be on there own checks .there is a beautiful outdoor patio area that gives more of an exclusive private feel . Perfect for a dinner of 30 people . We discussed that’s where the reservation would be unless it rained we would pull the party inside . I planned an organized this dinner for a month , checking the weather report daily an had my heart set on that patio area ! The weather was looking great ! I was super excited an proud to show my friends the hotel an hoping for a great experience. I call the hotel the day of dinner an simply ask if it’s ok if 10 more guests join us , I’m thinking from a business stand point they would be excited for more people to come , more revenue for the hotel . HA ! I get a call from someone named Dimitri pretty much trtint to cancel the entire dinner ! All over me asking if a few more people could join ! I said I could tell the people who were trtint to come they could meet up with us later an to please not cancel this entire thing over me just asking if more people could join ! His reason was that they were short staffed an couldn’t handle a party of our size. I get it . The whole world is short staffed an I was willing to coordinate any way I needed to make this happen . After that call I’m Now crying hysterically, I get a call from a very nice woman who said we can still do the party but we can no longer have the patio area . It has to be inside the restaurant. Which was always the back up plan ONLY if the weather messed up original plan . The weather was perfect an there was NO one in the restaurant when we arrived . There was no reason we couldn’t all be in the outside area together in a more private area verse scattered an disorganized all over the damn restaurant. Thankfully my friends were understanding an just went with the flow but I could tell some of them were disappointed which made me so embarrassed . I would never recommend this place at all due to this horrible miscommunication. The hotel itself is very pretty . An the bartender jasmine was awesome !!! But I feel like my husbands bday dinner was completely ruined an I just feel so horrible about that . If your looking to have a large group of people for dinner I would look else where . It’s not worth the stress an anxiety I...
