I'm giving this a five star review as a reward to the operations manager (I think Scott) for rectifying an issue and also as my apology for mistaking our waitress to be a male instead of female.
Long story short, there was a substantial error on the bill and it wasn't fixed until what I believe was the head manager, Scott got involved.
More detailed version.... My wife bought a gift card online for fathers day last year and there was a promotion of an extra $15 for each $50 you purchased. She had difficulty after paying to receive a printable version to give me on father's day. I am not sure how it was resolved, but I ended up with egift cards although the bonus ones appeared a bit different than the $100 one. None of this is this location's fault.
I reserved a time today with deposit online for 2hours and it was only like $47 or $48. I'm thinking cool, I will spend the rest on food and drinks. I arrived 25 minutes early because I wanted to make sure these cards weren't going to be an issue afterwards and wanted to stay within budget on what I purchased. I was reassured by the front desk as well as the waitress that I would not have any issue using the cards. I even explained how the 2 smaller ones looked different. I was a first timer so wanted to be extra sure of no confusion.
We played and everything was great. The games were fun, the food was good, and the drinks were prompt. I had no issues with the service throughout the entire process until the very end.
My bill was confusing. It didn't show where my deposit was applied, and just in general seemed way off. I was then told I couldn't use the two $15 gift cards because they consider those coupons and not gift cards. A supervisor came over and said those would have had to be inputted prior to starting the game. I'm like, I told the staff I was new and sought clarification in advance. The waitress set the game up for us in the beginning, not me, and she was aware I was concerned about how and if I can use the gift cards. This guy wasn't willing to budge and even took a condescending tone with me. He seemed more interested in defending and blaming me for not handling the cards in advance than fixing issues. I think the waitress was upset by everything even though I was mostly irritated by the supervisor's unwillingness to rectify the problem and attitude, not her. I also accidentally referred to her as a guy not realizing she was a girl. I am sorry about that. Its just the attire and hair could have gone either way and I don't think anyone corrected me.
Anyway, after getting nowhere with the other supervisor, Scott came over and was much more friendly and seemed genuinely interested in hearing me out and understanding why I wasnt satisfied. I felt like I could actually talk to this guy. It turned out that the problem really had more to do with the reservation than the gift cards. Apparently my $47 reservation was like a 1/2 off special, but somehow the bill wasn't reflecting that and was representing the normal price.
He fixed it and I am happy. Honestly, this is a very cool place. I think the prices are reasonable, including the normal prices. This was more about the principle that I wanted to pay the price that was originally indicated when I signed up and use the prepaid cards that were purchased in advance. I would give this place another chance because it has the potential to be outstanding. They just need to simplify things a little more with billing...
Read moreTitle: A Mixed Experience at Top Golf St. Petersburg, Florida
Rating: ★★★☆☆
I recently visited the new Top Golf St. Petersburg location and had a mixed experience overall. While there were several positives, such as the well-designed and spacious venue, modern technology, attentive wait staff, and delicious food and drinks, there were a few negatives that impacted our visit.
Let's start with the positives. The facility itself is impressive. It offers a sleek and modern design, providing ample space for guests to enjoy their time. The advanced technology integrated into the driving range experience adds a unique and exciting element. It's clear that a lot of thought went into creating an engaging environment for golf enthusiasts.
The wait staff deserves special recognition for their excellent service. Our waiter, Stu, who served us at Bay 227, went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making our visit more enjoyable.
The food and drinks at Top Golf St. Petersburg were another highlight. The menu offered a wide variety of options, and everything we ordered was delicious. The staff took care to deliver our orders promptly, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. It's clear that the culinary team takes pride in their work.
However, there were a couple of negatives that affected our experience. Firstly, the prices at Top Golf St. Petersburg are quite high. While we expected a premium experience, the cost of food, drinks, and gameplay was noticeably expensive. This may be a deterrent for some visitors, especially those on a tight budget.
Additionally, we encountered issues with the technology used to track our scores accurately. There were instances where the system failed to capture our scores correctly, which led to some frustration and confusion. Moreover, the Point of Sale system experienced a significant malfunction, resulting in a delay in our food order. Unfortunately, the delay was such that we had to cancel our order altogether. This was disappointing, as it disrupted our evening and left us hungry.
In conclusion, despite some positive aspects, our visit to Top Golf St. Petersburg had its ups and downs. The venue's design, spaciousness, and advanced technology were impressive, and the wait staff provided exceptional service. The food and drinks were delicious. However, the high prices, coupled with technical issues that affected our gameplay and the Point of Sale system failure, left a blemish on our experience.
Nevertheless, the efforts of our waiter, Stu, deserve special mention, as he went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. With some improvements in pricing and addressing the technical glitches, Top Golf St. Petersburg has the potential to be a truly outstanding destination for golf and entertainment...
Read moreI am disappointed with this place. My husband had planned my birthday party at this place with 7 of my friends. They said 8 people could sit in one bay but only 6 could play at a time. We did advance booking and paid the deposit for one bay with a couch from 6pm-8pm. When we got there at 5:45 on the day of event, we were told “No bays available”. We were like, are you kidding? They said the place was fully booked because of events. I said to them that if there were other events happening, and the place was fully booked, why did they accept our deposit and did ann advance booking for us? They could have told us at the time of advance booking that they were full at this date and time. What am I going to tell my friends now coz they would start arriving shortly. After a lot of “let me talk to my manager” they were able to find one bay, with 5 chairs and a table. I told them we booked a bay with a couch, and all we got was , “Sorry this is what we got!” I asked them where am I going to seat the three remaining friends because these are only five chairs? Let me say the manager on duty was nothing but terrible and I also told that to her face. I literally had to fight with them to get 3 more chairs so I could seat all of my friends. What a great start to my birthday, coz I was literally in tears! Moving forward, the food and service- the table is very small so you can’t order everything at the same time. So we ordered one by one. The service was so slow, the food that I ordered at 7:25, never arrived. At 7:55, the server just handed me over the bill and asked us to vacate the bay. They said we could hang out in the outdoor patio, Ofcourse because the entire indoor seating was full, so we went and sat out only to find out the outdoor heaters were not functioning. So we all sat out for a little bit in 50 degrees weather and then just left coz it was getting too cold. I have a few questions about my bad experience. Why did you book our bay in advance and acceptu the deposit if you were already overbooked? Why did you make a promise for the couch if you never had one? Why do you book the place to capacity if you don’t have an efficient manager and staff to handle it all? Not...
